An outdoor antenna system should not be located in the vicini ty of overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits, or where it can come in contact with such power lines or circuits.Section 810 of t he National Electrical Code (NEC) in US A and Section 54 of the Canadian Electrical Code in Canada provides information with respect to proper grounding of the mast and supporting s tructure, grounding of the lead-in wire t o an antenna discharge uni t, size of grounding conductor s, location of ante nna disc harge unit, connection to grounding electr odes, and requirem ents for the grounding electrode.This will prevent dama ge to the receiver due to lightning and power-line surges. Damage r equiring servi ce If the surface of the TV cracks, d o not touch it until you unplug the AC power cord. Otherwise electri c shock may result. Servicing Do not attempt t o service the unit you rself since opening the cabinet ma y expose you to danger ous voltage or other hazards. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Safety check Upon completion of any service or repairs to the un it, ask the service technician to perform r outine safety checks (as specified by the manuf acturer) to determine that th e unit is in safe operatin g condition, and to so certify. Ask a qualified service technician to dispose of th e unit. 8 A 300-ohm twin lead cable can be easily af fected by radio noise and the like, resulting in signal deterior ation.
