I read the instructions to put everything in tupperware containers before storage, and I followed those instructions.the oil gets EVERYWHERE and ruins things, even inside the tupperware containers. (Side note: why the heck would you design a safe that requires internal storage in tupperware in the first place?) I have tried everything to fix this, including additional purchase of moisture-absorbing packets, and leaving the safe door open when I'm home to aerate it. Nothing works. This is a defective item.I was WRONG. The typical humidity where I live is 16 outside, about 30 inside, which is low, but seriously, the cement in this safe is so damp (and never dries out) that you can't store anything made of paper in it unless you put the paper in a damn ziplock inside of ANOTHER ziplock, with the openings facing the opposite direction! I.e., you have to put cash or other paper items in a ziplock, close it, fold it, put it in another ziplock with the first ziplock's opening facing the bottom of the second bag. Ridiculous! If you don't they will absorb moisture, might mildew, and will start to smell. The moisture will also make your signatures bleed a bit. This safe is really only good for storing gold, diamonds, etc, in plastic, maybe either in a plastic bag, box, or tray. You can't even store jewelry in a paper or silk box. You definitely CANNOT store guns, cameras, watches, binoculars, electronics of any type, etc. I bought the safe because it is fireproof due to the wet cement in the walls, but I have a sprinkler system, so I should have just bought a gun safe or thin-walled, big lockbox. I have to air this safe out maybe once a month for a few days, which utterly ruins the point of a safe. I keep a hygrometer in it to check the humidity, and man, it's sometimes as high as 85. Absurd! I've had no problems with the locks (electronic and manual), but seriously, IT'S NOT WORTH THE HASSLE. I'm going to get rid of it and get the biggest lockbox I can find, with actual shelves in it. This thing is small because so much space is taken up with the absurd concrete walls.Twice in that time the electronic keypad has stopped working. The first time it was fine after battery replacement, and i suspect the same is true here. Probably once per two weeks on average. What's worse is: It goes from being all fine, to being inoperative in just a few weeks. So I notice it's out of battery when it's already out, and you have to use the emergency mechanism of getting into it (requires unscrewing screws etc to gain access to the emergency key lock). What's even worse is: Both times this happened (I noticed it was out of battery), it would within several minutes start making somewhat loud annoying noise (like a very rapid beep almost, I think it's the keypad start-up process partially happened repeatedly). So now, you can't e.g. sleep in the same room without first taking care of it. Obviously this could all be because I got a bad item and it's probably not systematic. But it's extremely frustrating and still deserves a review.It has completely ruined everything I've put in it. I have followed all the instructions and it still does not work. I placed paper documents in air tight bags, with absorption gel packs inside, and they have completely molded. Passports, marriage license, birth certificates, all molded. I have a giant 2 pound moisture absorber inside as well.Keypad works, batteries are still fresh, very secure. Bigger than I thought, but that's a good thing. Only use it to put important documents, my passport, and two handguns. Definitely recommend. I don't care to bolt it down because of how heavy it is from the floor. If it were to get stolen, I wouldn't even file a police report because I would have no choice but to congratulate the burglars for their effort. If you haven't guessed by now, the safe is heavy as hell. If you choose not to bolt it down but still want some discreetness, do what I did and buy a black generator cover for it. It'll fit great and almost looks like a small night stand. One thing about safes is that once it's known that you have one, everyone wants to know what's in it so it's best to keep it hidden.I traced the power from the battery compartment to a small printed circuit board inside the door. And I found a pin broken in the female connector on the PC board. There is consequently no power to the front panel. Called First Alert and I was told to get a locksmith. The warranty was only 5 years. This is poor American workmanship using low quality parts. How can a metal pin be broken after only 6 years?Not necessarily that someone could break in easily, but it still felt kinda cheap. However, I was going to buy it because of the price, but when I was ready to buy, it went out of stock. I did another search for safes, and found the First Alert. It had a slightly bigger size, and the price was the same, as well as some other features (waterproof, firesafe). When it arrived, it had a much sturdier feel, higher quality construction. I like that the hinges are on the inside. Only problem, the inner shelf is a bit flimsy, but still very happy with my choice. Conclusion; If you're on the fence about this and the Sentry, go with First Alert. Nach wie vor funktioniert die Elektronik sehr zuverlassig, einmal alle zwei Jahre sollte die Batterie gewechselt werden. Wurde ich wieder kaufen!Andere Hersteller haben auch noch die Wandbefestigung mit drin. Das war fur mich aber nicht so wichtig, da ich den Tresor eher fur den Schutz von wichtigen Unterlagen vor Brand und Wasser angeschafft habe und 40kg muss man ja auch erst mal bewegen. Aber ich glaube auch kaum, dass man das Teil irgendwie vernunftig aufbekommt ohne die PIN oder den Schlussel. Aber wer einen Tresor mit einem guten Preis - Leistung Verhaltnis sucht und mit einer Bodenbefestigung leben kann dann Daumen hoch. A fire in the workplace should be detected quickly and a warning given so that people can escape safely.
