A top tether anchor is built into the vehicle. The top tether attachment (B) on the child restraint connects to the top tether anchor in the vehicle in order to reduce the forward movement and rotation of the child. The inflator, the airbag, and related hardware are all part of the airbag module. Frontal airbag modules are located inside the steering wheel and instrument panel. A new system will include airbag modules and possibly other parts. This is because the back of the rear-facing child restraint would be very close to the inflating airbag. A child in a rear-facing child restraint can be seriously injured or killed if the right front passenger’s airbag inflates. If one part is not working, the other part can still work and stop you. For good braking, though, you need both parts working well. If the brake system warning light comes on, there is a brake problem. Traction Control System (TCS) Warning Light 1545635 Your vehicle has a traction control system warning light. This light will come on when your traction control system is limiting wheel spin. You may feel or hear the system working, but this is normal. This light will also come on when one or more of your tires are significantly underin- flated. A tire pressure message in the Driver Infor- mation Center (DIC), may accompany the light. A misfire increases vehicle emissions and could damage the emission control sys- tem on your vehicle. Diagnosis and ser- vice might be required. The vehicle would be considered not ready for inspection. This can happen if you have recently replaced the battery or if the battery has run down. If this consistently occurs, see your dealer for service. BATTERY Press the vehicle information button until BATTERY displays. If a low oil pressure warning appears on the Driver Information Center (DIC), stop the vehicle as soon as possible. Do not drive the vehicle until the cause of the low oil pressure is corrected. If this message turns on while you are driv- ing, pull off the road as soon as possible and stop carefully. Try resetting the system by turning the ignition off and then back on. THEFT ATTEMPTED This message displays if the content theft- deterrent system has detected a break-in attempt while you were away from your vehicle. This fea- ture allows you to change the language in which the DIC messages appear to English. This chapter will explore the ethical duty lawyers have to their clients while conducting legal research online. ABA Model Rule 1.1 imposes a duty of competence upon all lawyers and defines competent representation to include “the legal knowledge, skill, thoroughness and preparation reasonably necessary for the representation.” Because conducting research is often an essential part of the “thoroughness and preparation reasonably necessary for the representation,” this ethical component applies directly to legal research. A lawyer’s duty of competence now includes a duty regarding technology, which includes new legal research technologies using artificial intelligence and litigation analytics. Lawyers must “keep abreast of changes in the law and its practice, including the benefits and risks associated with relevant technology.” Thirty-seven jurisdictions have adopted an “ethical duty of technology competence” as part of their rules of professional conduct, and Florida and North Carolina now require specific technology Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits. While there is not a consensus on what “technology” is — it can range from using email to creating smart contracts — conducting legal research online requires an understanding of the associated risks to your clients. The attached excerpt includes the table of contents for the book and the chapter on the ethics of online legal research. The chapter discusses the duty of competence related to AI and litigation analytics, cloud-based services and third-party vendors, preventing the inadvertent or unauthorized disclosure of client information, and reasonable fees. The Short and Happy Guide to Advanced Legal Research is aimed at teaching law students cost-effective, time-efficient legal research. The intent of this book is to zero in on the legal research resources necessary to meet the needs of the researcher at any particular stage of civil litigation. The emphasis is on how to find the necessary information in the most efficient manner. This book could be used as a supplement in pre-trial or civil litigation courses.
