And maybe it is better that way because the BMW is an expensive, complex, computerized vehicle that requires more than a set of tools and a Haynes repair manual--simple things that will usually suffice for work on my old Toyota.That is very disappointing, since obtaining those two information blocks was the primary reason I purchased the book. Apparently the lower sales volume for cars with this engine justified omitting those procedures.But it also leaves out some things that may matter to some. In my case I have a rear window shade. I bought a 1998 740iL about a month or so ago. After the diagnostic, the window shade stopped working. This manual does not give instructions on how to access the rear window shade motor, or how to trouble-shoot this problem. From the fuse box under the hood I could identify which fuse is related the to shade. The manual also discusses fuses. The fuse is fine. Manual has no help for me on the window shade. Just not much in the way of trouble-shooting problems. This is one reason I bought the manual.Mainly for the American versions of the car, with little if any regional info, so if you live in Japanb or Europe, you may have to suppliment it from other sources.Based on USA. Conversely, if you're still worried about performing a task with the book in hand, then you're probably better off not tackling it yourself.This book has taught me so much about this car and then some. This thing literally has everything you'll need to turn a wrench, rewire, or fix on the 7 series BMW. If you own an e32, and are not a certified BMW technician, I strongly recommend that you buy yourself a copy of this manual.None of them come close to the size and volume of information supplied in this book.Now some of the pictures or illustration aren't the greatest, but that how it goes in service manual. It's still a must have for any knowledgeable owner, or do it yourself-er like me.However, it could be better arranged. Too much repeating of information relating to safety issues such as fire hazzards,etc that is mostly common sense. Did not cover checking of transmission fluid adequately as some of the BMW series use a unique dipstick tube cap with no instructions as to how to remove it. A special tool is required (for which a screw driver works if you know how) to remove the dipstick. In fact, the required information is not even covered in the 735i Owner's Manual. The Bentley Manual gives too much superflous material at the expense of essential information. Overall, however, the manual is good and provides what you need to know.
