I can swing the wrenches myself a bit, but some of the things I've read about servicing the Ducati twin in general, and on this bike in particular, scare me a bit - things like the whole bike has to come apart to adjust the valves. Or should the secksi overrule the rational?:huh That is an exaggeration of what's required. If you are an average wrench you can do it as well. It's not rocket science. Ride a Gran Canyon and then ride any other big adventure bike and you will be sold on the Cagiva. The sound and power characteristics of the Ducati engine are intoxicating. Not as good a dirt bike as the KTM 's but I dont turnaround when the pavement ends. Not as fast as the ST 3 but much more comfortable. I keep thinking about an engine swap with the ST 3. One of the best kept secrets in the ADV bike market. After riding it a while I relized I could have saved about 12 grand if I would have bought bags for the GC. Its much more comfortable. Bought mine for ?1600 unseen, picked it up and rode it 12,000 km around Europe and had a great time. The only things that needed replacing were calliper piston seals (same as Honda 600 Hornet and others) and a clutch piston seal. Oh, and the regulator blew, but that gave me the most amazing travel story and wasnt expensive to fix (my own fault, I knew the wiring was bad before I left) Had a 1200GS for a summer, and although that is a mega piece of kit The GC is a better, more manageable bike for banging around the street, blasting across a desert and ripping up fire trails.
