ferroli optimax he31c manualFerroli is a member of the Benchmark initiative and fully supports the aims of the programme. Benchmark has been introduced to improve the standards of installation and commissioning of central heating systems in the UK and to encourage the regular servicing of all central heating systems to ensure safety and efficiency. OPTIMAX HE 31 C is a high-efficiency condensing pre-mix appliance for heating and hot water pro- duction with extremely low emissions, running on natural gas or LPG. Controlled by the room thermostat, the boiler lights and heats the system water to the system delivery setpoint temperature. The burner shuts down when the desired temperature in the room is reached. The installation room must be sufficiently well ventilated to prevent any dangerous condi- tions from forming in the event of even slight gas leakage. For good operation and long life of the boiler, the plumbing system must be well proportioned and always complete with all those accessories that guarantee regular operation and running, room thermostat, trv’s etc. Cold water inlet valve Double check valve Blanking cap Removable connection Blanking plug Isolation valve. If the cable gets damaged, switch off the unit and have it changed only by professionally qualified personnel. If changing the electric power cable, use only “HAR H05 VV-F” 3x0.75 mm cable with a maximum outside diameter of 8 mm. It should be noted that only Ferroli flue system and accessories should be used on this appliance, as per BS 5440 2000 and C.E. test certification. Numerous accessories are available on request to meet the various installation requirements. For complete flue options please contact ferroli or check our comprehensive flue manual. fig. 24. My boiler has been fine for the last 5 years, just recently it has started playing up. When calling for hot water it doesn't always fire up or sometimes it does and may stop. It can then go back to working again for another day and then play up the following day. The central heating seems fine, no fault codes, and water pressure seems good. Any ideas on what it could be or what to do. The last time someone came over from British gas and it happened to be working that day so was a waste of time. Up to last month boiler was entirely controlled using the timer. I have a Ferroli Optimax 25C just now. It's 13 years old or so and has not really had problems - apart from topping up the. And trying to work out how to diagnose the problem and whether it’s actually serious or not can also be tricky. It’s common for homeowners to experience a wealth of fault codes flashing up on their boilers, and often have to try and decipher what’s wrong by checking the internet. Ferroli also don’t have their own dedicated engineers, and instead use local contractors who may not have a high expertise level of dealing with this brand. However, they are only sold as a pack which costs over ?120 at trade price, so it could be an expensive fix! It should be fairly simple to replace the programmer. Spare Ferroli parts tend to be very expensive, and the boilers themselves are unreliable and prone to multiple faults, so even if you fix whatever’s wrong now, you may find the boiler breaking down again in a couple of month’s time. It is a small 2 bed semi with 6 radiators. Has been problem free until a couple of years ago when the flue had to be replaced.http://www.statcardsports.com/node/11768 Since the start of this year it has become erratic, if it was set on a 2 hour cycle it would cut out after say 35mins, sometimes it would restart again about 15mins before the end of the cycle, often it would not restart. Engineer replaced a part recently, think it was to do with pressure, and it appeared to be ok. And it would not run when I tried to manually switch it on. It did the same thing about twice over the last week. Should I give up on it and think about replacement. Thank you. The problem is this. However we’ve recently noticed that after running the hot water for any length of time the boiler goes nuts and the radiators warm up. It also displays an error code E on the LCD display and the numbers go right down to 5 then shoot up to 60 odd. The error code E doesn’t even exist in the manual !! Having read your comments above I’m afraid we may be looking at a new boiler sooner rather than later. I think it’s only 9yrs old and on a recent service the engineer said that everything looked Ok with the exception of traces of where there’s been a leak in the past. Can you help as the plumbers that have been to see the boiler can’t seem to find the problem !!! After the boiler runs for about 15minutes there is a constant drip, drip drip from the condensate line. When the boiler cools down the pressure drops to approx. 