Basically the biggest reason you are a student using a Turabian book is to cite your sources correctly. If you are unfamiliar with indentions, hanging paragraphs, etc.If you are using this to make sure you use a comma and not a period when writing a footnote or the correct way to cite a legal document or something, this is perfectly fine. A lot of people assume you can google Turabian just as well but I've found most sites are not consistent, use an old edition of Turabian, or only have basic citation examples like Books, Magazines, Two authors. I liked the way the book is divided, it makes our job easier for us to adopt and apply its orientation to our work. Although I believe it is easy to follow a guideline such as this, I do not intent to say that it is an easy work, it requires a lot of attention and work It will get my work more organized.Seriously, you will be using this thing a lot. The main reason why students buy this book (besides course requirements) is to use it for the citation guide for notes-bibliography format which can get confusing. As a bonus, the manual includes tips and tricks on how to write an effective paper, though some sections can be a little sparse. The weakest part of the book is its section on writing style which is, sadly, lacking. Overall, this book is great to have on hand and is clearly aimed at students. This style makes more sense than a Works Cited list as the Notes-Bibliography satisfies the ultra-inquisitive reader who wants to know who said what, aaaand right naough. Moreover, this Turabian-style lends to writers an air of immediate credibility as each Note is inserted. While Turabian-style is high-maintenance, the style is truly easy to use and very effective for those who need to establish credibility with readers immediately. It is updated and has been a classic source for many a research writer. Full of good sensible advice for the writer. It wasn’t always easy. It was actually quite rocky. There were plenty of challenges. I admit that I certainly contributed to some of the problems in our relationship. I have a hard time with conforming to authority and she proved to be a tough task master. She always demands conformity. Always. She is unflinching in her demands. Relentless. But I tend to always buck against that conformity and r It wasn’t always easy. It was actually quite rocky. There were plenty of challenges. And I was perfectly okay with our relationship as it was. But then I heard she changed. Back when we were together she was at version 6.0. And I am thankful to say, she has received a few much needed upgrades. She was looking rather tired. Now, she looks a lot better. She’s sitting mighty pretty at version 9.0. However it is a guide, you cant just go on and read it without implementing the ideas in it. I would probably return to it whenever I work on a paper until research methodology is ingrained as a habit. But after finally reading this book all the way through, I'm convinced that many headaches have been prevented because of it. It's a helpful reference for research and citation. As far as manuals go this one is much like all the others. I can't be very enthusiastic because I dislike the very precise structure of all the styles even while I understand the need for them. Frankly, I prefer the MLA format, and Turabian can take this pile of you-know-what and jump in a very deep lake with it. Preferably one with a sink hole. To the center of the earth. I hope I never have to use this book again.
