They are ideally suite d f or use in Very High Frequency (VHF) or Ultra High Frequency (UHF) two-way ana logue and P25 voice radio systems, however, the SB2025 can per form in a range of applications. The SB2025NT is an SB2000 with integrated Solar 2 Traffic Manager ( TM) and Network I nterface (NI) units. 1.1 SB2025 A PPLICATIONS The flexibility of the SB2025 series allow s it to be configured for a w ide range of applications. There are additional, secondary features integral to Solar that are designed to be of use to s ystems integrators in the building of a radio system to meet user requi rements without the use of additional hardw are. T he Solar NI operat es as a Central NI or a Station NI; they are the same unit. They are fully duplex and include all the features; it is a m atter of system conf iguration to def ine which is which and how they are used. System c onfiguration, bas e stat ion Rx selection, packet organisation and distribution are the core functions performed by t he Solar TM unit. Solar network changes f or operational purposes can also be made via the Sol ar TM Unit. All variants of the SB2025 contain a Station NI, which can be associated with either a separate TM or, in the cas e of the SB2025NT, a TM built into the same unit. The interface between the Station NI and the base station is entirely internal to the SB2025. There is no analogue audio interf ace t o the unit. As well as m anaging the operation of a channel, t he TM provides a s tandard DFSI conforming t o TIA-102.BAHA. 1.2.1 Method of Operation The Solar Cent ral NI is designed as the analogue interf ace, port, or gateway, to a packet switching network; the net wor k is ent irely the r esponsibili ty of the syste m s integrator. The Solar TM routes all Solar traffic and maintains the system configuration informat ion. To fulfil this role the TM is configured t o communicate with all other S olar elements on the network, as defined by the syst em design. This means t hat control and selective calling tones will be faithfully rep roduced at the output Solar NI. The basic information on the three core styles is as follows: (a). There fore, this mode of operation does not require G PS. (c). Transmitter Steering Sty le Solar is able t o be configured to operate in a Tx S teering Mode using commands f rom a host console syste m via an IP connection. T his feature is implemented to suit specific console models. (d). Single Tx, Voted Receiv ers Style A Solar SB2025NT can be configured to operate as a r eceive-only unit t o provide better r eceive coverage for hand porta ble users. 1.4 S OLAR 2 P25 Solar 2 provides the means to deliver synchronised audio that is carried over an IP network to multiple base station transmitters for simulcast operation. Buildi ng upon this well proven “synchronisi ng engine” the SB2025 supports simulcast analogue and P25. As with the original v ersion of Solar, the TM is c apable of controlling a m axi mum of 32 Station NIs, which may be deployed across m ore than one channel to a maximum of four. A DFSI c onnection can be m ade to each channel in t he TM or one or more NIs m ay be used in Centr al mode (Central NI) to provide the console Anal ogue Fixed Station Interface (AFSI) to an analogue or P25 channel. On Solar P25 systems, a channel m ay be c onfigured to operate in either analogue only m ode, P25 only mode, or automatic mode.