0.4 Pressure went down to zero eventually and the boiler would not fire. Pressure vessel inside the boiler had failed but the boiler has to be removed from the wall to get at it. Our plumber installed an external pressure vessel and this has cured the depressurising but now the heating switches off when it feels like it for no apparent reason. Should have got a Worcester Bosch! Is there any other faults that could make this happen.Have supposedly had it fixed and after a month it’s doing it again. Did you find out what the fault was. Thanks. Overide button or constant settings, the boiler has a pilot light but the boiler doesn’t fire up, but the boiler fires up and heats the water when I turn the tap on, any ideas or help would be gratefully appreciated As previously mentioned, provided the boiler is installed correctly to a cleaned system, as with all boilers you should have no problem. I myself have one fitted in my house, its been installed since Feb 2012 and have no problem with it, and the hot water delivery is amazing. Coldest day of the year bloody typical now waiting 48hrs “Emergency ” call out Is it dangerous to run it with this fault? Please help When u turn it on demand it only stays on for 8 seconds and goes off later on it will stay on a lot longer and heats everything up what’s the problem Thank you for your honesty. It’s not just me then!! Water running hot then cold. Engineer says nothing wrong with boiler it’s the water pressure but water board say pressure the Sam as always !! Many Thanks Dont buy one ever ! Richy Tate gas engineer 530063 It is now six years old and in spite of the reputation of these boilers it has only developed one fault in that time, and that was a leaking diverter valve, replaced under warranty. This is a fairly common problem and to be honest it would have been cheaper to replace it myself in view of the time I had to take off work. I have to say the engineer (who was a Ferroli employee, not an agent ) did a very thorough check on the boiler combustion and settings and pretty well serviced it in addition to changing the diverter. However, the heating has come on early. What can I do to stop heating coming on at odd times. I only want it to come on at time I selected. When it has been yearly serviced the plumbers never sort it out. I have a Ferroli Modena 80 E Combi that runs my DHW, Central Heating and my shower. I have always had to keep increasing the pressure by letting in water and this has got so regular now that I now opt to keep the pressure at over Bar 4 so it takes much longer to go below 0.5 bar and cut out. If I turn the central heating off it seems to lose pressure even quicker for some reason so i tend to have the boiler on permanently with radiators turned down to min in the summer rather than risk turning the boiler to DHW only due to the rate at which the pressure drops. Any idea on a quick fix to stop the boiling water gushing out of the pipe to outside? Does this mean I will need to replace the timer. After boiler installation, inform the user regarding its operation and give him this manual, which is an integral and essential. I think error F is something to do with the system pressure, check the. Hi my boiler is flashing FI understand I have to increase pressure. This is just to say your pressure is low. May 20- Are you wondering if there’s a fix for your faulty Ferroli boiler. It’s common for homeowners to experience a wealth of fault codes flashing up. Cause and solution of error code Ffor boiler DOMIcompact F24D (brand Ferroli). Is your boiler DOMIcompact F24D by Ferroli malfunctioning. At the top of the boiler there should be a flexible hose with two valve taps that you can open by hand. I have the same boiler ferroli optimax he plus c and the same. Ferroli Combi, Modena, Optima, Falkon Only Gas Safe Registered personnel can work on your equipment. If there is an issue with your boiler and you need help contact Ferroli customer service team. Ferroli boilers are not suitable for outside installation and therefore you need to install it within the building where the temperature doesn’t go under 5 degrees ( no frost conditions). Where your gas appliance must be is installed in a bathroom or room with a shower, you need to take special care to the fact that any electrical switch or electrical appliance must be placed the way it is not possible to touched by person having a bath or taking a shower. Also place where the boiler is installed doesn’t require any special vent when if the standard concentric flue is used. Your appliance should be connected to a single phase 230 V 50 Hz electricity supply with a 3 A max. fuse. Your appliance should also be connected to a bipolar switch but the contact opening needs to be minimum 3 mm and placed the electricity supply and the boiler. Not obeying minimal clearances is a safety issue and may result in appliance damage as well as health injure. The same rule applies to external timer. The switch contacts must be free of voltage. For greater energy savings and bigger comfort it is always advised to use a digital or manual room thermostat It holds the main burner ignition till fan correctness test is passed. Whenever the difference in pressure between the air intake pipe and the flue gas discharge pipe is not at equal to the minimal value of the calibration pressure, the pressure switch contacts won’t be able to close preventing the