Has anyone managed to do this. Thanks in advance, Rob.Thanks in advnace, Rob.Your instructions were as I thought and make perfect sense. However in my case it almost seems as if the control shaft itself needs to be turned a few degrees anti-clockwise. Even if I set the cover at the bottom of the scale, when I turn the dial the heating does not come on until it reaches 27-30 degrees. The room temerature is reading as 20 degrees. So despite the adjustment it is around 7 degrees out! Rob.Should I take the unit back. Rob.These are much better IMO.All working well now - thanks for your help and advice. Rob. Anybody able to shed a little light for me. Many thanks for your time.Use the multimeter, with one probe kept on the blue neutral cable, to check that the Live remains 230V regardless of the thermostat setting and that the wire on terminal 3 only goes Live when the thermostat is calling for heat. Then you have identified the 3 wires that the new thermostat will need.http://mzd.cieszyn.pl/userfiles/how-often-to-manual-defrost-freezer.xml

I bought a Horstmann HRT2. The old wiring was twin and earth style with the earth cut off (not used) and just the live and neutral cables being wired in. The instructions for the new thermostat indicates that 3 wires are needed: L - Common supply, Load - Call for Heat, N - Neutral. Can I use the existing wiring and just omit one of the connections. If so, which one ? Cheers. Connect up the live to the common suppy and the call to call. Can't understand how the previous owners stood it. I had to get the above mentioned wiring diagrams to intercept the circuit at the right point, ie the radiator circuit control only. A job only for those with an understanding of electrics. You'll always find one when you get there.'' 0 If you dont have the manual you can download it from Baxi's website. On the control circuit board of the boiler will be a short wire linking two of the terminals together. This link is removed and the live and feed wires from the stat are wired in. The neutral from the stat is wired to the neutral on the control board. If you have only just had this boiler installed then tell the installer that under current building regs it is a legal requirement that a room stat (or programmable room stat) be fitted. Then tell him to come and fit it. If he will not do this, threaten to report him to CORGI (he must be a member), that should get his attention. I am a registered installer. Please take the time to familiarise yourself with the latest version. However, do remember that Board Guides don't read every post. It is not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. Give blood, save a life. 0 If it was after April 2005 then the installer would have been obliged under Building Regulation Part L basic practice HC5 to fit a minimum control of room thermostat and timer in conjunction with TRVs on all rads except the one closest to the room thermostat. On most combis there is a marked terminal block for room thermostat wiring. However, it involves new wiring so would be notifiable to building control under Part P, if you did it yourself you would need to have the work inspected to comply. I'd prefer not to break it as a replacement is some 90 quid, not to mention the loss of any hot water for the days it takes to turn up.There must be something snagging. It's never been removed before. If I could see how the two parts go together, I might work out where it's snagging. I couldn't find a suitable diagram or picture of the parts though. Can you advise? Thanks! Taken a few off before, not broken one yet! Anyway, tried to fix the screen but still no good - will need to search for replacement:0) Gave up after failing last time but it's more urgent now because the timer needs resetting almost daily now. Will have another go when the need for heating diminishes in a month or so. Wife wouldn't be happy if I broke it at the moment. I can see how and have previously removed the screws but is stuck fast. I'd have a look on ebay for used timers before using too much force - the backplate should be standard to all Horstmanns, maybe other manufacturers as well, so a single channel backplate should be ok as a replacement for example. I'd have a look on ebay for used timers before using too much force - the backplate should be standard to all Horstmanns, maybe other manufacturers as well, so a single channel backplate should be ok as a replacement for example. You're spot-on with trying to mitigate any breakages during removal. There's nothing visible stopping its removal. I've tried levering it away to no avail. If I pull hard, the box it's attached to in the wall starts to move too, and that's only fixed within a partition wall so it may not be as firmly implanted as need for the amount of force required.https://danceofcyprus.com/images/bosch-skt5102-user-manual.pdf I'll have another look. Thanks. Honeywell used to do programmers up to 4 or 5 zones, I think - now they seem to go with wireless room stats as you suggest. I know I have a (broken!) 