August 13, 2017 Verified purchase I've had the V3250 Foodsaver for about a month. I bought it to replace one I recently lost in a house fire. The V3250 came with an accessory hose and several starter bags as well as several feet of a vacuum seal roll to make my own bags. I considered getting an automatic model of Foodsaver. With the automatic model you can just put the end of the bag in and it's automatically detected and sealed. This manual model has a latch bar across the front and you push the latch bar up to open the area to seal the bag and then push the latch bar down so you can push the vacuum or seal button. I prefer the manual model. That adds up because I use my Foodsaver all the time. I keep the Foodsaver on the counter so it's always accessible. I like that it stands upright, unlike the last model I had. I've used it to seal bags and containers. I LOVE IT! It works perfectly and I am really happy with the vacuum sealer and with every bag and container I've purchased. As a single woman, I can cook decent quantities and freeze for later. When I get home from work I know there's something good for supper heated quickly. I also used the Foodsaver to vacuum pack my sterling silver flatware after I cleaned it. I had the unit unplugged and used my thumbs to forcefully pull down the door (didn't use the handle). Once I discovered I could force it down with my thumbs, I plugged it back in while holding the door down and it seemed to reset itself and now works perfectly! There is foam replacments available through ebay and amazon.To test that you can moister the foams seals with a paper towels. If that worked, think about replacing the seals. To deal with the sealing wire, you usually have to pull off a teflon tape to see it. I do believe that you can have a replacement for the wire. I personally never had to replace one. Try to freeze your food for 30 minutes to an hour before sealing. You can also try a different power outlet. If none of these work, try to clean the seal profile.
