Why Star Wars Collectibles Reign Supreme Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Please check back later. The Lazer Swarm Command Center is a device that allows hosting Lazer Tag Team Ops (LTTO) games from a Windows computer. The Command Center connects to the computer over USB and uses six high powered IR emitters and two IR receivers. It is compatible with all five models of Lazer Tag Team Ops taggers (Deluxe, IRT-2X Drone, Tag Master Blaster, Phoenix LTX, and LTAR). The Command Center supports nearly all of the game modes supported by the taggers including the hidden modes of the Drone and Tag Master Blaster taggers. You can create and save lists of player names and assign them to taggers that have joined. You can create and save rule presets with your preferred game settings (game length, number of reloads, number of tags, etc). At the end of the game, a scoreboard is shown with the team ranks, player ranks and scores, and a grid of how many times each player tagged each other player. The scoreboard shows players names so it’s easy to see who tagged whom and how many times they tagged them. The scoreboard can be shown in a window or full screen on a second monitor. One year warranty and support provided. This product is built by hand in small batches. Assembly time and availability of parts may delay shipment by as long as a month. For an estimate of current lead time, please send us an e-mail. Are they all compatible together. Because this will increase the value of your system. Your sales email isn’t valid anymore, could you please contact me via email for more communication. Maybe I can help with a translation into Dutch. Also I like to know the estimated delivery at the moment. I’ll check my sales email address and see why it isn’t working. Did you get a bounce message. I haven’t added the ability for the software to be translated yet but I am considering it. Currently, I can ship up to three units in about a week. Shipping time to Netherlands will probably be another 1-3 weeks, but I don’t know for sure. I can place the order once you give me the go. Two are already spoken for but the third is up for grabs. I should be able to get them shipped out this week. So the soonest that you will be able to ship them out will be in about a month. Bought my first PC in a decade just to run it. Sorry for the delay. Just one little idea. When we play, we use the same teams over and over again. It is really slow to drag the names onto the players after the guns have joined. Would it be possible to have an option to re-use the same player assignments from the last game. Thanks for the feedback. I’ve been thinking about how to improve the player joining process and I’ll keep your idea in mind as I come up with a plan. I now own two of these systems and 48 LTAR Lazer Tag Guns. We use them with our youth to host laser tag nights. Last year, I ran the event with 1 system and 24 guns. We had a lot of fun but the major complaint was how long it took to download the data and reconnect the guns. Because each gun operates independently from the system and stores it’s own data and then has to download it to the command centre, it adds a few minutes once you get up to a fair number of guns. That’s why I purchased another one. Rather than let it be a hinderance, I recognize this is a really unique product. As far as I’ve been able to research no one on the market has a similar product. I bought another 24 guns and another command centre and now while one group is running a game, we start setting up the second. The biggest delay is still the download time, but it’s a lot more manageable when you have another game about to start running. It takes about 7 minutes to connect 24 guns. For every game after the first two, when players come back, they drop off their gun and immediately head to our main youth area. We download the data, get the score sheet and save it to a USB drive.https://formations.fondationmironroyer.com/en/node/14206 We pop it in the computer in the main youth area and toss it up on our projector. The download takes about 3 minutes or so, so between the download and reconnect it takes about 10 minutes which just leaves 2-3 minutes to recap the rules for that game and get them out again. Very little downtime. I would love to see these features added: The ability to use the command centre as a respawn point, ammo refill etc. The ability to restart a game with the same players without having to reconnect everything. Until then, I’m still very satisfied with my purchases. I’m glad you like your Command Centers. Sounds like the kids are having a lot of fun. As for the features you requested, the Command Center will already act as a respawn point in respawn game types. As for refilling ammo, that’s not possible with the LTTO protocol. There is an LTAR-only protocol that supports it but the only people who know its details are under non-disclosure agreements and can’t tell me about it. Unfortunately, the protocol also doesn’t support restarting a game without all of the taggers going through the joining process again. I think you’ll have a lot more fun being able to play with more people. The Deluxe can also host games like the Command Center just with more limited ability to see scores. Then save up for a Command Center or ask for one for your birthday or something. I am saving up for one. What’s the