I though maybe the batteries that where included with them just didn't have much life left in them so I purchased new batteries and replaced them. That lasted about 2 weeks. I can't have alarms going off randomly and waking the entire family for no reason.We installed it and added a brand new battery. Within 12 hours it started chirping. We replaced the battery with another brand new one. Again within 12 hours the chirping returned. The smoke alarm is draining the battery. Tried to return it and was told to contact the company. Called first and was on hold for 15 minutes just listening to music. Never spoke to a single person. Next sent an email to customer service. Again never heard back. Will not order any products from this company ever again.Installation is straight forward. Takes all of ten minutes to do, first cut the power to the unit from the breaker box, you just flip the switch to off, remove the old unit, wire the new one, just match the color coded wires, loosen the old plate screws, replace the mounting plate, tighten the screws back up, connect the plug, twist the unit on to the mounting plate, turn the power back on, if it lights up green, you got it right. Pull the strip to activate the battery that was included and you're done. A 9 volt battery's head looks like this oO. This is the end used to connect the battery to the unit. The next time you change the battery, just slide the battery compartment open and pull out the old battery. The connection is fixed inside that compartment, only the battery moves. The head of the battery has to match up (oO to oO) to the two plugs inside, if it will not go in on the first try, turn the battery head facing the same direction from oO to Oo and it should click into place. You can look inside or feel the connectors with your finger to match up the position of the battery. Way simpler then the old style. I'd recommend this to anyone to replace the older style.Took only a couple of minutes for each one, taking down the old detector and replacing the new. Holes were in the right place for the new one to pop right back up where the old came from. The adapter wiring harness was there, didn't need to do any electrical work or turn off power, the connectors went right in and the harness fit in the electrical box. I did have to follow the directions to reset the wired part so that the chirping wouldn't continue, but then it worked just fine. I would highly recommend this.I had to pry up the opening to the channel where the tab slides in. I pried the plastic up with a screw driver to make the opening bigger. Told me to force it in like I had not tried that and wanted me to send the unit back before they sent a new one. CO alarms measure gas exposure over time, so the exact conditions that caused an alarm may be difficult to duplicate during a CO investigation. Different kinds of explosive gas can be detected and it is recommended that any home that utilizes natural or propane gas have at least one explosive gas leak alarm. Push and hold the silence button for 5 seconds to silence the alarm while contamination is being burned off the sensor. You may need to do this a number of times to give the carbon monoxide alarm enough time to reset. Exhaust causes permanent damage and voids the warranty. Many states now require installation of a carbon monoxide alarm inside each bedroom. For added protection, placement of an additional carbon monoxide alarm at least 15-20 feet away from the furnace or fuel burning heat sources is recommended.
