Jesse Johnson 5.0 out of 5 stars These are my first subs and I haft to say I made a smart choice going with Kicker. I will only be buying kicker products from now on. I am powering them with a kicker Zx1000.1 mono block amp and my system is slamming. Will need to invest into some dynamat though because my trunk rattles insanely. And the base in the car is quite powerfull.http://www.pkreality.sk/images/data/leapfrog-crammer-manual.xml

The solo X or barrick would be overkill for my car, but is tempting. I would reccamend this to a friend. Also the kicker Amp wiring kits are really nice wiring it silver tinted and at a great price. Hope this review was helpfull. My friend has a pair of rockford fosgates 12inch subs and my DCVR 12s blow his out of the water. Mine hit harder and sound better doing it. Both are hooked up to a 750 watt RMS amp. DEFINITELY recommend getting these. Once broke in they will hit harder then most people that will pull up next to you at the light. I make everyone roll their windows up when they pull up next to me. Some even turn their systems up trying to compete and then i crank mine up all the way and you can see on their faces that mine just destroyed them. They were loud as hell in my Explorer. The box is a little big so be careful you measure your space before you buy them. Also be sure your amp can handle bridging at 2ohm. I found out the hard way when I melted down the first amp. I purchased a better quality 2ohm stable amp and the sound was just amazing. These subs added some great bass. If you're looking for a simple, affordable upgrade from factory stereo and don't really want to spend a lot of time and money these are the subs for you.I got them delivered to me faster than i expected which is a big plus.Dont think twice just go for it.Tuned the speakers and spent the next week consistantly turning them down. Wow. I thought the car was going to fall apart. For the price and the sound definitly worth every buck I spent. Of course there are better systems out there but this one will rock your world. Would recomend to anyone.I have them hooked to a kenwood mono 1800 watt amps, and they hit hard didn't go wrong with these subs if anyone is looking to buy subs go with these you won't be disapointed my ears hurt lol it's worth it. Anyways i just bought 2 kicker cvr 12s, the 2007 models if that matters, in a kicker box. I paired them up with a new rockford fosgate 4 gauge kit and a hifonics brutus brz1200.1d. So me and my dad hooked them up yesterday and i was rather disappointed, they are not as loud as i thought they would be. They are louder but not terribly louder than my previous setup which was 2 pioneer 10s rated at 120rms per sub and they were wired to 4 ohms only getting 85-90 watts per sub on an old, cheap 2 channel amp. My question is could i have hooked it up wrong. I know the gain shouldnt be that high, I'm overpowering the subs by 50 rms each as it is. Or could it be my head unit.Would i need to get a HU with more than one 4v pre outs. Any thoughts, suggestions or input would be helpful, thanks. Are you sure you didn't swap any wires for the subs. If it's not very loud chances are you wired them out of phase, i.e. when one sub moves forward, the other moves inward, and they cancel eachother out. Try disconnecting one sub and see if that makes a difference. However I still think you may have wired the subs wrong I would double check all wiring like stated above. If everything is correct then build a box for them. Are you sure you didn't swap any wires for the subs. If it's not very loud chances are you wired them out of phase, i.e. when one sub moves forward, the other moves inward, and they cancel eachother out. Try disconnecting one sub and see if that makes a difference. What do you mean swap wires for the subs, the only wires i changed were the power and ground, other than that i took out one set of speaker wire because only one set was needed to feed into the amp as opposed to 2 sets from both sides of the box from the previous system the knob is called pac LC1 universal remote level control via rca interconnect The subs were already wired in the box when i bought them by the way, the only wiring i did with the subs was from the terminals on the box to the amp However I still think you may have wired the subs wrongIf one goes out and the other goes in, one of them is reversed. If the positive and negative terminals match the box input terminals, the woofer moving into the box will be the one that needs to be changed. An unorthodox method, but quicker than removing the speakers. Is it tight, and is the contact point sanded down to bare metal. Also, is it grounded to a sturdy location or a piece of sheet metal? Short maybe 3 foot 4 gauge wire to the metal in the back of the trunk behind the carpeting near the back of the rear seats. It's a very large amount of metal and it's sanded down well. But as I was searching for similar problems one guy had a weak power wire connection at his fuse. I remember when me and my dad were trying to put the fuse in we took one end of the power wire out and I don't think we put it in as well as it was before we took it out. Another thing is we were having trouble fitting the maxi fuse into the fuse box that the rfk kit came with, the inside of the slide where the fuse goes had to be sanded down due to imperfections which blocked the fuse from sliding in. I'm not sure if that would make a difference or not as far as lowered power transfer. Turns out the subs were in phase and wired correct, me and my dads wiring job was correct, but the head unit wasnt powerful enough to power the amp. They told me that alpine contracted panasonic for the low end HU i had (cde-100) which is why the output was so weak. The signal wasnt strong enough so either a new HU was needed or a output line device (im not sure what exactly this is). So they installed the piece and now im bumping loud enough to bounce a cell phone off my trunk, definitely louder than before but with about about half gain as opposed to