jds 750-er manualTo start viewing messages,If it's out there and has been answered I apologize. This is my first post in a looooooong time. I have a JDS 750-er ceiling mounted dust collector that used to work fantastic. After a about a year and a half with no use, I tried to turn it on again while cleaning my shop - Sheltering in Place has given me some time to get working in the shop again. When I turn it on it hums quietly but does not filter like it used to do. Has anyone else had this issue. Is there a fix anyone knows about. I looked for the JDS website but they appear to be gone. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tony If yours has seen significant use and then sat for a long period the dust residue may have set inside the unit. Unplug the unit and manually turn the wheel.after you clean it. Curved blade blower wheels load up. I will be out in the shop this morning and see if I can locate the manual and report back. Went with a simple three way I got from Amazon. JDS750ER had a well documented problem with the remote unit. They replaced them for free while the company still existed. Jet got it right, JDS not so much. I pulled the unit down and took it apart. The inside was surprisingly clean. I removed the back and fired it up and noticed the motor moved very slow. Unplugged it and spun the squirrel cage by hand and it moved freely. I noticed the large white capacitor was humming just from plugging it in even with everything turned off. I?m making an assumption that the capacitor is bad but can?t find a replacement with the same specification anywhere. I?ll update if I find one and get it working. The suggestion was that it should find the Start Capacitor but everything else is on a printed circuit board and is not easily identifiable. John - You said you added a simple three-way switch. I'm not opposed to doing the same assuming the issue is with the remote. If you don't mind my asking, can you tell me how you navigated the wiring.http://dawahcity.com/userfiles/ingles-sin-barreras-manuales-gratis.xml

Mine has four wires; white, black, blue and red heading to the motor. I'm assuming these represent the speeds.Alas, mine went Craigslist a couple years ago when I decided I wanted the loft space. I use a mask now, it is lower tech but more reliable. I believe the download here is faster, and there are no ads at all. Nevertheless, I like this one more than others. What convinced me that we needed one was helping him cut some mdf sheets a few mos. back. The dust was unbelievable and I know very toxic to breathe. It hung in the air for at least an hour and got over everything. Christmas was just an excuse, we needed one badly. Why American: I was looking at getting a jet since they had a great sale going on at the time but when I found out this was American made I decided on it instead. A few years back I purchased a few Delta professional tools and was so disappointed in the quality of the assembly hardware that came with them. I have never been stuck so many times by metal shavings that were all over the Chinese bolts. Now, I will pay more for any tool made here. The air cleaner arrived in 2 days in perfect condition. I wheeled it into his shop and stuck a bow on it. The installation: We hooked it up Christmas day, guys can be worse than kids. We have a suspended ceiling in the workroom so we took out two panels, screwed in the 4 supplied eye hooks to two joists. To allow for the tiles to be replaced, we cut out notches on the ceiling tiles and reinserted them after the JDS was in place. We also attached S hooks and approximately 3 inches of chain to the JDS while still on the floor and then closed the S hook loops so they couldn't come off before lifting the unit. This is easy to do on the ground and not so easy to do when up in the air. The unit weighs 60 lbs and since we aren't spring chickens anymore we used a 6' heavy roller cabinet that we use for tool storage to put the item on. It was easy for both of us to lift it up there and then roll it where we needed it.https://formations.fondationmironroyer.com/en/node/11390 It also brought the JDS within inches of the ceiling so it was an easy task (at least for the first few minutes) to hold one side of the JDS up to hook each of the the 4 chains to the 4 eye hooks in the joists. It was an easy job to level it since each corner bolt on the JDS can be individually adjusted. We would remove one chain, adjust that corner, put the chain back on, check level etc. All in all it took less than an hour to get it up and running. The remote: All the controls are on one side, are electronic now (no more pull chain), and easily reached with our lower mounting-even at my short height (5'). If you can't reach it, the JDS now comes with a remote control that you have to manually turn on and off. I don't think it will automatically shut off but I haven't left it on for that long to verify. To keep the dust off the remote and to prevent it from getting lost I put it in a clear plastic pouch that was left over from a wrench set I bought that even had a hole in it for hanging it on the pegboard. One additional benefit is that the remote works through the clear plastic pouch so you don't even need to remove it to use it. You do have to aim it at the unit, it is not RF. A piece of velcro on the back would work also to stick it to the wall. How we like it: This unit has made a world of difference in the air quality in the room. Now whenever