Maeve 5.0 out of 5 stars Kid is still alive. Well done! This is our first child together. He’s a 33 year old man boy who has never even changed a diaper. It was supposed to be a funny gag gift but I read some of the pages and they were so funny AND informative things I couldn’t put it down. Everyone at our family Christmas celebration thought this was a fantastic gift and wanted a copy for their husband, son, etc.! My husband laughed but he read this entire book cover to cover in about a week. He's a really fast reader but he said that it was very funny and he learned a lot. The book had great diagrams of babies, their cribs, how to change a diaper, what to do in emergency situations, etc. But they always use terms that men would understand. The pages are colorful and thick. The cover was nice and sturdy and very colorful. Definitely fit for a man. Now that the baby is about 4 months old, he’s gone back to read over a few of the pages again for reference. For example, what to do after a baby has vaccinations. The baby ran a fever and I wasn’t home and he wasn’t quite sure what to do. He popped that book open and read over a few things and tried them and was able to make the baby feel better quickly. It has totally come in handy! All of these things are probably common sense to people who are already parents, but if you're expecting your first, this will answer questions you may never have thought to ask. What's more, the book is written in a simple, humorous, easy-to-read way that makes its advice clear - it's hard to put down. I chose this book because it was written in part by a pediatrician, which means I feel most of the advice is coming from an evidence-based toolset.http://www.raumboerse-luzern.ch/mieten/bose-packlite-manual My wife is a pediatrician as well, and enjoyed (more importantly, agreed with) most of the book herself. There are a couple mild spots which are no longer up to date with American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations (I recommend you peruse their manual as well, though it's much longer and not nearly as fun), as there have been updates in the evidence since this book's last edition, but that shouldn't deter you - this book is all about the basics. This book is so simple and straightforward. It can be read through or skipped to certain chapters about certain topics. Its a simple read and honestly makes me laugh while reading it because of it refering to the newborn as a “make or model”, it lightens up the stress of it all for sure. I even got my husband to finally read this book on his own. We both 100 recommend it to parents as a simple read or a future reference when your model arrives!!Fun read from start to finish and well organized for future quick reference. I purchased this as a gift, but received a Kindle 'sneak peak' and was so pleased with this purchase I look forward to giving this as a baby shower gift often.I was looking for a fun, yet informative book for him about babies and what to expect. This book IS just that, the pictures are good and the length is good too. HOWEVER, he struggles with a receptive disorder, so I was looking for something that was a more straight forward read. For the average reader, this would probably be just that, and I recommend it! - it's really good, informative and a funny book. But for anybody who struggles with reading or has receptive disorders, this book might be a little difficult to follow through with. The author wanted to be informative to the general population with an attempt to make things funny and keep readers interested. Personally, I thought it was funny and interesting and learned a few things.https://institutolagranja.com/images/canon-hg-30-manual.pdf HOWEVER, if you read this book with the intent of wanting information straight and to the point, this book may NOT be for you. The former is fun to read, while the latter is more like an undergraduate textbook (straight, dry, accurate and to the point.) The latter was also interesting and but it can be 'information-overload' for first time parents.I'd recommend it as it's fun and quick to read, with lots of diagrams, so effective at helping you absorb a lot of information quickly. Which is a huge plus point. While it seems to be marketed at dads, the advice is for both parents (e.g. lots on breastfeeding), and the straightforward, practical approach will appeal to mums too. That said, I can see it would help dads in particular to feel more informed and of more help. Lots of simple advice and diagrams about preparing the home, feeding, sleeping, changing nappies, bathtime, first aid and common medical complaints - really useful stuff. However, as it's an American book, some of the advice doesn't apply to the UK. In some cases this doesn't really matter - e.g. you know you don't need to worry about finding a paediatrician or obstretrician and what services they provide, as we have the NHS; and you aren't realistically going to find a non-compliant cot on sale in the UK, so you can ignore the bit about (US) cot design regulations. In other cases, it does matter: for example, the information about strollers and car seats isn't much help - there is no mention of the fact that newborns should only lie flat for the first few weeks, and there are UK safety regulations about car seats that you have to abide by. This means you will have to look elsewhere for this information. If you're a first-time parent, you may well not realise this (although I'm sure you'll find out once you start looking into buying travel systems). One piece of advice included in 'childproofing the baby's environment' is to 'remove or secure any guns in the home' !!!! Would be great to see a UK version, but that said, the great majority of the advice is universal, so I would still recommend this book as it is. Just keep the NHS website to hand as well.It was quite funny while at the same time covering many important aspects of baby care. I bought this particular book having been able to 'look inside' and I liked what I saw. I do not think it will necessarily be the best book on the subject, but because of the style of the book it is more likely to be read IN ADVANCE, and I think for that reason alone it is a really good buy - the baby is a first baby and is not due for another 6 months. I was right! A few hours after receiving it the expectant parents were reading it on the ferry when coming to visit, and were enthused by the style - Judging by their comments I have upgraded this from 4 to 5 stars. It helps to reduce their panic, frazzled looks in the office. The times I have gifted these books, it was very well received and the guys said they felt more prepared for the upcoming birth. However, all this really consists of is a few different words for parts of the baby's body. It quickly gets repetitive and doesn't really add much. The rest of the book really just covers the basics. How to change a nappy. How to carry your baby. How to prepare milk. Even then, it's really really basic descriptions. I don't think it covered anything that the antenatal classes didn't. There aren't any particularly helpful tips for dealing with a baby that doesn't sleep well or a baby that struggles to keep milk down, etc. I found that the internet was a far more useful resource. I barely used this book at all. If your toddler rail was included with your crib, please see the manual for your specific crib. