Important: Set the dip switches before installing the module. ATTENTION: Disconnect power before attempting to install, remove, or wire the module. Make sure your SLC power supply has adequate reserve current capacity. Removing the Terminal Block The removable terminal wiring block eliminates the need to rewire a module if it is removed from the rack. See page OUT 3 OUT 2 14 for output wiring. Differential encoders provide the best immunity to electrical noise. We recommend, whenever possible, to use differential encoders. Single-Ended Encoder Output Waveforms The figure below shows the single-ended encoder output waveforms. When the waveform is low, the encoder output transistor is OFF. Counting for high speed inputs from quadrature encoders and various high-speed switches for the 1746-HSCE is bidirectional. By accepting pulse frequencies of up to 50k Hz through a single channel, this module allows for precise control of high-speed motion. The 1746-HSCE has an accumulated count and provides Rate Measurement in Hz. It determines rate measurement using a fixed period of time. This Rate Period ranges from 10 milliseconds to 2.55 seconds and is dynamic. There are 4 open collector outputs for additional control outside the SLC processor. The maximum input frequency is 50 kHz. The 1746-HSCE requires power in the form of 5V DC and 24V DC which it gets from the backplane of the SLC controller, drawing 320mA of 5V current and 0mA of 24V current. Never change or disconnect components without turning the power supply off. Counter Mod. 1 count input AB 1746-H 1746-HS 1746-HSC The quantity you tried to add to your cart is unavailable. It has bidirectional counting for high speed inputs from quadrature encoders and various high-speed switches. Additionally, it has two differential quadrature inputs and four single-ended inputs, allowing for precise control of high speed motion. The inputs can be wired for differential or single-ended use. The unit also has eight outputs, four real and four virtual. The outputs can be controlled by any of the counters or directly by software. You can configure up to 16 dynamic ranges using rates or counts to control outputs. The quantity you tried to add to your cart is unavailable. Please click here to register! PLC Simulator- FREE.I really appreciate if someone can help me. Regards, BenyaminThey are just there when you install certain modules. What are you trying to do with the module. I have used them for years for flow meter inputs. You have to send the module programming in up to 8 different blocks depending on the mode, presets etc.I am trying to learn how to write a plc program. Let say: Position 1, Turn Suction hood down Position 2, Turn Vacuum valve On Position 3, Turn Suction hood Up Position 4, Turn Vacuum valve Off and so on. I am really blind in HSCE configuration and programming, so please give me information in detail. Thank you in advance. Best regards, BenyaminActually I have read the link you gave to me before I came to this forum. It doesn't answer my question. I want to figure out how to configure the module, included every single item in the module configuration section. Besides, I want to know how to write the program on RsLogix 500, included designation of each bit of M0 and M1. Thank you in advance. Best regards, BenyaminThis is all you need. But I would prefer to obtain somebody's experience to answer my questions, beside reading 1746 HSCE Instruction Manual which I already read previously. Thank you in advance. Best regards, Benyamin. Page 11 High-Speed Counter Module 11 Remove the Terminal Block The removable terminal wiring block eliminates the need to rewire a module if it is removed from the chassis. ATTENTION Disconnect power before attempting to install, remove, or wire the removable terminal wiring block. To avoid cracking the removable terminal block, alternate the removal of the slotted terminal block release screws. Disconnect power to the SLC processor and the module before wiring. Make sure the SLC 500 system is properly grounded. Shielded cable is required for high-speed input signals A, B, and Z. Page 13 High-Speed Counter Module 13 Input and Output Connections Input and output wiring terminals are located on the front of the module, behind the terminal cover. When you connect input and output devices, you must also be concerned with the settings of dip switch SW1 (input connections), dip switch SW2 (output connections), and jumper JW1 (limit switch input connections). They can be controlled by the module when certain counter conditions are met, or they can be controlled from the user program (refer to the High-Speed Counter Module User Manual, publication 1746-6.5 for M0:e.0 information). The outputs are bipolar transistors connected in a sinking (open collector sinking) configuration.www.cndasion.com/d/files/brett-aqualine-owners-manual.pdf When the output is energized, it sinks the current. Do not use incandescent lamps as output indicators. Information relates only to products sold on or after the date of this certificate. The Manufacturers. How to configure the 1746-HSCE2 for above requirement. Any idea? Thanks. JamesParameters are packs of 8 words. Words 1-7 are data. The actual work is figuring out what numbers to use for parameter block setup. Depending on how many counters are to be setup and what is used (ranges etc.) one will have more or less to configure. As you can see two words are wasted since they use only 8 out of 10 words per parameter set block. Order of paramters doesn't really matter as long as you wait with enabling of counters until end (this should be last block of data). Smart thing to do is plan and organize.cnccat.com/products_img/files/brett-aqualine-manual.pdf For example make first parameter block disable counters, then do all other blocks and in the end enable counters again. This way you don't have to reset or reboot plc to load new parameter set. Put value 60 (60 decimal or 3C hex) into N19:1 and you are almost done. First counter uses full range. Second one is using only 4096 pulses (0.4095) because it's single turn (you didn't mention any gearbox).Any idea? Thanks. JamesAny number need to be change to accomodate 2000 PPR. I have cycle PLC power after download the ladder. I hope this information will help. Any idea to solve this problem? Thank you. JamesI change counter parameter preset value It works with no parameter fault. I try to turn encoder and the reading is 2000 pulse and back to zero. For length measurement, the pulse reading should be accumulate and need to reset manually. How to solve this problem. Thanks again for help. JamesI had to install one of these things at a customer site yesterday, and the help here was much clearer than that horrible manual. Thanks !Switched to a MicroLogix 1400 using the first couple of inputs and it has been much more reliable and easier to configure. That is if there is a choice of platforms. It's easy! Sign in here.