full. It's easy! I don't know about ohms ratings, ohms stability, and wiring speakers in paralel and series, etc. I am a mechanic, and can run electrical and wiring really well.Heres what I want to do. I want to install infinity 6030cs components in the front doors, ran the with the existing wiring. I am not sure is there is a speaker I can drop into the rear deck, even if I have to splice wiring, that will sound better than the current monsoon setup. If there is, any recommendations.? I have heard alot either way. Some saying the speakers they installed sound amazing.Otherwise, can someone make some recommendations on subs, mids, and amp to custom install into the rear deck. I am not looking for a pounding system, just one which has a little better bass, little louder, and sounds damn good to ME inside the vehicle. I don't care about the people around me I would be happy if I could even get this to sound as good as the monsoon system in my 02 SSEi sounded. I am trying not to have subs taking up the trunk.Or are you gonna run an amp for said speakers. If you're gonna run an aftermarket amp to power those speakers, you'll want to run you're own speaker lines. The reason being, your current speaker leads run from the HU to the amp then to the speakers. You wont be able to use the leads after the amp (the ones that actually connect to your current speakers) You could clip the lines pre-amplifier and use those, but you'll have to do some internet searching to find out which wires go to which speaker. As for the sub, check with 1800 (he's the moderator for this section) His enclosure uses very little space in the trunk. Mine use quite a bit more space. 1800's Mine That will be the primary deciding factor on what we recommend. Also, there are MANY options available for running a sub that will take up almost no room. Off Topic: Keith, what is it you have.Or perhaps a 6th order?I am thinking this is the head unit I am going to use. Should I bother with the center channel speaker - or leave it alone. I am open to recommendations for the rear deck speakers, subs and amps. I have just decided to go all out with it. I do not need to be heard 10 blocks away. I just want tight, clean, crisp sound out of my system. Budget wise. 250 per set of door and deck speakers (500 total). 350-500 on subs and box. 250-400 per amp (expecting 2.?) Thanks again!Anyone have a recommendation on gauge of install kit. Install parts for head unit? (I don't care about the on-Star)With an enclosure built to your specs and tuning. Amps. Audiopipe apsm-4080 and an apsm-1500. The 1500 has recently been o scoped and clamped, proving to produce its rated power cleanly. You can certainly spend more and get better, but this will kick the snot out of that kicker prefab deal. And I love Kicker lol. Helluva deal. I use it myself Keith, I wish I had ass much room as you lol. No pics bc the box is hideous lol.I have also heard the polks in a buddies car they do sound damn good if those are what your getting i would personally do the polks up front and infinity in the back but you do not need two sets of components most people either run just midbass or coax in the back because its all about staging you being the driver want the best sound stage where your sitting. So here is the question what do you listen to because that should honestly help decide what you get. For love of all that is good do not by kicker subs pls lol.My personal favorite was the Tc sound epic 12 that my buddy has it just sounded amazing in 1 cube box. Here is the build we did on my buddys 05 Rsx with 2 ID 10s and boston acoustic s65 door speakers. 05 RSX Build and also here is the build we did in my buddys 05 mazda 3 he got the IDQs and other fun stuff i listed above. 05 Mazda 3 build We actually just re did his box about a week ago because he wanted to try a smaller box his new box is 2.3 cubes witch give him his trunk back and still sounds amazing in my opinion ill try and get some pics up of the new box if your interested. If you have them or some one has them could they post the specs. The main spec your looking for is the ohm load stability. One way you could check is pull out one of your stock speakers and use a multimeter to check the ohm load of the stock speaker, if its below 3-ohms it should be fine to run the polks and if its under like 2.2 then you should be fine with the infinities as well. The other thing to look at is RMS power, but I doubt the monsoon puts out more power then those speakers can handle, so that shouldn't be a problem. Honestly though, I would highly recommend getting a new amp asap.I think because of the monsoon in my 02 bonneville SSEi I was expecting more out of this system. Will removing the monsoon amp, and installing a 4 channel amp imporove the quality of everything else. Just looking for a temporary fix til I get everything else together.Lack of deep bass? Most music typically lacks information below 40hz so maybe I'm misunderstanding. Anyways, bottom line is that the whole system concept determines each individual aspect of sound. They all work together. If you don't like the bass I have a feeling that monsoon is more of a one note wonder setup. I've never heard one so I'm not certain. In addition, all of that distortion is probably a combination of poor signal path and a sloppy speaker cone. Why not just try replacing the monsoon sub with something from parts express. Give me the size of the speaker and enclosure and I'll go look around.Audio Build Logs: DIYMA and GPONA Sometimes I wish it were a little louder. The rear deck revebrates when bass hits. I climbed into the trunk tonight and noticed the deck itself makes noise.I think this is what I am hearing. Also the speaker enclosures are held down cheaply.I think I am going to dissasemble the rear deck tomorow, dynamat the top and bottom of the deck, and attach the monsoon amp with screws and nuts to the deck, and see it it improves. Can the speakers be directly mounted to the deck as well.Feedback Buttons provided by. Runs best on HiVelocity Hosting.
