This is important because some manufactures (Sony and Alpine) ONLY let you control via the unit. I perfer the iPod mode; navigation is much easier and quicker than the scrollng menus on the unit display. Even in iPod mode you can track fwd and back from the unit. Another in the pro column: vast display color choices. This may not be your thing but it does blend in with the color of your dash lights. Also dims when your lights are turned on. The menus do have a learning curve but nothing too steep. USB will only let you control and hear the music you have on the iPod function of your phone. A major letdown for me. I will have to use the AUX to stream music. Also, while not a big deal to me, there are no handy preset buttons. Presets must be set and accessed via the knob and MENU button. Sound quality is outstanding. The EQ preset leave a little to be desired but is functional. Install was falling-out-of-a-boat easy. All in all a great deal. Prometheus30 Pro: This unit has everything that I was looking for. I wanted a unit that has a USB port (on the front was an added bonus), front loading CD player and a remote. Loaded a newer CD and it displayed the band and track title. Con: It has a lenghty process for changing the bass, middle, trebble, fade, balance, etc. Can be fairly destractive to your driving skills. Overall, a great product for the price. So to sum it up this is a great deck IF you actually read, or even skim through the manual. Also the preset radio stations are tricky at first like everyone has stated but i have only had the deck for a little over a day and it's been installed less than that and i have already figured most of the features out. LOVE the ipod controllability on this deck. Anonymous So this is my first aftermarket car stereo, i spent a good amount of time looking at different head units and after everything i looked at i decided i liked this the most. The unit can be a bit confusing at first, but once you skim the manual or just play around with it, its really easy to navigate. My favorite part of it is that i can connect my iPod directly to it without purchasing anything extra, just use the USB cord that came with it and you can control it with either the head unit, or the iPod itself which is a nice option. You can adjust everything to exactly how you want it, or use presets. Strandedinalimo I bought this stereo for my boyfriend for Christmas to replace his factory stereo. I was limited on money so needed to get the best for my money. After not finding really any seriously negative reviews I chose this JVC model and he loves it. He installed it himself, which went well even with it being his first time. The USB plug in the front is the handiest feature which was very important to look for. The color possibilities are endless. The sound is great, the remote is handy, it's very easy to go through stations. You have to use the knob to go through presets, but that's really a preference thing more then an issue because it adds to the physical appearance in my opinion. If you are a bluetooth user you have to buy an adapter to use it even if it says bluetooth ready. Overall I'd say it's a great stereo for the price with definitely a lot of features. SantaFeMan1980 This is the second after-market radio I have purchased for a vehicle. I looked great and sounded great both at the store and in my vehicle. However, for the technically challenged the instructions are confusing and the tiny buttons hard to use in combination to set station, audio, and other settings on the unit. Also, when a unit says it is XM or BlueTooth ready, I take it to mean the unit has those features which merely need to be subscribed to and not that you have to purchase additional equipment to make it happen. Posted 10 years ago.But you don't know that you need adapters to be installed on the back for everything: the hd radio, sattelite, ipod, bluetooth, etc. So to have this radio work for you at full capacity means that it will cost you 3 times the amount after you install everything. Might as well go for the more expensive radio that has all options available for you. It's very difficult to understand how to set stations, etc with this radio. You have to really play around with it to get the hang of it. The remote is too small and can easily get lost. This is great for a teens first car with simple controls. Also you can't really adjust the equalizer or sounds to your liking, you choose the options and it will adjust accordingly, but you do not have that full ability to tweak it to your sound. It's pretty though, and for the price if your not looking for a lot, it's ok.
