Auto Changeover (Setup Function 0300): When set to Auto, the thermostat automatically selects heating or cooling depending on the indoor temperature. Remote Sensor (Setup Function 0340): If an optional outdoor sensor is installed, the thermostat can display the outside temperature. If an optional remote indoor sensor is installed, the thermostat will display the temperature at the sensor location (the internal sensor in the thermostat is not used). Adaptive Intelligent Recovery (Setup Function 0530): Allows the thermostat to “learn” how long the furnace and air conditioner take to reach programmed temperature settings, so the temperature is reached at the scheduled time. Gabber 5.0 out of 5 stars You may need to change the energy saving defaults. I did not want to purchase a much more expensive thermostat offered by my contractor, so I bought this one. The new thermostat has a few new energy saving settings that did not exist in the original 8-years old thermostat. For example, the new thermostat does not allow setting the cooling temperature to be lower than 72 Fahrenheit out of the box. Please remember to save the new settings before exiting the installer setup. The manual's number is 68-0280-01.OK, here are the things I love: 7-day programming. My wife has off on Fridays, so we have 4 unique programs: 1. Mon-Thu 2. Fri 3. Sat 4. Sun I guess if everyone in the home worked Mon-Fri, then you could do fine with 3 unique programs instead of 4. Main point is, the 5-2 models don't really cut it for weekends IMHO. It is super easy to create unique programs on this model and only takes a few minutes for me to program all 4 of ours from scratch. I also love the CIRCulate fan feature.http://www.drupalitalia.org/node/68655 I have never seen that on any of the basic residential models sold at places like Home Depot. It really helps keep the air equalized around the home and from getting stagnant. It is my default setting, and I rarely change it to AUTO or ON. The HOLD settings are great for temporary tweaks for comfort, or when you are on vacation. Very easy and clear to use. That sounds great for spring and fall in Minnesota, so I definitely plan on setting it up on the new one. Honeywell support has been great every time I call them with questions. There is one thing I really dislike about the default settings; however, Honeywell support walked me through the process to change it: when you program the thermostat to transition from SLEEP to WAKE, it tries to predict the time it takes to reach that temperature and fires early. For example, our SLEEP temp is 61. That is too cold for showering, so I establish a WAKE temp a few degrees higher, and set it to trigger at 6:00am, same time as my alarm clock. I don't really need it to be that much warmer in the bathroom, because it is very small. As long as heat is coming out of the vent, I am fine. Well, this thermostat, by default, tries to estimate how long it will take for it to attain your WAKE temperature setting, and then it turns itself on ahead of time predictively. When it is really cold out, the furnace can fire 30 minutes or more ahead of your set wake time. This cooks me out of my covers in bed and I hate that. There is a setting in the weird service menus to turn that off. If you are like me, it is worth the time to call Honeywell support and change it!When it gets too cold out for the heat pump to extract heat - the heat strips kick in (I live in FL). This thermostat is compatible with heat pumps but has no wiring connection for emergency heat - therefore it's useless to me. Now I realize that I have to buy the next unit up in the series to be compatibly with heat strips.https://danceofcyprus.com/images/bosch-hydropower-16h-service-manual.pdf I tried to determine this before I ordered it but everything I read said that any thermostat made to work with a heat pump will support emergency heat. I know now that was false info. I guess for all the users that rated this thermostat so highly - they must not be using it with a heat pump - or else they have some other sort of alternate heating for their home as heat pumps cannot generate heat when it gets extremely cold out. Anyway - I hope this review helps someone who may be tempted to order this unit as I was. Seems like a solid unit. Just can't use it with auxillary heat.I won't do a review of the Hunter model on here but compare the two. Pros: 1.Easy to install. My system has 4 wires and the existing thermostat mounting holes lined up with this Honeywell plate so it took 10 seconds to mount the plate and about 3 minutes to hook up wires and install thermostat. Worked great right out of the box. 2. Programmed the Thermostat while watching the news. You have to actually listen for it at close range. You could hear the old Hunter unit click on and off on the other side of the house and it was mentioned several times that it woke up visitors sleeping on the far side of the house where the thermostat is located. You can't hear the Honeywell unit. I would notice the Hunter unit would turn on and parts of the house got cold and other parts near the unit were warmer. The temp sensor wasn't very 'smart'. This Honeywell clicks on and adjusts house temp alot quicker and it seems the 'average' temp in the house is more consistent. UPDATE: Nov 21,2015 after 3 years 6 months this thermostat still works fabulous!!! Not one issue. Touch screen still works great. Maybe Amazon needs to place it on sale. But it has been a very reliable unit.In order to navigate out of this carousel please use your heading shortcut key to navigate to the next or previous heading.http://bubblesoflove.net/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1626d68c7bc40e---3-way-manual-globe-valve.pdf The TH8321 Thermostats provide temp erature control for gas, oil, electric and heat pumps for up to 3 heat, 2 cool systems including dual fuel operation plus dehu midification control.
