Still, despite having come across plenty of decent earbuds with reasonable pricing, nothing prepared us for the Klipsch Image S4. It’s not quite to the point of being overwhelming, but I’m a fan of a more balanced sound. In Klipsch’s favour, though, is the consideration that the target audience for earphones at this price range will probably prefer something with a low-end bias to earphones with a more balanced reproduction. And besides, such sins are forgivable as the Image S4s are still lovely to listen to. With the right kind of music, the power of the S4s provides an arguably more enjoyable, if less accurate, experience than the Etymotics. The angling of the earbud tip posts help in noise isolation, and Klipsch tries very hard to make the noise isolation feature as prominent and efficient as possible. A slight angle change may allow airflow and thus sound leakage into the ear canal, preventing effective noise isolation and affecting audio quality and driver performance. The Hardsell The Klipsch S4 II comes with 8.5mm dynamic moving coil driver, with a frequency response of 10Hz-19kHz. The total weight of the entire set is approximately 11.9 grams. Claimed noise isolation stands at -16 dB. Audio jack is a 3.5mm. While you can depend on Klipsch to use great drivers for their in ear headphones, the noise isolation aspect isn’t always their best feature. The Klipsch Image S4 and S4 II were meant to be worn over the ear style, although lots of people don’t do so. Even when in the supposed proper position, many a knock sends the entire earpiece shifting causing lousy audio quality. While this has been improved with Klipsch’s extremely comfortable earbud tips, different ear canals may not all fit, thus a replacement with Comply foam tips is recommended as an alternative if needed to improve noise isolation and a snug comfortable fit. Also included in each set are three sets of different sized eartips, not including the one already fitted in the headphones, and a sip up tough fabric carry case. While the audio jack is gold plated for better connectivity which is a nice feature, and the cord tangle resistant like mentioned earlier, the audio jack plug itself is not angled, nor does it have an additional one piece tapered sheath connecting it to the cord. This may make it less hardy and easier for the cable to rupture or stretch out at the jack when it is being pulled to unplug, compared to right angled jacks, and more recently, 45 degree angled jacks which we think are by far the best. Minor issue however, as some people like it this way as it is easier to connect to the top female gender audio plugs on portable players. Audio Quality The sound quality of the Klipsch Image S4 II is well balanced and good for overall use, although not a dedicated audio purist set of headphones, so some parts such as the bass are not at the gold standard, but that is quite expected. This may actually be due not to the drivers, but the sound isolation, so with the Comply foam tips as mentioned earlier the bass might sound more punchy and meaty compared with the normal earbuds used. The mids and highs are excellent, and in line with the Klipsch audio quality standard. The highs are pleasant and not tinny or fake, and warm. The mids however, were a bit fuzzy, but after a bit of using, they became more well-rounded, and while we wouldn’t say they were sharper per se, they definitely sounded like it, and were much smoother, and did not sound unnatural. All in all, great audio quality as was expected from Klipsch, although some minor tweaks and adjustments could be made to make the hardware compatible with the great audio quality as per the noise isolation issue mentioned. The Lowdown The Klipsch Image S4 II is a new and slightly improved version of the old Klipsch Image S4 II, and while lack in-line playback, volume control or voice control functions, they are very comfortable, and provide great audio quality. With improved durability, this model is good, but not great for mobile use. Nope, the real development here isn’t the earphones at all; it’s the Android app that Klipsch developed to work with the earphones. Inside the box we found accessories similar to those included with the S4 and S4i-three differently sized eartips, a small zippered pouch and a clothing clip. A small card reminds us to download the Klipsch Control app to take full advantage of the headphones. Otherwise the earphones appear to be exactly the same as the other two S4 models in Klipsch’s Image line.Their light weight and secure fit make them easy to wear for long periods of time. The excellent seal provided by the silicone eartips afford the S4A a good amount of passive noise isolation, which should prove useful to travelers and commuters. We found that we had to back the volume dial off several notches on our iPhone, HTC MyTouch 4G Slide and HeadRoom micro amp. A fringe benefit of this sensitivity is that poorly powered phones (like the iPhone) won’t have to work quite as hard to drive the earphones to high volumes and, at lower volumes, we have to say that the S4A make the iPhone’s output sound significantly less sucky than we’re used to putting up with. Though we didn’t feel the S4A were as well balanced or quite as revealing as our reference NOCS S400, they do provide a totally exhilarating listening experience. Bass is solid and well pronounced, especially for such a tiny earphone. There’s also a generous amount of attack lent to drums and other percussive sounds that results in a nice pop that really brings the beat home. High frequency response was varied depending on the source material. If the treble on our test tracks was overly hot, the Image S4A brought that fact across in piercing fashion. Otherwise, the S4A brought out plenty of detail and eloquently danced around sibilant sounds produced by shimmering cymbals and hi-hats. First, remember that it is because of the Android operating system that a separate app is even necessary to provide music and phone call control. So, we’ve got to give the nod to Klipsch for getting an app developed and working to get it available to consumers. You can also initiate voice search, voice command, redial, answer a call, mute the call and end the call. Click speed can be adjusted using a nifty calibration tool that bases the setting on the users triple-click speed. Default volume, minimum volume and maximum volume for both music and phone calls can be set to the user’s preference. There’s even an option for the app to activate automatically when earphones are inserted into the device. We aren’t big fans of the volume control, which requires a long single