This at times prevents the unit from starting again unless you manually start it by adjusting the humidity level much higher. I have very large rooms and a large house so I rarely have this problem. I still reccomend this humidifier. Please try again later. Please try again later. Ruben Giral 2.0 out of 5 stars We had to replace the filters after a year, but no biggie, right. Mark R 3.0 out of 5 stars The permawick filters are not paper and can be cleaned. Beware though, the maintenance on this this thing is extensive. To thoroughly clean it, you will be taking the whole thing apart. There are instructions but if you're not good at this kind of thing, you won't like this unit. Other than that, it works well. Some gripes are that water tank doesn't sit in the sink very well when filling it, so you'll have to stand there and balance it. It does not retain it's settings when you turn it off so you'll have to reset everything every time you turn it on. I just got done carefully disassembling and cleaning mine and it is displaying 85 humidity so it will not run (80 is its highest setting). I can guarantee the room is nowhere near that humid so I hope nothing is broken. A simple low, medium and high setting would really have simplified things. Please try again later. The unit drains into a floor drain. It seems dry in my basement yet the fan seems to run. It does so, in an effort to keep recycling the air. To further assist you, in case you have misplaced your Owner's Manual. I have included a link to it, that you can download and print for future reference.
