Heat The surface of the TV becomes hot in use, s o do not touch it. It rem ains h ot, eve n fo r some time aft er t he TV is turn ed off. Volu me a djus tme nt s Adjust the volume so as not to trouble your neighbors. Sound carries very ea sily at ni ght time. Therefor e, closing t he windows or using headphones is suggested.Disposal of the TV s Do not dispose the TV with general household waste.The fluorescent tub e used in th is display contains m ercury. Follo w your local ordinances and regulations for disposal. Handling of brok en glas s and li quid crys tal leakage If the LCD panel get s damaged, crystallin e liquid leakage may occur, or scattered broken glas s may result. Also, do not let glass fragments or leaked crystalline liquid get into your eyes or mouth. Sh ould either contact your eyes or mouth, rinse the contacted area thoroughly with water and consult your doctor. LCD scr een s Although the LCD screen is made with high-precision technology and has effective pixels of 99.99 or mor e, black dots may appear or bright points of light ( red, blue, or green) m ay appear constantly on the LCD screen. This is a structural property of the LCD panel and is no t a malfu nction.Doing so may damage the scre en surface.The image may be uneven or the LCD panel may be damaged.T his does not indicate a failure. These phenomena improve a s the temperature rises.I t may disappear after a few moments.This is not a malfunction.Fluoresc ent lamp This TV uses a special fluorescent lamp as i ts light source. I f the screen image becomes dark, flickers, or does not appear, the fluorescent lamp has run down and should be replaced. For replacement, consult qualified service personnel. Installation Installation s When installi ng or removing the TV on the wall, be sur e to use qu alified contractors. Wall mount installa tion requires the use of a wall-mount bracket. If the TV is installed or removed from the wall by a person other than a qualified contractor, the unit may fall and cause serious injury if the unit is not installed securely.Placement fo r viewin g It is recomm ended to watch the T V at a distance of 3 to 7 t imes that of the screen height, and in moderate brightness. Watching th e TV f or too long or i n a dark room wil l cause eye fatigu e. 6 If the TV is not s ecured properly, it may fall and cause injury.Protruding location Do not install the TV in protruding locations. If you install the unit in the following location s, injury may result.Oils Do not ins tall this unit i n restaurants wher e oily vapors occur. Dust absorbing oil may e nter int o the unit and damage the unit. Corrosion Use of th is TV near th e seashore may subject th e set to exces sive salt, corrosion and internal damage and re sult in deterioration of the TV’ s performance. If the set will be subjected to th ese conditions, steps should be taken to r educe the humidity and temperature of the a rea where th e TV i s loca ted. Ventilation The slots and openings in the TV are provided for necessary ventilation. To ensure reliable operation of the unit, and to protect it from overheating, these slots and openings must never be blocked or covered. Unless proper ventila tion is provided, the unit may gather dust and get dirty. For proper ventilation, observe the following: s Do not install the unit turned bac kward or sideways.Otherwise, adequate air-circulation may be blocked causing overh eating and cause fire or damage the unit. Outdoor use Do not install this unit outdoo rs. If the unit is exposed to rain, it may res ult in fire or electric shock. If the unit is exposed to direct sunlight, the unit may heat up and cause damage to the unit. Vehicle and ceiling Do not install this unit in a vehicle or hang from the ceiling. Bumping o f the vehicle may cause the unit to fall down and cause injury. Ship and vessel Do not install this unit in a ship or vessel. If the unit is exposed to seawater, i t may cause fire or d amage the unit. Never install the unit as follows: Air circul ation is blocked.Placing on a stable surfa ce If you place the unit o n an unstable surface, the unit may fall and cause injury or damage. Fall Do not hang anything on the unit. The unit may fall from the stand or wall-mount bracket, causing damage or serious injury. AC power cord Unplug the AC power cord w hen moving the u nit. Do not move the unit with the AC power cord plugged in. It may damage the AC power cord and result in fire or electric shock. Do not allow anything to rest on or roll over the power cord, and do not place the unit where the power cord is subject to wear or abuse. Antennas Outdoor Antenna Grounding If an outdoor antenna is installed, follow the precautions below. An outdoor antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits, or where it can come in contact with such power lin es or circuits.Section 810 of the National Electrical Code (NEC) i n USA and Section 54 of the Canadian Electrical Code in Canada provides i nformation with respect to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna discharge uni t, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode. This will prevent damage to the receiver due to lightning and power-line surges. Servi ce Damage requiring servic e Unplug the unit from the wall outlet and refer se rvicing to qua lified service pers onnel under the following c onditions: s When the power cord or plug is damaged or frayed.Adjust only those controls that ar e specified in the operating instruct ions. Improper adjustment of other controls ma y result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the unit to normal operation.Servicing Do not a ttempt to service the unit y ourself sinc e opening the cabinet may expose you to dangerous voltages or other hazards. Adjusting the Viewing Angle of the TV This TV can be adjusted within th e angles left and right (swi vel).Senses room light lev el and adjusts the screen brig htness acco rdingl y (see page 6 1 for details).