4 channel Honeywell programmer sitting in the garage somewhere. Handy for some circumstances, but as you say, room stats are really the way forward these days for lack of complexity and wiring. Or if each thermostat demands heat and the timer is on for each zone, both valves just open and they get served with hot water equally. I'm sure it's not that complex but I like to know how things work in my head before I spend the cash. Or repair the existing timer. It's only likely to require a soldered-in battery of some sort, I'd have thought. Anyway, I'll have another look this weekend. Thanks again. I suspect this is integral to the main unit - I only mention it because it is a separate moulding A single wall box, of the drywall or plasterboard variety Pic: By pulling outward and generally downward I can clearly see the single wall box because I am dragging that towards me too. It is not separating from the main unit or the stand-off. I can get a screwdriver between the wall box and the stand-off but there's no way they are going to separate without my breaking one of them. I am wondering if the stand-off comes away from the main unit. I can pull the main unit away from the stand-off enough to get a screwdriver into the gap but it's not coming away consistently - only where I exert pressure so much that the plastic deforms. The clock is now not running at all. It allows me to set it for current time but it doesn't move on any more. I think I should order a new unit, see how it's supposed to work, then break the old one off the wall. I suppose it wouldn't tale much for a bit of plaster to run in there and stick it. The programmer is one piece - there's no stand-off. If you are poking around with a screwdriver, make sure the system is isolated - there are live terminals near the top edge.http://www.goataxiservice.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1626fc470a2c5b---bose-lifestyle-50-system-manual.pdf I can't convey the amount of force I've used so far - the plasterboard and the joist are both moving. I'll order a new one and break this one off. The reluctance of the old unit to come off the backplate just doesn't make sense. Please keep us posted! I'd be interested to know the outcome, too.No - there's definitely no elegant way in. I'll get the new one working then see if I can make an entry-point somehow with the old one.Dogwatch said: The reluctance of the old unit to come off the backplate just doesn't make sense. Sheepshanks said: You can see why I said be careful where you're sticking the screwdriver! Yes, LOL. I have replaced a timer in my old house but it didn't have one of these removable backs. Regardless, I've had my mains-shock already this month (replaced some light fittings in the hall and landing, and new light switches in the garage), so I'm back to being careful again. The power will be off when I rip this mofo off. Sheepshanks said: I'd be interested to know the outcome, too. The amount of effort I've put into it is just shy of breaking the plastic itself - I can hardly imagine how the builders installed it. Curious, eh? I'll report back. The heating controller was held in place by nothing more than the electrical blade connectors. But it need that leverage - very surprising. Fitted new one and was slightly irked that the LCD screen on the new one is damaged - faded in places making it hard to read. However the supplier has already accepted the fault and will swap it for me. So there you go. It's given me some confidence to look at the Heatmiser wifi-connected thermostats next. Thanks all. I only have one wire going in and the wiring instructions are here Live to 1 Neutral to4 but what's going on with the 3 terminal. Any ideas?anxuetang.com/upload/files/canon-imagerunner-2025i-user-manual.pdf If you have a motorised valve for the CH, the switched live from terminal 3 operates the valve. When the valve is fully open, a switch inside the valve sends a live to the boiler. It's a bit confusing. Do you have two motorised valves, one for CH and one for hot water? Careful with this! Make sure everything is isolated before starting work, and make sure you have identified the pairs correctly. The other pair is the switched output to your CH pump and boiler. You should connect both Neutrals (blue) to terminal 4, and the supply Live to terminal 1, and the switched Live to terminal 3. If you have only one wire pair coming into the hole in the wall, then this will be live only: the brown wire will be the supply Live and the blue wire (which should have a red or brown sleeve on it) will be the switched Live. In that case you have no Neutral and cannot use that thermostat - possibly the old thermostat was a passive one that didn't need its own power supply. In that case you'll need to seek advice from the supplier. In that case you'll need to seek advice from the supplier. The thing is basically just a thermostatically controlled progammable switch. In the bad old days, it was quite common for electricians to use the earth conductor of a twin and earth cable to provide the third electrical conductor if the thermostat needed (1) a live, (2) a switched live and (3) a neutral. The proper way is to use a three core and earth cable under those circumstances. I'm goin' out kickin' and screamin' obscenities at people who aren't there! Press set, set defaults, time and date then adjust. One of my few remaining appliances that has a clock but no Internet connection is the timer on my boiler. It’s a new boiler (I moved in June), so I’ve never had to set the clock on it before. This is the timer on my boiler: My boiler is in a utility cupboard next to my front door. When I turn on the hot water boost, I put the post-it note on the cupboard door, so I don’t leave it on when I go out. The name on the bottom right says “Horstmann Electronic 7”, so I did the obvious thing and googled “set clock horstmann electronic 7 boiler”. Unless you have this exact appliance, you can stop reading. This is a diagram showing the front of the timer: To set the clock: Press the green “SET” button until the left-hand indicator points to “CLOCK”. The hour should start to flash. Press the blue “SELECT” button to confirm the hour. The minute should now start to flash. It wraps from 60 to 0 and vice versa. Press the blue “SELECT” button a second time to confirm the minute, and to finish. Prose is CC-BY licensed, code is MIT. About the site. If you like my writing, perhaps say thanks.
