Cons: The central console only detects about 60 of your workstations. No amount of reboots handles this situation. You literally have to generate a MSI file from the server console and walk to each station physically to install the MSI. And that install is painful again - on most computers it took us 5 (five!) reboots and 2-3 re-installs of the MSI before it finally become active and recognized by the central console. Some computers even never got recognized, no matter how many times they were rebooted and re-installed. That's a really poor show. Tried to update to the latest version - no change, still does the same. The worst part is that the detection rate is absolutely awful. If you look at the history of threat detection it usually finds nothing. On several workstations I ran a full deep scan with Vipre, and it found no threats at all. Then ran a scan with Malwarebytes and it found 40 threats. All the way from really old threats like Conficker and a v5.vbs virus to other type of malware. Vipre had found nothing for weeks! I found that it does meet my needs as a home user quite well. Any questions I've ever had post sale with their customer support center have been answered completely and timely. The Admin may allow certain Power Users to control their settings. Best practices is to limit User access to settings. We do wish support would be more proactive especially with updates. Pros: Very easy to setup and install agents packages. Detection rates are good and does not bog down our systems. Cons: The mobile device management has been hit and miss for us. Agents do not always check-in. The 3rd party patching is OK, however there are other superior products out there. We just use it to justify what is missing. About to poke eyes out. In the admin console it says agent installation failed, with not much info after that in the logs. Go to google and search for VIPRE Rescue, once you find it download it. Then once downloaded boot the PC up in safe mode and run VIPRE Rescue from a USB drive. This should find any current infections that may be preventing your install. Other than that I would contact support and they can assist you. Also I have posted a few knowledge articles that may assist as well. I had to do that on a handful of machines. So insane! No rhyme or reason why. Once you get past that, I think you will like Vipre. Also I have posted a few knowledge articles that may assist as well. Just so people know, you don't get the same level of support with Vipre Business Online than you do with the on-premise Vipre. You only get email support and chat support. They won't remote into your computer. A couple of the machines failed and I actually had to contact Vipre about them. Turns out the micro-installer has a bug and on a small number of machines won't clean up after itself. GFI sent me the following that worked: I turned off the firewall (wf.msc) on the client machine and the agent installed just fine. (I turned the firewall back on afterwards.) I manually tried an exe and nothing happened. I checked the registry: I deleted the following folder: I didn't mind premium too much, besides the fact that it constantly dropped our iOS devices from the management console (I believe the protection was still in effect on all devices), it actually worked fairly well. This suite includes the expected features, except for the not-always-needed parental control. It gets uneven results in our testing, however. Bitdefender, Kaspersky, and Trend Micro Internet Security all fit this model. The full-scale security suites from those same vendors cost twice as much and give you three licenses. Both prices sound high, but in both cases, you get protection for every Android, iOS, Windows, and macOS device in your household. On the main MyVipre page, you get a simple report on security status and buttons to launch or schedule scans. The Manage tab has the settings for the various security components. If you don't like the color scheme, which defaults to green and white on dark grays, you can change it on the Account tab. With AV-Comparatives products don't get numeric scores, but Vipre earned the top certification in three test and the next-best in one. Tested by all four labs, Kaspersky, Avira, and Symantec Norton 360 Deluxe came out with 9.9, 9.8, and 9.6 aggregate points respectively. Bitdefender matched Kaspersky's 9.9, but with results from just three labs. Its RapidScan technology, enabled for on-demand scans, helped it finish a subsequent scan in 8.5 minutes. I advise also turning on RapidScan for the scheduled weekly full scan and daily quick scan. In addition, I noted that while the quarantine system appears to offer links with details about found threats, all the links went to the same handful of generic malware explanations. At the top, Webroot detected 100 percent of them, but Windows Defender earned the best score, getting 9.8 of 10 possible points. In almost every case, Vipre prevented all access to the dangerous URL. In the few cases where the browser did connect with the URL, Vipre's Edge Protection eliminated the download. Chrome, Edge, and Firefox all outperformed Vipre's 43 percent protection. If you use the secure deletion tool to erase sensitive files, nobody but a forensic expert can recover them. As for the History Cleaner, it aims to wipe out traces of your browsing and computer use, but you can see at a glance that it is quite dated. In fact, the company tells me that this feature is slated for removal. However, what you get on the Mac isn't a suite, but a simple antivirus. In fact, Vipre Advanced Security (for Mac) lacks significant features found in Vipre's standalone Windows antivirus. You can run a quick, full, or custom scan, or just rely on its real-time protection. It doesn't attempt to keep the browser safe from malicious or fraudulent websites and doesn't include any features beyond basic antivirus protection. Please read my review for the full story. If you want full firewall protection, click Manage, click Firewall, and turn on Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Process Protection. In addition, you should check the box labeled Stealth Mode. Vipre correctly put the system's ports in stealth mode, making them invisible to outside attackers. Of course, the built-in Windows Firewall can also accomplish this feat. Success in this test is the minimum for a third-party firewall, not a major achievement. Vipre defines permissions for its own processes and a few essential Windows processes. For others, it allows all outbound traffic and blocks all unsolicited inbound traffic. This arrangement avoids the annoying firewall pop-up queries that plague users of some firewall products, but it also means that the firewall's application control doesn't do anything on a per-application basis. You can enable prompting in Vipre, but it's more complicated. The Apps tab of the Firewall Rules dialog lists all programs that have rules defined, along with an entry that applies to all other applications. Four columns define the behavior for trusted and public traffic, inbound and outbound. Both types of inbound traffic are blocked. To enable prompting, you click each entry in the row marked Any Other Application and change the action to Prompt.