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it. You should try to reset the two computer boards in the washer. First of all, is the washing machine plugged in. If it is, has it tripped a circuit breaker or blown a fuse. Check and reset the breaker (or replace the fuse) if necessary. Lid SwitchIf this has stopped working for some reason, your washing machine won't start. It's not especially difficult to troubleshoot this on a washing machine. You might have to open the top to access the switch. With the power on, depress the switch and listen for a click. If you don't hear one, the switch MAY BE BAD and will need to be replaced. Confirm defectiveness with a multi meter checking for continuity OHMS. An open circuit reflects a bad switch. If the switch works but the washing machine still won't start, check to see if your washing machine has a special fuse for the lid switch. It will usually be inside the control panel. If it's blown, you'll need to replace it before the washing machine will start. Door InterlockIf the lights come on but the machine won't start, this might well be the cause. This could either be down to the wiring that runs to the door interlock, or the door catch not activating the interlock itself. Timer KnobIf the knob doesn't line up properly with the graphics on the control panel, you can try to troubleshoot the washing machine problem by advancing the timer a little. When you've done this, pull it out a little way and see if the washing machine will start properly. Push start switch may need to be tested with a multi meter for continuity OHMS should show a closed circuit when pushed in or turned on. The start switch on some top load washers is often part of the timer and is activated by pulling out on the timer knob. Although not normally available as a separate part, the switch can be tested for continuity with a multi-meter. You will need to remove power from the appliance and then locate the correct timer contacts as noted on the wiring diagram. On some electronic controlled models, the start switch is a momentary contact type switch located on the control console. You can test this switch for continuity with a multi-meter when the push button is held in OverheatingThe simple way to discover whether this is the problem is to give the machine ample time to cool down, say for a couple of hours, and then try it again. If it works fine, overheating has been the problem and you may have a motor with bad windings. By the way my advice is free cuz God is good. All washing machines use a motor that is responsible for spinning and agitating during the cleaning cycle. Many top load brands use a reversing motor which means the motor spins in one direction for agitating and another for spinning and draining. If the motor does not start, but makes a humming or buzzing noise then it may be defective. On direct drive models, you will have to disengage the pump and the direct drive coupling to the transmission. If the motor starts, then the problem is with the transmission or the pump and can be further diagnosed by reconnecting each one individually. If the motor does not start or continues to hum or buzz, then it will need to be replaced Lastly CONTROL BOARD If the control board does not provide the proper voltage to the drive motor, fill valve, drain motor or door lock then the washer may not start. The main control board on most washers is complicated and difficult to diagnose without proper test equipment and procedures. You can visually inspect the control for signs of electrical arcing or burned or damaged components on the board. You should use caution when replacing a control board as sometimes the burned components are caused by external component failures. Washing Machine Repair Help After some time it goes to pause. Doesn't start At first in diagnostics it didn't fill with water, but I fixed that. Now it runs through the tests fine. Answer questions, earn points and help others. Julie K Gastler 5.0 out of 5 stars The only reason we are replacing it is because in the last ten years we've had kids and need to carry more than two bikes now, but we still continue to use it. We purchased this one from Wal-Mart and picked it because it was the cheapest they had (poor college students at the time.) Its been on long trips, short trips, we moved, and I've put too many bikes on it. I completely and totally recommend this bike rack. Durability: For the first 6 years the bike rack lived pretty permanently on the back of one of our cars. We have not had to replace the straps that connect it to the car despite leaving it in rain, snow, hot weather, direct sunlight. While the plastic pieces on the rack are still there and usable, they lost their straps because my husband doesn't know his own strength and ripped them off, one tat a time over a couple of years, while trying to tighten them on the bikes. The last one was ripped off about 5 years ago. The good news is that the bungee cords that have replaced those straps haven't needed replacing yet either and there are some convenient places to hook the ends. We've also broken the reflectors that are on the end of the bars holding the bikes because we sometimes just throw it, literally, into the garage in a hurry. The reflectors themselves are still there, but the plastic surrounding them has been knocked off. Fitting on Cars: We have a 2003 Chrysler PT cruiser and 2006 Mazda 3i with a tiny spoiler. There are two choices for a top bar, one that is longer and one that is shorter.