we are drilling, sanding, cutting or whatever we turn it on. It is loud but not annoyingly so, this baby can suck some air. We set the timer when we leave and it does its job without us having to worry about it. Conclusion: Whew, that is it. I am very happy with the purchase and would do it again in a heartbeat. Don't put off buying something that will help protect your health. It is a nice heavy duty piece of equipment that appears to be very well made. I expect to keep it and my husband around for a very long time! As far as noise, I am not sure what the other reviewers are listening to, mine is quite quiet.http://gentaur-diagnostics.com/images/canon-powershot-sx110-is-user-manual-download.pdf I was surprised. I received the box, it had gotten wet somewhere because the box was disinigrated. I anxiously hooked it up, the remote didn't work. So I called Doug at JDS he determined it was a bad circuit board so he sent me a new one, I received it and it was broke, so I called Doug and he acted as if I was the only person in the world who ever received a bad circuit on the original product and a broken one in the mail. So I finalled received the secon replacement board and it does the same thing the original did. The remote does work, but I will push the button 10 times before i see a response from the machine. JDS also asked me to ship them the bad borads but they provided no return labels, so guess what, they aren't gettin' them. If the remote would work I would give it three stars, I left a message for JDS on their voicemail and no ne thought that I was important enough to call me back so I had to call them again. Companines just don't care anymore, and people wonder why we buy things overseas. Let me tell you, I bought a bandsaw from Italy and it has unbeleivable quality and customer service. Please try again later. From the United StatesI built a shop approx. 18x20 for him in our metal building last year and this was one of those things that you put off buying. What convinced me that we needed one was helping him cut some mdf sheets a few mos. back. The dust was unbelievable and I know very toxic to breathe. I expect to keep it and my husband around for a very long time! Please try again later. Please try again later. A quick call to JDS had them shipping out another circuit board in no time. I called Amazon, and without question they've sent me another one. I am still very pleased with my 1st unit, and the customer service at both JDS and Amazon can't be beat. I'd still buy this filter despite all of this as I think I just received the one lemon of the group. Just received the JDS 750. First impression: Excellent build quality. Second impression: get a friend to help you lift the 62 pounds over your head and chain it to the ceiling. Before plugging in and starting up, don't forget to take out the styrofoam holding fan in place. Once running, I was even more impressed; this is the quietest power-tool in my shop. A quick note on that: I've been renting my home for only a few short months and the shop is in the basement, I'm quite sure that it hadn't been cleaned since the foundation was laid some 15 years ago. Let's just say that the dust bunnies were on steroids that day. Not to worry as I was wearing a mask during this process. Back to the filter review: Within 5 minutes there was already a thick grey coating of nastiness on the pre-filter, no worries, that's what it's there for and 2 seconds with the shop vac had that taken care of. After I'd finished, I left the filter on high, and set it to stop in 3 hours. The next morning, there was almost no dust on anything except for the floor. This filter works as advertised, the remote works very well, and the timed shutdown feature is great, too. All in all, I am very impressed with this unit and would definitely buy JDS again. Please try again later. Please try again later. A. Morgan 5.0 out of 5 stars I've noticed that there is a lot of fine dust collecting all over the shop. The shop vac does a good job of getting up the chips and sawdust, but even though I don't spend a whole lot of time in the shop, that fine dust floating in the air and setting on everything was not good. I needed to put a fininsh of polyurathane on a desk I'm building, and I was worried about the dust settling on the top, so I purchased this. The first day I got it, I turned it on and with the air compressor, blew every thing off in the shop. With all the dust now in the air, you could see a flow into the air cleaner. I decided with that much junk in the air, I needed to be somewhere else. I came back in about 15 minutes and the air was clean. It was fairly amazing since when I've done this in the past, it has taken hours for the dust to settle back down. The first coat of polyurathane I put down ended up with a fair amount of dust in the finish. I sanded this down and with the air cleaner running every time I was in the shop, by the third coat, I was seeing a remarkable difference in the amount of dust in the finish. By the way, the timer on the machine works great, turn it on and walk away. I should have purchased one of these years ago. My only complaint is that the unit comes with almost zero in the way of instructions. The only instructions were to removed the styrofoam from inside the blower. Not that a lot of instruction is needed, but it turns out that you have to remove the screws from the top to put in the hooks for hanging it from the ceiling. The first night