lead time on production on your end and is there postage tracking. Yes, you will receive a tracking number. Can I get a total from you. Can you confirm that you’ve received it please. Btw, what’s new in the 2.0 beta? Riley McArdle Post author February 17, 2016 at 8:37 PM There’s a list of changes here: EDZ71 March 3, 2016 at 7:04 PM Hi Riley, I’ve receive the command centre!! Really cool stuff!! Thanks so far for inventing it. I have a question though: Is the red light supposed to remain lit as when the taggers are being detected. The taggers are being detected and work perfectly well with the command centre. However, the red light is still slightly visible amid the green. Is this normal? Thanks again for giving lazertag the means to be played the way it should be played!!! Cheers and Kudos!! EDZ71 March 3, 2016 at 7:11 PM Hi Riley, I’ve received the command centre!! Really cool stuff!! Thanks so far for inventing it. I have a question though: Is there a reason for the red light to remain lit as the taggers are being detected. The bright green light is the main status light. It flashes when the Command Center sends or receives data from the taggers. There are three other small lights. Their colors might be different on different units. One shows that the Command Center is receiving power from the USB. This is probably the red light on your unit. The other two flash when the Command Center sends or receives data over the USB. Rev D units will no longer have these three lights. Home much is shipping and tax to Texas 77494. I need to order some parts so it may be 2-3 weeks before I can get yours shipped. The electronics probably wouldn’t be all that hard but I have no idea how I’d make the missile itself. If you would be interested in making the electronics or even making me a parts list and diagram I would be interested. You might try in the Laser Tag Modders Facebook group. Maybe someone there would be interested in collaborating. Congratulations on a successful product. I didn’t see on the forum or elsewhere if you had made the units available for more than 16 players (besides the “hack” referred to on the forum). Do you have plans of expanding the amount of players the system is able to host. Thank you for your time. In team games, there is also a limit of 8 per team. There are ways around that and the work I’m doing on the beta will help make features like that easier for me to add. I’m really interested in buying your product for our Club. Yes, it will run on a tablet with Windows 10. Yes, the scoreboard can be customized (it uses an HTML template). Rev D just makes it easier for me to build. Rev A-C used an Arduino Pro Micro connected to a custom through-hole PCB. Rev D combines the two boards into one custom surface mount PCB. The three small lights I mentioned in the other comment are on the Arduino board. They aren’t useful for the Command Center so I didn’t include them on the Rev D board. I can’t figure out how to play the team games. When I start hosting a 2 or 3 team game, the command centre starts beeping and the lights start flashing. I can’t seem to assign names to the boxes neither. What am I missing here. This is cool. I am in the process of buying 4-Nerf Lazer Tag Phoenix LTX Tagger 2-Pack. So this works for multiple guns then.I would suspect some are better than others. Is it better to use all the same guns. How soon could I get one if I ordered now. I am in Canada S4L5B1. Each of the tagger models has its own pros and cons. Greg Gaub has some good info on the different models on his site: There’s also info on the Lazer Swarm wiki: You can mix and match different tagger models in a game, everyone doesn’t need to have the same model. I can have a unit ready to ship to you by early next week. Sorry, it has been years since I played. I think I know most of these answers but I want to be ready for summer.I can just adjust the length of time. What is mega? (that is the 3 hit shot?) only some guns looked to have this, is that correct.Riley McArdle Post author April 21, 2016 at 1:07 PM You can adjust how many total seconds players can use shields in the game from 0-99 seconds. It can’t be unlimited. Players can use shields for up to ten seconds at a time with a two second cool down between uses. Mega tags can add up to three additional tags to a shot for a total of four. Mega tags are only supported by the Deluxe and LTAR taggers. Team tags is another name for friendly fire. If it’s enabled, players can tag other players on their own team. Medic mode is complicated. It is only supported by Deluxe taggers and allows players to donate their tags (health) to other players. Slow tags limits the frequency at which players can be tagged to around one tag every other second. There are ways around it but the Command Center software doesn’t support that yet. It has a removable smartphone cradle designed specifically for an iOS smartphone device to be docked onto; Android and Windows smart devices will not work with the phone. The blaster itself also includes a grey Lazer Tag iPhone skin, a grey Lazer Tag iPod skin, and a white cover for the back part of the blaster when the cradle is removed.Unlike it, the LTAR only has lights in it's dome. The blaster is designed for use with an iPhone or iPod Touch. However, this feature is optional and the blaster can be used without it.When a 4th generation