Tech Guru 1.0 out of 5 stars Unfortunately it won't because of serious design flaws. Bad - almost everything 1. ADF is useless - Why You cannot clean inner most rollers. So after some use duplex scanning is dead, cleaning cloth won't help for inner rollers. ADF scanning window uses flimsy plastic between paper and light which obviously will have markings with some use as paper passing through is pressed against it. So unless you replace it after some use, you will have continuous running scratch marks across the scan via ADF. ADF uses single roller to pull the paper from tray. This is a nightmare design for duplex scanning, even slightly misplaced paper will get jammed when its reversed in tray below for duplex scanning - Result paper jammed, you cannot open ADF and release jamming rollers.https://arezzowave.com/userfiles/ibm-t61p-manual.xml To recover paper, all you can do is open ADF cover and pull the paper, if you are lucky you will get it back in one piece or in few pieces and there goes your important document shredded. Why can't HP put extra roller at top of ADF mechanism and pull papers properly to begin with or allow way to release rollers so paper can be safely retrieved is beyond any design logic. 2. Software provided is useless unless you stick to predefined settings in software, there is no way to change simple settings like brightness or drop a background color. To summarize you can use it as a flatbed scanner with predefined settings in HP software if that works for you. But for just flatbed there is no reason to select this model and pay this price, correct? It worked fairly well as a stand alone; very slow, but it did the job. Research the product thoroughly to make sure it will meet your expectations. Also, a word of warning when buying from a vendor called Galactics. Make sure you read and understand their return provisions and regulations, to avoid deplorable results, as I did, if the product fails to operate. Printers scanners and electronic products ARE NOT RETURNABLE.The 1st one I had for many years until the lamp started going bad, and the ADF was damaged a couple years ago. This brand new unit works great. I couldn't be more pleased.Unfortunately, I'm on my third, yes third, ADF unit. I'm glad that HP has sent me replacement parts, but this is ridiculous. The biggest reason I purchased this particular scanner was the ADF and the ability to do double-sided scanning. Unfortunately, this is turning into a case of 'you get what you pay for.' When I replace this, which may be soon, I'll probably fork over the cash for a Xerox unit instead.I have one for my home office and one for my business office. The 3rd replaced my work one as after many years, it finally gave out.https://www.thebiketube.com/acros-bose-quietcomfort-2-owners-manual The replacement one was faulty - HP and Amazon were great in simply replacing it with another and had it shipped out before I even packaged up the faulty one.The Scanjet 5590 is a nice piece of kit BUT the associated software sucks. I am running Windows XP. The software would not load from the CD, contacted the technical department, they linked into the back of my system to sort it out. I had been on the phone 7 hours over three day while they acesssed my computer, when enough was enough and returned the scanner to Amazon. I was eventually told by HP technical that the scanner driver would not load because I had loaded the FULL printer software?? Same company products and incompatable software??? It was a nice paperweight. It's bulky, it's slow, it jams, it's just awful Get a Fujistu ScanSnap instead!Turned the pictures sideway. Made them blurry, etc. A real citron. I tried 2 of them and they both gave the same resultsPage 1 of 1 Start over Page 1 of 1 In order to navigate out of this carousel please use your heading shortcut key to navigate to the next or previous heading.