the fan ran all night even though the indicators said 2 hours. Of course this didn't hurt anything given all the dust in the air. I've got it figured out now, but a little instruction wouldn't have hurt. The packing job isn't that great either. It arrived with one corner slightly dented. Not a functional problem and since it is up in the air over 9 feet, I don't even see it. It certainly isn't worth returning such a heavy unit just for that little damage, but it would have been nice if it arrived perfect. Having the remote is great given that my ceiling is over 10 feet high and without the remote, I'd have to get on a ladder to reach the controls. Please try again later. Please try again later. Mel 5.0 out of 5 stars My shop is small (12 X 16), and a lot of dust floated around and collected everywhere when I worked. I was using a smaller air cleaner (RIDGID brand) with no success, and even though I used a dust mask for most of the work I do, my lungs were telling me it was time for a change. So, after some research, I bought the JDS and immediately put it to the test. After installing the unit, I put on my mask, turned on the unit, took out the air compressor and commenced blowing all the wood dust from ceiling to floor. The results were immediately noticeable and the entire workshop was clean and free of dust in less than a couple of hours. All I have to do now is turn it on (and the remote is excellent for that) and go to work, and my shop stay clean and healthy. The JDS provides an edge with its quiet motor (not whisper quiet but noticeably quieter than the rest) and with a filter on either end, dust collection was effortless. My lungs thank me, and thank you JDS and Amazon for providing such a great and health conscious tool. PS: this unit has a time delay setting as well, and I can leave the shop and an hour later have the unit turn itself off. An excellent feature! Please try again later. Please try again later. Jerry O'Brien 5.0 out of 5 stars Enter the JDS-750ER air filtration system. Upon unpacking the unit I did a test run before hanging the unit from the ceiling. The squirrel cage fan was out of balance causing the unit to vibrate. A quick call to JDS, a really nice chat with John and a new fan was on it's way. JDS even sent a replacement bag filter for my trouble.(how cool is that!) With the fan replaced and the new unit purring away on the ceiling, it's very quiet even on it's highest setting, I turn and sand on the lathe to my hearts content. Prior to the installation of this filtration unit the fine sanding dust would fill the air in the shop, settle on EVERYTHING, and even with a mask on I was coughing like a mad man after a morning turning bowls on the lathe. I recommend this unit highly and was very impressed with JDS's customer response. I am sure that the unbalanced fan was a rare exception to the quality I found throughout the rest of the unit. Finding a well made product produced in the USA is getting more uncommon today and I am pleased with the JDS-750ER and the way it cleans the air. I did alot of research prior to purchasing and would buy any product that JDS manufactures. A dust collector is next!!Please try again later. Please try again later. Amazon Customer 4.0 out of 5 stars Not enough to mess with returning it, but certainly a disappointment. This is, for all intensive purposes, a metal box with a fan in it and filters on both ends. The variable speeds are nice. When standing next to the unit on high speed, the sound level is similar to standing next to our forced air furnace while it is running. On low, the volume is reduced, but is still noticeable because of the airflow noise. I had originally planned to apply some noise-damping material to the case, but I really don't think that would have an appreciable affect on the sound level. I can't comment on th eactual filtering ability, but the air is certainly cleaner after running the unit, even for a half-hour.Please try again later. Please try again later. Mark G. 5.0 out of 5 stars I just received my JDS 750JER via FEDEX. It arrived in pristine condition and about 5 days earlier than expected. I unpacked the unit and followed the instructions. I too should have bought one of these years ago. I too have a number of Delta power tools, which I like very well. But so many Delta machines are now made outside the USA, and seem to be 'underpowered'. It was so nice to see the MADE IN USA sticker on the JDS. I am very pleased with the ease of filter replacement. I understand the others are quite a pain. I am also glad I got the electrostatic pre-filter. And once you install it, the weight shouldn't be an issue- just get some help lifting it.Please try again later. Please try again later. JPShooter 5.0 out of 5 stars Once getting it home I realized that I had given up many features to save a few dollars. I returned the Delta and got this unit, it was worth it. The JDS quality of build is far above the Delta. Heavier gage case and better attention to detail in manufacture. The pull switch will half whatever setting you have as high on the variable speed adjustment (each pull is - high, mid, off). I have reviewed the Jet product as well (only in literature, not hands on) and feel that the JDS is still a better unit. The Jet has the remote control feature which sounds good at first. I have a stereo in my shop that has a remote, never use it. It's never in a convenient place relative to me or I can't find it. I feel the