iPhone or iPod touch is attached on the blaster's headphone jack and the app designed for the product is running, the blaster's buttons can use used to navigate the menu. When in a game, the device uses it's camera as sights and shows a HUD. All the sound effects are replaced with new ones, and the blaster can switch between several different weapons. Using an iOS device requires a cradle which is permanent and cannot be removed without tools. This feature is completely optional and the blaster can be used by itself. During a game, reloading is done by pressing the bar located at the bottom of the tagger. Alternatively, holding down the reload bar will switch firing modes between semi-auto with 10 shots, and full-auto with 15 shots. When using the app, holding the Reload Bar opens a menu that allows the user to select their weapon and for navigating in the menus.A single beep indicates 10 tags and 15 seconds of shields, and a lock-on tone indicates 25 tags and 30 seconds of shields. During a game, pressing the shield button once will toggle the shields for up to ten seconds at a time. During this time, you cannot shoot or be tagged. Pressing the shield button again will turn them off. When using the app, it is used for navigating.Locking on in achieved by aiming the tagger directly at another player's receiving dome. When locked on, the tagger will make beeping noises. When the trigger is pulled when locked on, the enemy will get tagged, and the attacker will receive a hit confirmation sound to confirm that the enemy took a hit.Indoor mode makes the emitter less sensitive while Outdoor mode makes those features more sensitive. This requires a few steps in order to join. You cannot use an iOS device during a hosted game. You will hear a sound effect that indicates it's looking for a hosted game. Do not release the reload bar or pull the trigger. The host tagger will automatically assign the LTAR a Player ID. When the process is complete, the blaster's dome will remain lit.To join a specific team, press the Reload Bar to select the team of your choice. When you have your choice selected, hold down the Reload Bar to begin searching for a hosted game. Do not release the reload bar or pull the trigger. If no team is selected, then the host will automatically assign the tagger to the team with the smallest amount of players. When the game begins, the blaster will be able to use it's beacon and receiving barrel on LTTO taggers and other LTAR taggers. To load a Mega-Tag, hold the Reload Bar and pull the trigger up to three times. When firing a Mega-Tag, it instantly puts the blaster into overheat for two to six seconds, depending on how many Mega-Tags are loaded. The blaster must be in Semi-Auto mode in order to launch Mega-Tags.During a Hide and Seek game, the LTAR will announce what team is hiding, and during a Hunt the Prey game, the LTAR will announce what team you're hunting for. When the tagger reaches the host, the tagger's dome will flash to indicate that it's being debriefed. Once all of the scores are distributed, since there's no kind of display on the tagger, the LTAR's dome will flash to indicate if the player got a player rank or team rank of 1. However, there are good reasons for trying a port on Linux: the Windows unit is delivered with FPC in the Win32 distribution. Thus, the compiler will happily compile all calls to the windows system, without complaining. Not so on Linux: The Windows unit is not present, and this will force the component porter to pay attention to all occurrences of the Windows unit in the sources, and remove 4 them (because the compiler will report an errror). A second reason for attempting a port is the immediate verification that the component works cross-platform. Last but not least, the filesystem of Linux is case sensitive: this will force the porter of components to choose the correct casing for the units (s)he wishes to port. The component which will be ported is an edit component (TEditBtn) which is a regular edit control, with a speedbutton attached to it: the speedbutton is generally used to pop up a dialog to allow the user to select a value - the value will then be filled in in the edit control. In fact, specialized descendents of the general purpose component are being created to perform the first 4 tasks. The original component TEditBtn (by Louis Louw) was found on Torry’s pages. The sources can be found on the CD-Rom that comes with this issue. From the listing it is clear what methods will need to be looked at: the message methods to start with. The CreateParams method and CreateWnd calls are also dangerous: on Windows they serve to create the windows handle for the component. As the LCL has it’s own mechanisms for creating a windows handle, these calls also will need to be looked at. But first the uses clause will be taken care of. The corresponding TCMGotFocus record is called TLMSetFocus. The implementation of some methods also needs some work. The only code that actually needs changing is the setting of the parent: In Lazarus, not any widget can contain child widgets. Therefore the line which sets the parent must be changed, so the form is made parent of the button. This also means that the top, left coordinates of the button will be measured relative to the form, rather than relative to the button. This must be taken care of in subsequent methods. All