Please use twttr.widgets.createTimeline instead.The main island, Pulau Langkawi, is a spectacular mix of palm-fringed white sand beaches, tempting ocean and rainforested hills, but with all the trappings that make for a superb holiday: accommodation catering to all budgets including some first-class resorts, duty-free shopping, restaurants and nightlife, and attractions on and off the water to satisfy both a thirst for adventure and the need for quiet contemplation. Pantai Cenang, with its glorious white sand and a host of beachfront resorts, restaurants and bars, is the most popular. Other excellent beaches include the nearby Pantai Tengah and the more secluded Pantai Kok, home to several high-end resorts. This is also the embarkation point for the Langkawi Cable Car that will whisk you to the top of Mount Mat Cincang for some amazing views. Just when you thought you had tested your head for heights, there’s more: the astounding Langkawi Sky Bridge suspended above the jungle canopy. Safe, but a challenge for the faint-hearted.

Most restaurants and bars are in and around the beachfront at Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah, with an eclectic mix at Pantai Kok and in the main town of Kuah. Other hotspots include the high-end resort restaurants and bars at Datai Bay and Tanjung Rhu. Some of the best local dishes draw heavily on the wonderful Langkawi seafood such as lobster, prawns and crab. Where to Stay It comes as no surprise that, like the restaurants and bars, the vast majority of places to stay are based around the beautiful beaches and the busy main town of Kuah, the arrival point for people journeying to Langkawi by ferry. There is a diverse range of accommodation on the island, from budget to five star, and including serviced apartments for those who prefer to self-cater, at least in part. Think Pantai Cenang for the biggest range, shopping, and beachfront restaurants. Pantai Tengah is quieter and popular with families, Dantai Bay is home to luxury resorts, while Pantai Kok offers good access to key attractions such as the cable car and waterfalls. Shopping The popularity of Langkawi as a destination really started to take off in the late 1980s after it was granted duty-free status by the government as part of a deliberate campaign to develop island tourism. You will now find duty-free shopping centres and malls in the capital Kuah, with 60 outlets in the Teow Soon Huat centre alone. Pantai Cenang boasts two shopping centres as well as a host of beachfront outlets selling souvenirs and gifts. At the Atma Alam Batik Village in Padang Matsirat you can watch a demonstration of the art before you buy. For markets, the Thursday Temoyong Night Market in Pantai Cenang is a popular spot. Langkawi like a Local Every night is market night somewhere on Langkawi. If it’s Sunday, it must be Padang Matsirat and if it’s Wednesday it must be the town of Kuah. Along with the Thursday Temoyong market in Pantai Cenang, they tend to be the largest and busiest of a seven-day rotation around the island. As well as budget buys, these markets are a great place to try the local street food such as sizzling satay, lemongrass chicken sticks, noodles, seasonal fruits and juice. In fact I don't think quad bikes are even allowed on public roads in Malaysia. I actually wanted to buy one for my housemaid thinking that this is safer for her but they are not allowed on public roads. I have never seen a single one here on Langkawi. Adventures are from 15-minute test runs to two-hour jungle adventures. You can experience open fields, mud baths, rocky paths, rainforest and river crossings. Look for Eddy. The condition is OK but definatlly not top of the class. My bottom line is, as long as the vehicle running properly and with reasonable aircondition, I wouldn't have complains. The Agent will contact the Renter where possible if it receives parking or traffic summons pertaining to the period under rental. Otherwise, Renter's particulars will be submitted to the authority concerned. On confirmation, a refundable deposit will be charged to the card. The balance due will be payable direct to the Operator. A 20 refundable deposit of total Rental value is required. Refunds for cancellations will be made as follows. For cancellations less than 5 days (Normal Period) and 30 days (Peak Season) prior to arrival, the deposit will be non-refundable and 1-day rental rate will be charged by the Operator as cancellation