click that drops the volume to the preset minimum level before incrementally raising it. We also don’t like that pressing the control button to pause, play, change tracks or adjust volume pulls the user out of whatever app is being actively used, though we will grant that returning to the previous app on our MyTouch 4G Slide only required the “last’ button to be pressed once. After all, the Image S4A work just fine on the iPhone as a single-button controller. It turns out that, yes, the Android app that Klipsch developed can be used to provide enhanced control for any single-button earphones, not just the Image S4A. Klipsch admitted that it had considered that possibility but after due consideration decided not to. It turns out that Klipsch seems to feel pretty good about the fact that it is the first to make an app that provides this kind of control for Android device users and would just as soon get its name out there to a broader scope of people than exert an oppressive thumb down on those who just want to get more use out of their phone. Now that’s classy. Well played, Klipsch. Our visit to the JAYS website shows that the Android section is down for the count so we are not presently able to make a comparison of the two. Most in-ear headphones are too big for me to use but Klipsch offers an extra small ear bud and used to be made of great quality. I thought I had lost my original pair (purchased several years ago) so I ordered these as a replacement. But these new versions with the flat cable are a great disappointment. Not only are the flat cables heavier than your traditional cables (so they weigh down in your ears and the mic droops away from your mouth) but mine stopped working after a month - the audio would cut in and out and the mic stopped working completely. Luckily Amazon refunded me my purchase. And thankfully I found my original pair later and they are still functioning.I had a pair for almost 5 years before they broke. They have good sound and are indeed noise canceling. The best part for me is the ear buds themselves. They are the most comfortable in-ear headphones I have ever owned. Plus, the mic works flawlessly with my iPhone 5s. However, the headphones I received were not the ones pictured. The headphones I received were the second generation of the S4i, not the originals. The color was white and gray instead of the white and black pictured. In addition, the cord is a thin flat shape instead of round.So i thought this is a no brainer, i will buy the again as i loved the sound and comfort.Since my son has bad luck with earbuds, i got insurance on one pair (Asurion). Turns out i should have gotten insurance on both pairs. Right earbud blew out (no sound) in OK, interesting, huh. I will remember that in the future when i buy from Amazon. I went back to Asurion and read them the email, and they processed my claim with no trouble.I love all sorts of music, and these have a great midrange as well as bass and treble. I’ve read a lot of reviews and most complaints have to do with size and fit of the tips. For years I bought other silicone tips because I have small ears, and I needed something sized. But one reviewer mentioned the Comply Foam Premium Earphone Tips and I’d like to thank that guy. Because they’re foam, they conform to your ear shape. They’come in small, medium and large. But the quality of the sound is even better with these. Plus the snugger fit of the foam is better at muffling ambient sound too. I’d like to shake the hand of the guy who recommended them. They’re worth it.Do Not Buy! If you play sound at more than 60 volume on these buds, it starts clipping and the sound becomes distorted. And the buttons were glitchy with my iPhone. The volume up button would pause the audio for a moment and then turn the volume way down. I don't know if it's Klipsch or the seller, but I don't plan on buying from either anymore. I would have returned them, but since I didn't use them often at first, I didn't realize the full extent of the issues until after the 30 day return window had passed.These headphones blow them all away in terms of overall sound quality, comfort and function. Fit is snug and comfortable. Remote works well with my iPhone 6. As others have mentioned you get a flat cable on the phone side of the remote. I'll be buying another pair to have in case they change or stop making these.My preference is the Klipsch custom 3, then the S4i's. Now the BAD news, within a month the Custom 3's left hand earpiece became intermittant,(and the cable on these is reinforced), swapped for the Senheisers. After a year same problem with the S4i's, until it was obvious the cable was broken inside. Checking the internet for repairs it is a COMMON problem, and don't expect any help from Klipsch because they know, and broken cables will NOT be repaired. Very frustrating because the SOUND quality IS SUPERB !! for such expensive phones it is an obvious design weakness which has to be addressed. I also own a Klipsch ipod dock, again for the money fantastic sound, even compared to the Bose, and built to LAST !! I would love to buy Klipsch again, but in all honesty I know the same problem will arise. Too expensive to last around a year. I am 63, so not some teenager using them for hours every day. I use only when travelling by train or plane. At home I have some Senheiser (H525 ?) closed headphones. Looking at other reviews for all the Klipsch range even the most expensive model, all have the same problem, the cable breaking far far too often within months of just light use. Surely reinforcing the cable join can't be a big deal to improve what is acoustically a great headphone.They create a very good seal in your ear canal (and come with many different earbud sizes to fit different sized ear canals), to the point where people have had to be yelling and waving their arms at work to get my attention. One thing I did not care for is that you can hear the cord rubbing on things very loudly because they totally plug off your ears. I found they are not good for walking around with because every time the cord bounces against your body, you feel the reverberation in the earbud. They sound very good if you remain still while using them. I was originally very impressed with the bass in these, but a month after purchasing them Apple released their new headphones with improved bass and I've not used these much since then. I find the Apple ones to be far more comfortable, they don't have the same issue with hearing the cord move and they're only marginally worse in sound quality.Su alcuni brani si sentivano dei suoni che con altri auricolari non si sentivano.