the rest of the code will compile and work just fine. The CheckButtonVisible method checks whether the button should be made visible or not: The ButtonOnlyWhenFocused property determines whether the button is visible when the edit control does not have focus. Since the check must be made at various places, the code for it has been moved to a separate procedure. The button width can be set by the user throught the ButtonWidth property, and initially, the button is made square: the height is the same as the width. This code makes sure the cursor will never disappear ’under’ the button by telling windows that only the area not under the button may be used for editing. This call disappears for 2 connected reasons: 1. The button is drawn outside the edit control in the LCL 2. The call is not supported in Lazarus: an edit control cannot contain a button, so adding the call would make little sense. Therefore, the call is removed. The next method implementation that needs checking is the WMSize message handler. The button width is kept, as it can be set by the user through the ’ButtonWidth’ property. The GetMinHeight method is removed, as it is not really needed: The LCL makes sure the controls are big enough. With these changes, the component should compile. The code of the final component can be found on the CD-Rom accompagnying this issue. It will most likely be included as a core component of Lazarus, together with some descendent components. 5 Installing the component in Lazarus Now that the code compiles with Lazarus, it would be nice to have the component visible on the Component palette. In Delphi, this would be done using a package: One would create a package, insert the unit in it, recompile the package and install it in the IDE. For single components such as the editbutton, the special dclusr package can be used: it contains all components that are not explicitly part of a package. Unfortunately, Lazarus (or better, FPC) does not yet support dynamically loading packages. But the Lazarus designers have made it really easy to install new components: Since 8 Figure 2: The lazarus package editor Lazarus is open source, it comes with the sources. Thus, to install a new component, it is possible to just recompile lazarus with the new component included. The IDE has 2 menu options for this under the Tools menu: Build Lazarus this will recompile lazarus, and will add any packages marked for inclusion to the component palette. Configure ’Build Lazarus’ This allows to configure the actions taken when ’Build Lazarus’ is called. In this dialog, the ’With packages’ option must be set if packages with components must be included. So, to include the edit button to the component palette, first the ’With packages’ option in the configuration must be set. Then the editbtn unit must be added to an existing package, or a new package must be created. The package editor will be opened: In the package editor, the ’Add’ button can be used to add a unit to the package, as can be seen in figure 2 on page 9. When adding the unit, lazarus must be told whether the unit has a ’register’ procedure to register components. If the flag ’Has register procedure’ is set, then Lazarus will call the register procedure of the unit. As a result the component will be included on the component palette. The ’Virtual unit’ option is meant for cases when the package registers components in units that are not part of the package file list. In that case the units not contained in the package are added to the file list as ’virtual units’. This allows Lazarus to calculate package dependencies in a correct way. As an example the mysqllaz or interbaselaz packages can be viewed: They are distributed standard with Lazarus, and all contain virtual units. Thus, to register the editbutton, the ’editbtn’ unit must be added to a package (let it be 9 called ’editbutton’), and the ’has register procedure’ flag must be set. The package can be marked for inclusion in the IDE with the ’Install’ button of the Package editor. Lazarus will add it to the list of packages marked for inclusion, and next time when the IDE is built, the package will be included: All that is left to do is install the package, rebuild lazarus from the ’Tools’ menu, and after everything was recompiled succesfully, restart lazarus. There should be a new page called ’MBS’ which contains the editbutton. 6 Adding an Icon: Resources The usual way to add an icon to the component palette in Delphi is to create a resource file with a bitmap that has the name of the component. This is no different in Lazarus, only the procedure to add the resource is different, as the FPC compiler does not support including of resources on Linux. So, to add an icon to the Lazarus component palette the following must be done: 1. Extract the bitmaps from the original delphi resources. This can be done with the image editor from Delphi. In general, the resources must be loaded before they can be accessed from the program. 10 The same procedure can be followed to add about any resource to the binary. The ’LazarusResources’ instance class manages all resources added in this way. A small case study was presented, and various issues that most certainly will show up, have been pointed out. This concludes porting compontents to Lazarus: the next step is porting complete projects, but this is left for a future contribution.
