The only problem I've had, has to do with the construction of the reel foot. It is thicker than most reels. I built a rod for my brother with a small ice fishing reel seat and when it was all done, I found the foot issue. The reel would not fit without filing it down. Instead I chose to take the rod apart and change to a standard small spinning reel seat (picture). The point is, if you have a rod with the small Fugi ice reel seat, the Eagle Claw may not fit without tweeking. If you tape on, it will not be an issue. Maybe I just got a freak but it made me quite irate. 2nd pic shows the E C in a Fugi ice reel seat. 3rd pic in a small spinning seat. I was on a perch bite last week and imperative to get back down in the water as fast as possible to keep the school around. When the school came through I was able to maximize my catch rates. I love these set ups for pannies. I have both as well, and like the Eagle Claw better. Mostly because of the double handle. It makes it more balanced.with the Frabill, there are times were I stop reeling with the handle in about the 11 o'clock position and if I take my hand off, the handle will rotate on it's own down to 6 o'clock just from the weight.