fee. J’ai navigue dans plusieurs regions du monde la Corse reste une destination exceptionnelle pour ses mouillages. Le bateau (dufour 520 GL) est en tres bon etat, bien equipe, et facile a prendre en main. Nous etions 11 a bord (dont 6 ados) et n'avons pas manque de place. Vraiment tres confortable. Lediglich das provisorisch eingebundene Tophorn des Gro?segels war etwas hinderlich. Aufgrund starker Bora und Seegang blieben wir die ersten beiden Tage im Hafen und hatten somit leider nur 4 Segeltage. Das Wetter und die Winde waren dann auch noch sehr wechselhaft. Da Segeln nicht nur bei schonem Wetter geht und am Abend die Heizung an Bord erforderlich war, war es jedoch eine tolle, weitere Erfahrung. Die Leute waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbeeit; so konnten wir z.B. unser Gepack am ersten und letzten Tag deponieren, bis das Shuttle zum Flughafen uns abholte. Der Bootssteg war seh weit weg von Buro uns Nassraumen. Es schien als wae das Ganze fur eine kleinere Basis ausgelegt uns somit etwas uberfordert, wenn man speziell die Tage der Schifssubernahme bzw. Abgabe betrachtet. Aber unter dem Strich sind das Kleinigkeiten, die nicht weiter ins Gewicht fallen. Z rozkladu wypadlo tez zwiedzanie Sztokholmu. Technicznie jacht przygotowany bylo bardzo dobrze, wszystkie urzadzenia byly sprawne. Kabiny byly czyste, posciel wymieniona. Przekazanie jachtu odbylo sie sprawnie, pokazano wszystkie istotne szczegoly techniczne. Jacht byl zarejestrowany pod bandera francuska, jednak nie pokazywal flagi (brak faglsztoka i bandery, brak bandery na achtersztagu, brak szwedzkiej banderki komplementacyjnej pod salingiem). Jacht zostal przygotowany do zeglugi szkierowej po przez dodanie kotwicy Bruce'a 10kg na rufie, z dodanym lancuchem 2m oraz tasma na bebnie 30m. Kotwica byla podwieszana i mocowana w sprezynujacym uchwycie. Nie dawalo sie jej zwolnic w trakcie podejscia, trzeba bylo przygotowac wczesniej i delegowac do tego osobe przy manewrach. Jacht byl wyposazony w odpowiedniej dlugosci cumy oraz kolce i haki do cumowania w skalach. Jednak podstawowa niedogodnoscia w trakcie cumowania w skalach i w marinach (dziobem do kei) byl brak jakiejkolwiek drabinki czy stopni na dziobie. Ze wzgledu na wysokosc pokladu od wody (ca. 1.5m) praktycznie niemozliwy byl desant z dziobu. Desant na skaly trzeba bylo wysylac wczesniej pontonem, a w marinach potrzebna byla pomoc na kei. Za brak drabinki na dziobie odejmuje jedna gwiazdke w ocenie. Polecam firma czarterowa, na miejscu fachowy zespol potrafiacy przygotowac jacht i pomoc w jego uzytkowaniu. Wczesniej latwy i skuteczny kontakt emailowy, Na miejscu komunikacja przez SMSy. Polecam czarterownie, jacht jak i same szkiery. Program rejsu zrealizowany, wszyscy zadowoleni:-). Leider konnten wir das Boot erst gegen 16h ubernehmen. Das Boot war in gutem Zustand. Las unicas sugerencias con el CAT son que el horno y cocina a gas parecen estar un poco tapados y sale poco gas para cocinar, los colchones de las 2 camas chicas (individuales de cubierta) de proa estan un poco viejos y los cabos de las maniobras se merecen un cambio. Son sugerencias para tener un 100 puntos, Por estos detalles le doy un 95 puntos. Buena capacidad de agua potable y tanque de fuel para pasar 1 semana entera 5 personas sin necesidad de recargar. On the last day the top of the mainsail blew out in a heavy squall while we were putting in the second reef; but no worries, the charter company was relaxed about it. Bora Bora was the least interesting of destinations; at least for us seeking less developed destinations. Maupiti and Huahine were our personal highlights. Really liked the passes and ocean passages. Doing the eastern part of Bora Bora cannot be really recommended for monohulls; it is all the way shallow and too stressful for the skipper and crew for what it is worth. We lost the generator on the 4th day and could not run the AC or chill box and lost some food as a result. Charter company ran another out board out to us and recognized that the generator was not repairable and offered a discount on our charter that was acceptable. Everything else went as expected and planned. Given the number of moving parts on a trip like this, we can say it went very smooth. En nuestro caso accedimos a un upgrade y navegamos un Lagoon 39 que se adapta mejor a un mar de bajo calado y con la existencia de arrecifes y corales, lo cual requiere de mayor atencion pero no impide navegar con mucha seguridad.
