You are supposed to remove the three screws here, and thread a pivot pin into one of the holes and then attach it to your router and make your cuts. However, the screws stripped like tissue paper. A little screwdriver plowed through all three of these screws, not one would come loose. So in a way, it almost made a perfect circle, just inside the screws and not in the wood. So, in this regard, wow does it suck.I ordered the item and was presented with a two day delivery as the fastest option, which I accepted. The next morning I was browsing products similar, when I came across the same item but with same day delivery. What? So I cancelled the previous order (which hadn't shipped yet) and ordered for the item with same day delivery. Later that evening the package arrived, and I was excited to get it installed and give it a try. However, when I retrieved the box from my front porch, I noticed right away that parts were moving around in the box and clanging together. When I opened the box, what I found was a blister package that had been literally smashed into a box too small for it, ruptured the package and spilled the contents into the box. Fortunately, all of the parts were in the box with the exception of one of the mounting bars - a part I actually didn't need for my equipment. The overall condition of the item was acceptable otherwise, no dents or scratches. It mounted to my router just fine, and did an average job for what I needed. I will point out that both the threaded mounting bars and the keeper screws will not stay tight unless they are actually torqued-in with some strength. I discovered this as I was making a test cut and found both mounting bars were loose in the router base and allowed the cut to wander out of alignment. I found a wrench for the bars (they have two flattened edges on the end flange for a small wrench or plier) and put a strong twist on them which seemed to hold. I did end up adding lock washers hoping to prevent them from loosening, but without them being bolted on the end, they'll probably come loose again. The unit itself seems fairly well made for the price, but the fine adjustment knob is of little value and I ended up ignoring it. I do like the sliding adjustment though and locks down very tight. Overall this guide seems better than others and will be fine for limited applications. Rather than recommend buying this, I suggest investing in or making your own router table - something I will do in the very near future!Thanks to a tech that had the right dimensions. It has made my day. Thank you Amazon as none of the other sites I searched including Milwaukee offered a solution that needed any modification. It’s a beautiful router but, for a woodworker we need the guide fence.While this same job would have been easier with a router table, I do not have one. This unit has a course adjustment and a fine adjustment, which I guess saves a few seconds in setting up. This unit can also do circle patterns too, something I did not realize when I bought this - but since I already have a Moving this side to side this was not staying aligned at first, so I attached a straight piece to the black edge guide to give it more surface area and make it more solid. Though after attaching a straight piece to the black edge guide I discovered that the edge guide while stiff laterally can be easily bent vertically. This is unfortunate, since the rest of the unit is rather solid. Though the bending issue is avoidable by simply not resting the router on top of the edge guide.This is the top of their line in this department. While the finish is not exactly what I'm used to when purchasing American made tools, it does work. Just be aware that the edges are not completely deburred from the stamping process when they made this. Other than that, it works. The outside info you see on the package only lists up to 893 but the inside info from the actual papers that come with the guide say it is for all 890 series routers.It's fairly well made but Porter Cable has it made in China now. Disappointing. The small plastic fence requires a larger one be fabricated for stability, but I am ok with that. It uses a coarse thread fence adjustment which could be better by simply using a fine thread adjustment rod. Overall it's a good value.I managed to make it work for what I needed. It's not festool, but your not paying festool prices either. Porter-Cable is a mid-tier brand, but I think it is generally priced low for what you are getting so it's still one of my favorite brands based on value and bang for your buck.Rigid should learn from companies like Porter Cable. My Ridgid router did not come with an edge guide and to buy a separate edge guide from Home Depot or Ridgid is like looking for a needle in a hay stack. I note someone commented on the tool adding to the weight of the router assembly and making it awkward to use. It certainly adds to the router's bulk but not particularly more than any other edge guide. As far as edge guides go this one is absolutely top rate. June 20, 2020 I bought this and it connects well to my PC routers 7518 and 892. I enjoy the edge guide and fine adjustments I can make. The only downside I have is that when trying to use the circle cutting feature, I can't remove the screw where the pin goes as the screw is locked in tight. I have stopped trying to remove it as I am afraid of completely rounding out the screw head. Would love a suggestion how to get the screw out as I want to use that feature of the guide. Overall very high marks on this guide except for this screw issue. I hope you bought that too, but mortises can be made without it. When I ordered it for my CRB7 I had already built the box and had quite a challenge figuring out how to modify the box as little as possible, yet provide a good way to get the MHLF accessory inside the box. For a while, it was looking like I might have to make a replacement box, but I managed to figure a way after studying the problem for a while. It isn't quite as elegant as it might have been if I made a new box designed to include it, but it fits. I'll try to add a picture of the box modification, if you are interested. There are two additional diameters of guide rods available for the CRB7, but none of the US sources seem to be carrying them as an option. Lee Valley was able to get these from M Power for me. I have many routers with different guide hole diameters, so I wanted the additional sizes. You might also be able to buy these direct from M Power. The only problem that I've had with the CRB7 so far has been my fault. I failed to get the wing bolts of the router base tight enough against the CRB7 guide rods and they slipped during the cut. Fortunately, I needed a second, but smaller diameter circle as well, so I was able to re-cut the damaged larger circle to make the smaller circle from it. Then make a new larger circle, so I didn't even waste much wood. Charley If that proves too cumbersome or awkward to do then I'll order the MHFL. Save some money if possible. I would love to see the box you made for the CRB7. It should be here tomorrow and hopefully in use this weekend.