remote for the air cleaner would be the same, and I feel it's just one more gizmo to break or get lost. The air cleaner goes on and off only once a day, no big deal. It would be nice if the JDS had a timer as does the Jet, but it's an easy addition if I find it necessary. The JDS says lifetime warranty, that's on the case only, the motor is 1 year. Not sure about the other brands. One more little thing. I've worked to create a nice atmosphere in my shop and I really dislike products that are sticker laden billboards for the manufacturer. I felt the Delta was an eyesore hanging from my ceiling and the Jet looks to be the same from the pictures. The JDS is subdued and professional looking, a small thing indeed, but perhaps something to consider if you dislike visually obtrusive logoism. I would buy this unit again and highly recommend it as a necessary safety item in any dust laden environment. Please try again later. Please try again later. R. Rhodes 5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding shipping time considering the unit was shipped from S.D. to Ohio. The unit arrived FEDEX with the box in good condition. After unpacking the box I discovered the unit to be just as it had to have left the factory. I ended up having to dismantle the unit, which is not all that difficult and lightens the casing considerably, in order to hang it from my garage ceiling. Had it up and runnig within 30 min. It is a little noisy but any time you move air that is common and had a slight rattle, just on low speed, in the screen protecting the electrostatic filter but a wood shim took care of that. Seems to do a great job of filtering and circulating the air. Please try again later. Please try again later. Sam 5.0 out of 5 stars I was not able to interview anyone with this particular item, but because most of the negative reviews related to damage or adjustments made necessary by poor packing or transportation, I decided to take a chance. My JDS 750-ER arrived in perfect condition and the delivery by Amazon was prompt (and free!!). I have not installed it in my workshop yet because it is still under construction, but I have installed it on a table in our living room allowing it to go to work on our dusty house (three dogs and we live in a rural area with plenty of outside activities constantly being drug into the house). It has been operating for about an hour and I already notice a difference in the house. I look forward to using this in my workshop and will probably buy another one to work in tandom as the workshop is 40 x 30 x 12. Thanks JDS and thanks Amazon.com.Please try again later. Please try again later. The actual life of the filter will depend on the amount of dust created each day. Our award winning Air Filtration and accessories have been the choice of amateur and professional woodworkers alike. The control panel on my JDS 750ER died. This was a common problem 10 years back, and JDS used to just ship a replacement. Them being out of business makes that unlikely in my case, so I am looking for alternatives. The filter itself back in the day was top rated, and that part still works well. But turning it on via the control panel produces inconsistent results, if anything happens at all.At its high point this filter was wired that way, probably why it was so highly rated, and adding the control panel with its remote broke an otherwise good filter. I see web posts where people talk about doing that (manual switch), but no details. Is there anyone reading this that went through that, what did you do?My 750 still works but, for another device I chose one speed, plugged it into a new outlet that was fed off a timer switch like those that get used for bathrooms or pantries. I used this 12 hour version from Intermatic available at the BROG. If the speed selection is important to you, maybe one of our Sparky's or Sparky-wanna-be's could chime in.Paste as plain text instead Display as a link instead Clear editor Upload or insert images from URL. Please upgrade your browser to improve your experience. Do any of you have experience with the filter system. Are there others that are just as effective (or ineffective) and should I get the higher capacity model. I’m a hobby woodworker but I think a few night time coughing sessions might be related to dust. I have an Oneida system installed. I also have a gas space heater and it probably stirs up a storm of small dust particles every time it fires up. I’ve ordered what seems to be a good dust mask but you folks probably know that we forget to put them on at times or we’re just plain lazy. Thanks for replies. At the time I bought it, JDS had out-performed every other filter that various comparative reviews had considered (Jet, Delta, etc.). Haven't seen a recent review, but it's safe to assume it's a top-notch performer. There may be some thoughts out there about having 2 in a larger, narrower shop, rather than one bigger one (just a thought). Did you check the JDS site for some kind of chart showing the size recommendations?? The 750 ER puts out 750 cfm of filtered air, which is 45,000 cu ft per hour. Dividing 45,000 by the volume of your shop gives 6.12 air changes per hour, which is more than adequate. My younger brother is a retired HVAC engineer, and he told me code required them to design for a minimum of four changes per hour, so six is excellent. Cool remote, too. I have the Jet for no other reason than someone was selling it for a sawbuck - good