To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. See All Buying Options Add to Wish List Disabling it will result in some disabled or missing features. You can still see all customer reviews for the product. As with anything over time my many years old thermostat started wearing out, and like another review I read, I began having problems with the up button being very difficult to use. The actual thermostat continued to work perfectly, as did all the other features and buttons on it. Since I've had 2 hand surgeries the up button, although it would still change the temperature after much pushing, poking, and cursing lol, I decided to replace it. I went to our local hardware store, and was unable to locate this exact brand and model, so I bought a different one that in our old house with only 4 wires on the heat and air just would not work correctly, so I ended up returning it. Luckily, I found a great company who had my same brand and model, new in stock here on Amazon. The best part was the price was less than half the price of what I paid for one at the hardware store, and I got free shipping too. At that price, I decided to actually order 2 of them so I'll have a spare to use when the 1st new one decides to croak from old age. Please try again later. Joshua Top Contributor: Raspberry Pi 4.0 out of 5 stars It doesn't support all units (I think specifically it didn't support a heat pump?) Anyway, it's a simple design and it shows in a lot of ways, but this is pretty cheap these days (I guess because it's mostly just old stock being sold off at this point) so it's a great way to go to a digital control. The programming is pretty confusing and a bit of a pain to setup, but it works. For some odd reason if you want to switch between arbitrary Fahrenheit and standard Celsius, it has to completely reset the unit. Unfortunately, it lacks a fine grained control for Celsius (at least I feel like it should have half steps since it seems to have been balanced wrong in my house -- maybe an adjustment of the interval might help, but I didn't feel like dealing with it) so I don't really recommend getting this one with that in mind as others likely do it better. Anyway, it's simple and cheap, but it gets the job done fairly well and beats those crappy basic analog thermostats. Please try again later. Please try again later. Loma Rica 5.0 out of 5 stars Our stove, like the majority of pellet stoves, can be operated by using a simple wall thermostat to turn the stove on and off, much like a conventional furnace.http://schlammatlas.de/en/node/16408 Over the years, it has always been our practice to manually turn down the thermostat each night before retiring and turning it back up the next morning. This generally works just fine except for those evenings when we forget. Additonally, on those extra cold mornings, once the stove was turned on, it would take quite some time to get the temperature up to a comfortable level. Neither of these situations is earth shattering, but as I get older, I must admit I continually try to make my life just a little bit easier. This battery controlled thermostat has done just that. I replaced an old Honeywell manual thermostat with this item, programmed it without a problem, and it has worked flawlessly for the last month. It turns our pellet stove off 30 minutes prior to retiring and turns it back on 30 minutes before we get up. It can also be programmed for up to 4 weekday settings, to accomodate your work schedule, and seperate settings for the weekend should this be a priority. It is definetly not fancy but it is inexpensive and easy to operate and we are very pleased overall. Please try again later. Please try again later. However, the up button got so it was very hard to set the temperature higher. So hubby just changed it out for this model. You cannot retro fit this one over the older model, because this one is about one inch smaller on all sides. Also, despite the mention of being lighted it is NOT. I wanted the lighted version and very disappointed they didn't make that clear. Please try again later. Please try again later. Allan Freetage 5.0 out of 5 stars Looked around at all of the different brands out there with all of the bells and whistles that you will never use and decided to buy this one. Very easy to install (detailed instructions on how to install it) and was very easy to program and it looks great. No issues with the design like other users have had but come on it's a thermostat how often do you mess with it once you have it programed. I highly recommend this item. Please try again later. Another series of Hunter thermostats are seven-day programmable models, which allow you to set each day of the week differently. These seven-day models include the 44377, 44378, 44550 and 44668. You probably can see the pattern: Those models that begin with 441- are 5-2 models, while those that begin with 443-, 445- or 446- are seven-day models. Fortunately, programming all Hunter thermostats follows the same procedure. The only real difference is that the seven-day models will require you to set individual programs for seven different days, while on the 5-2 models, you'll only need to set two programs. These models include the 44905, 44272, 44860 and 44377. But maximum savings are reached if you adjust your idea of what constitutes an acceptable temperature. At night or when you are away from home, allow the temp to go even lower to provide further savings. The hour display should be flashing on the screen. Pay attention to the AM-PM display to make sure you're setting the correct time. This locks in the hour and activates the flashing minute display. Now the temperature setting should be flashing. Repeat these steps for all the remaining programs available on the