There's a portamento control but I don't see a way to make it only glide on legato like the 303 glide, which is a shame. The OSC Balance control does what you'd expect. The OSC2 Pich control tunes it down by one octave in fine enough steps to get proper detuned phaseyness, and up by several octaves in semitone steps but because of the hysteresis of the pot it's hard to land it on an exact tuning. You can set it over MIDI, much easier. The filter is just a resonant lowpass filter, standard meaty Korg digital filter. There's a Decay control and an EG Int control that allows you to let the decay sweep the filter up or down. There are no other envelope functions of any sort. The Amp section just has a level control and a distortion control. The EM1 uses a bank of waveforms instead of just a few fundamentals, but the sculpting possibilities are more limited after you pick a waveform. No second oscillator, so no osc mods or detuning. You basically just have a resonating low-pass filter with drive, and the common FX section. There are quite a lot of waveforms to choose from though, but whether you like them is dependent on your taste. One advantage that I like over the EA1 is that you can actually have amp release.