deal! My shop is small (just under 20 x 20) and i use it to help circulate warm air from my heater as well. Does an awesome job. Timer, remote, 3 speed.I bet they're all made in the same factory in China. The charcoal filters really do work, but are pricey. The do a fantastic job of getting all organic odors out (paint fumes, cigar smoke, etc). When I was looking to buy mine and did all the research, the JDS consistently beat everybody else on the stats with a cost premium. At the time, Delta had a great deal going that if you bought two of their big tools they gave you 250 bucks off and a free 690 router. I was getting the drum sander anyway, so for the price difference, I could not justify leaving that much cash on the table. The one feature I did like on the delta is a gage on the side that indicates when the filter is getting full. It's a quick visual to take the fileter out and clean it. Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it. There are other differences -- sorry I don't have an article to cite -- it's been a few years since I've kept track -- but I remember one review in particular that did a very thorough job of testing these unit in working conditions. There were significant differences between some of the units. Got a real good deal on it at a woodworking show. It is supposed to filter down to.5 micron. It too has a remote and 3 speeds and timer. Since I installed an upgraded DC that filters down to 1 micron, along with the overhead it works very well. I also wear a mask too. That way, they cause the greatest amount of circulation of air around the shop. I roll it around to where the dust is being created. I replace the filter when the velocity is half of the clean value. For less money, you could install an air pressure gauge. Oneida sells them, as do others. It would be nice if JDS supplied them as an option. I run mine when in the shop, and it has a nice timer and remote control. All you have to do is take the filter out and look at it to make the decision for yourself how much it's worth! If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it. I had several of the JDS products and was impressed with their quality of engineering, build, fit and finish. I checked out the 750 and the 3hp cyclone (all highly rated) in person and bought two 750's and the 3hp. The shop is two 12x48 rectangles with garage doors on a short end so one is 15' from the doors sucking up all the saws and sanding blowing towards the hand bench area in the back of one rectangle. It took me over a year to figure all this out and the 3hp will not run till I finally move in and get the sub panel set up. I hope this helps, Paddy I've got a gas heater with a blower hanging in a corner that blows a bit diagonally across the shop. If I get the filter, I think I'll but it on the opposite long wall ceiling so the heater and filter will set up a circular air flow. Does that sound reasonable. I can feel the air moving when the heater is going. My latest project is the barrister bookcase built on the Rockler plan. I was planning to use the plastic slide hinges that Rockler has been selling but the catalog that came a day or so ago has dropped the plastic sliders and offers a new design of roller hinges. UPS delivered them today. I put the first coat of wipe-on poly this afternoon and the case looks dead-on gorgeous. Now if the doors will only install right. Sign Up Now. Please upgrade your browser to improve your experience. It seems to get the highest ratings in the tool reviews. My question is, does it come with an internal bag filter and is it washable. Is the three pocket one that they advertise better or the original and is it washable. Thanks for the help. It's a nicely made machine and has performed flawlessly. I have the electrostatic filter on the front instead of the furnace type filter. It's very easy to clean, I vacuum it off when I'm tidying up the shop and only need to wash it once or twice a year. The felt bags inside are washable but the dust cake helps with filtration, you won't need to wash it more than once a year, if then. I just shake it out. The Penn State model I loaned to a friend, it's a far cry from the JDS. I sold the Smokeater, it was all electrostatic, a pain to clean and it snapped and crackled from the static. You needed to ground it out before you touched it or you'd get a serious jolt. The JDS will run from a quiet low to a strong, air moving high. I have it hung near my bag collector, so it grabs most of the fine stuff that gets through the bag, especially on inflation. My shop is significantly cleaner with the JDS. Of course, the most important part of dust collection is to get as much as possible at the source. Sign Up Now. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding. This device is designed to reduce the airborn dust and particulate matter in your workshop. The manufacturer claims it will filter 99 of the air in a 30' x 30' x 8' shop area in only six minutes (10x air change per hour). Filtered air capacity is 750 cfm (unfiltered capacity is over 1,000 cfm). For the removal of odors, fumes and smoke an optional charcoal filter has been installed in this unit. This unit is in excellent to like new condition PLUS has upgraded filters. If you don't mind wiring a custom switch and receptacle for the unit you can leave it switched on and control it from a manual or programmable timer switch (in which case the remote only gains you remote speed selection).
