I appreciatte all your or any of your input.Have not called yet but I intend to.The only problem I'd see with it is the stereo input (if memory serves me correctly) does not have any gain adjustments, so if you need to turn the PC off in a hurry, you have to do so from the speakers. The Gina's a stereo input card with either 2, 4, or 6 outputs. It's been a while since I've seen one of those.Pan odd left and even right. This setup also allows you to mix the output of the Gina with external effects and synths if you need to. Just make sure to not loopthrough monitor in Sonar, or you'll feed back something fierce. I blew a speaker this way once. As for getting the manual, it's worth it. It's a pretty good manual. And no, fostex don't have downloads for these manuals, it's all for-sale.Thanks for all your help. Not only is it now working perfectly but it fixed a problem I was having with the Input LED's to Sonar being uneven, which I use to compensate for by setting the Pan on channel to the 10 O'Clock position on the Mixer Input Channel. This whole mixer set up thing confuses the hell out of me.:) You'll get it, it's pretty similiar from mixer to mixer once you get the basic concepts. And the switches I'm referring to are for AUX 2, which will serve as the monitor mix in this setup. The quarter inchers don't have a selector switch, rather when you plug something into them they automatically kill the XLR input, again if memory serves me correctly. Unfortunately I no longer have the mixer nor the manual for it, but Fostex should be able to help out, or maybe someone on ebay selling one might scan the thing for you. And keep in mind, there are a dozen or so different and valid ways to set this up. I just liked this the best in terms of flexibility.While I disagree with the way they have users set the input gain for microphones, their manuals are really good tutorials for mixers in general. They do a good job of explaining how the ins and outs of a mixer can be used, as well as how to interface them with different outboard gear.That's what I get for using ancient equipment. My next question has to do with the Gina Console, not the Fostex. When adding and recording a new track to a song, how do I set my levels so I can hear my playing while recording on an equal level to the tracks being played. Sorry I don't know all the lingo !:) I hope you can understand what I am asking. It makes sense to me that the Echo Gina Console would let you turn down the playback level in order to give you a perfect mix while recording. Once again THANKS !I'm not familiar with the Gina console, but in general, using the fostex, I never adjusted levels in the soundcard's control panel. I did that with the fostex. To give youself more or less playback from the PC, you can either adjust the master fader in Sonar, or tweak the AUX 2 controls on channels 7 and 8. They won't affect the level you send to the Gina. As for monitoring the level to the Gina, you have a couple options.Will adjusting the fader in Sonar decrease my recordings in any way, shape or form as far as quality or bit rate is concerned ?It doesn't mess with what you have tracked, it only allows you to obtain the correct balance between different tracks, or in this case incoming (new) tracks and existing material. The faders in the PC that can mess with quality are those on the inputs of the Gina, as they directly affect inbound gain. rock! Correct ? Just nod your head YES or NO. But I do have it set up with my Event Gina Card and it's working. My 450 Mixer was not taken care of and was left unattended in someone's garage, so the pots are a little dirty, so I gave it a once over with a damp cloth and some Q-Tips and it sounds a lot better.