thermostat.damabilisim.com/images_upload/files/8051-microcontroller-programs-lab-manual-with-flowchart.pdf On a 5-2 thermostat, there will be a total of eight settings: Wake, Away, Return and Sleep for the Monday through Friday workdays, and another four settings for the two-day weekend. On a seven-day model, there will be a total of 28 individual settings, four for each day of the week. It's worth reviewing the programs that are already set to see if they work for your situation. Arrow up or down to change the time. The thermostat will now hold the temperature at the setting until the override is cancelled. You will see the current program number flashing on the screen to indicate it is being temporarily overridden. The thermostat will now return to following its established programming. Here is a basic overview of how one representative model, the 44860, is programmed: For each program, you will set new times and temperatures. WillyRego 4.0 out of 5 stars This was probably pretty hot tech back in 1992, but it's pretty lame now. Where is my wifi enabled thermostat that I can adjust from my wii, iphone, etc while at home or away. Why am I pecking at a stupid little screen picking blocks of hours for each day of the week when I should be downloading and modifying weeklong profiles displayed as nice curvy line graphs. The wireless might also be usefull in taking temperatures in multiple or alternate places and reporting them back to the unit. Eh, it's actually pretty good if not the best when compared to the rest of the options, but probably too expensive for the old technology involved. This Hunter thermostat was the best I found. It was only a little more expensive than comparable touch screen thermostats I found in local stores, and none of those had automatic switchover. My only complaint: the instructions were vague about setting heating and cooling points. They covered heating and they covered cooling, but the interaction was.My favorite feature is the ability to use external 24 VAC for power with the batteries only used if the external power fails. Cool! I had 24 VAC from the zone system, so I am in heaven. The only problem i ever encountered was when installing I had an extra wire on my side that did not match up with their diagram. I called and it took about 30 seconds for them to tell me where to connect. It functions flawlessly with a heat pump system and I have never had problems with it turning on the emergency heat. I have no complaints about the battery life. I cut all power to the HVAC system for a month while i was out of town. The during that month the unit was powered by just the battery. It was still on when i returned. The 7 day 4 periods a day may be a little tedious to program but it is great to have that much control. The override options are great for the weekends when you are not really home and away on a normal schedule. With a few touches you can override the temperature for while you are gone and cancel the override when you return. The only compliant I have is sometimes it can be hard to tell where to touch on the screen. For the menu you hit sort of over to the left and for the time you hit towards the top. It is easy to be slightly off and get to the wrong menu but that is really minor. It seems to be well made and it has a lot of great features for what it cost. On the other hand, This is not a user friendly product. You will have to do some research to get it right. For example, I have a five wire config with a common wire for power to the thermostat.I love how large the display is-since it is in my living room, I can generally just look across the room to see what temperature it is, presuming there is no glare. The blue and red back light, depending upon if the heat or ac is on, is really impressive-looking (although it doesn't stay lit constantly, and there appears to be no way to make it do so-although I personally would not want it to stay lit constantly as it is fairly bright), and the touch screen works great. It does practically anything you could want a thermostat to do, with the ability to program 4 different temperatures throughout different time periods in the day, for both heating and cooling. One feature that I appreciate, but was not expecting is how it keeps track of how many hours the system has been running for the day, the previous day, the current month, and the previous month-I suppose that isn't the most important of features, but it is interesting to be able to see it. The only downside to this thermostat is that there is definitely a bit of a learning curve. The instructions explain almost everything, but they somehow manage to leave out some details of the basic navigation through the system, so at first you can be left not knowing what to do whenever you accidentally press something you didn't mean to press, in fear that pressing anything else might totally mess up everything that you have set so far-but, once you play around with it for a little while it all becomes clear and it actually becomes pretty easy to use. The installation was a breeze: just remove your previous thermostat, using the provided stickers to label all the wires before you disconnect them, and then install this thermostat with the labels on the wire to guide you. It does take 3 AA batteries to work, so make sure you pick those up, because they are not included (also, I am kind of thinking the reviews saying it started going crazy after a year probably need to change their batteries-it would be pretty easy to forget they are even in there since there is no obvious battery compartment). Overall, it's a great-working thermostat that looks really good (which is important in my case since it is in a pretty prominent location in my living room) that has an almost overwhelming array of features, and I am enjoying it immensely.
