It'll look fine.It should just clip in as far as I could tell but it just did not feel secure. I double checked all my wires (nothing in the way) and rechecked the mounting (nothing sticking out). The problem was that with the thermostat base firmly attached to the wall (to keep it level), the unit just not have enough clearance behind it for the control box to clip in place. I needed to shim the base plate out from the wall to give it enough clearance. Unfortunately when you do that the unit does not fit flush to the wall. I'm thinking about cutting a thin piece of lexan to go behind it to act as a stand-off or a may return the unit and try another one. Not sure. Otherwise the installation was straightforward and the init works as it should. I was a bit concerned because I have a split system with a gas fired boiler and a seperate AC unit but it worked. Since there are no screws to hold the control box in place, I am concerned if someone walking down the hall bumps into it.Looks like it may have a problem staying on the wall. If your in a household that has someone that loves to play with the settings, and I’m not talking about the children. You mount the unit backplate on the wall the the thermostat attaches to that with electrical pins. A few clicks and it’s detactedI noted that it can be programed while you are sitting with the unit in your lap.VERY NICE FEATURE. I definitely did not want a expensive wifi operated thermostat requiring another app to operate.For a value of 2 in heating mode, the heat will stay on until it gets 2 degrees above the set temperature. This allows for the heat to not turn on so frequently. I programmed this thermostat exactly as I had programmed the original and the first problem that I had was that the new unit would intermittently jump away from the program. It was programmed to keep the heat temp set at 66F during the overnight hours and three times in two weeks we woke up to temps of 55F and 58F??? That alone was enough for me, but that wasn't the end of it. Obviously, I was happy with the service of the first Hunter unit, but for some reason, the new unit did not meet the high operating standards that I had enjoyed for the last ten years.This has those things along with a mind of its own. I saw other people say this and thought, surely they didn’t use the hold feature per the instructions. I was wrong to doubt those faithful other amazonners. Went to bed with it set at 72 and in the middle of the night it jumped to 78 degrees. Still displaying hold. It did not cross a program time threshold either. I now just set every program to the one temp I need and let it run the program which seems to work. It’s annoying to do every time since we remove the battteries when the rv is stored but it serves the purpose and it programs quickly. The EL backlight makes a high pitch noise that emits when lit. I suspect it may drive a dog crazy but we don’t travel with ours. It’s not a big deal since it makes the noise only when lit. I’m summary, I don’t trust the hold feature, it seems to work to the program, has a nice backlight and keeps the rv so much more comfortable than the original thermostat at a very reasonable price. Only two stars because.If this was in my house I would rip it out and return it. I’ll live with it in my rv.We only use it for heating so install was super simple if you pay attention to your wiring. Comes with little stickers to mark your wires which would be easier to use if they were longer. Our stickers fell off before I even had the back plate installed. Can't imagine it would be difficult to install for use with central air if you have the basic knowledge of your system.I bought them for the Parrish Hall for the Church. There were 8 zones so I needed 8 units. The reason for the 4 stars is as follows. 1. There is a sticker that covers the LCD screen that is really tough to remove. You really need to pull hard to get it off. I wonder if this is the reason one LCD display was not working. 2. Included in the package are stickers that you can mark the wires going to the thermostat. The stickers had really poor adhesive on them and would not stick together at all. I had to use scotch tape to hold the stickers on. The stickers would not be a problem for a 2 wire connection but 3 of the thermostats have 5 wire connections. 3. Batteries not included. 4. There is only 2 mounting screws in the package. There should be a minimum of 3. Overall the units are doing what I need them to do.So when that finally needed to be replaced, I bought this 'upgraded' model. The only positive thing about it is that it fit on the old mounting plate. The first one did not work correctly, Amazon sent a replacement. The replacement had problems too, Amazon sent Another replacement. The 3rd one worked more or less ok. Also, the Hold function does not always stay where you put it.So if you want to go on vacation and keep your temp down.well, it ain't gonna work. And if you do use Hold, Remember.you will probably need to go back and reprogram your other set days.