gas valve from opening. The electrical circuit of the boiler is designed so that if for any reason the air pressure switch contacts remain closed when the fan stops, the burner will not start up again. In cold weather the boiler may appear to run when there is no demand for heating ( room thermostats switched off). This is because the central heating sensor will go into frost protection mode.Whenever the system pressure drops below 0.5 bar system will need to be refilled. It can done by utilizing a filling loop and air venting the radiators.Installation of the single check valve in the flow will prevent heating system gravity flow circulation, in instances, where the boiler is installed below the level of the central heating system. Set the boiler thermostat is set to maximum so that the adjustments you will be doing will be accurate. The pressure gauge should be connected to the pressure test point downstream of the gas valve. Move the screw that is adjusting the temperature to maximum value and then adjust the pressure to the proper value. After you completed this stage you will need to twice or three times shut down and start up the burner. This should be done by using the thermostat. You need to verify each time that the urner ignites correctly and that pressure values remain as adjusted or you will need to adjust pressure several times in short time interval It should be rotated clockwise to increase water temperature and anti-clockwise to reduce it.Increasing the pump speed reduces the thermal head temperature and the same way round. The thermostat will automatically control boiler operation with the regards to the heating output, it will also interrupt temporairly the electrical supply to meet the thermostat heat requirements. Boiler will go into three minute delay if in the heating mode. In the instances where the red lockout light illuminates repeatedly, Ferroli customer service team should be contacted immediately. You should pay attention to the LED numbers as they are always called LED1, LED2, LED3, LED4 and LED 5, following the order logic It should be 20 mbar inlet working pressure for NG and 37 mbar for LPG. Minimum of 22 mm diameter pipework on C.H. flow and return with adequate by-pass. A correctly installed flue system and a 3 amp fuse. If no gas contact your gas supplier If no electricity supply contact your electricity supplier If yes replace PCB If no replace limit thermostat If no replace main board and replace pump If yes check if there is 230V present across fan terminals. If yes then replace the fan If yes check if there is 230V present across fan terminals. If no then replace air pressure switch If yes Adjust with P4 ignition burner pressure or replace the burner If yes check and if necessary replace safety thermostat. Check electrodes and leads for damage and correct connection. Check and if necessary replace P.C.B. If not re-check and replace if necessary air pressure switch At minimum following points are included in annual service: Special attention need to be put on all fixings and seals condition that are linked to the room-sealed compartment like grommets, gaskets, grommets, etc. It is needed because the air leakage would result in pressure drop inside the compartment and would consequently result in tripping the differential pressure switch. That will cause boiler shut down. After cleaning special attention should also put into verifying the stages of start-up and operation of the pump, thermostats and the gas valve. Nowadays repairing the parts is not a common practise as new parts are easy to access and are cheap. Ferroli boiler specialist will come with some spare parts from same manufacturer as the original complete boiler to assure the quality and safety. One year guarantee is provided for all the spares. Isolate the electricity supply, turn off the gas supply at the inlet of the boiler. The cold water mains inlet must be isolated at the inlet cock. The domestic hot water is drained by opening a hot tap. The central heating flow and return cocks should be turned off at the isolation cocks. Remove the parts following the logical sequence of the instructions below. Replace the part in reverse order. Always make sure that water and gas washers are in good condition, and when that is not the case- replace as needed Always test water soundness of all joints, system pressure and the electrical supply. To do so, follow the steps below: Fit top and the bottom gas connections to the new gas valve You should now note all the positions to the switch In order to start your boiler after parts replacement following steps should be done: The burner will ignite and your appliance will start to operate automatically, controlled by its control and safety devices. If you want to choose the domestic hot water only put the know into summer position. In the hot water mode only your appliance is will operate automatically when the domestic hot water will be drawn off. The reset electronic control unit will repeat the start-up cycle. Alternatively, drain the domestic hot water system only and add special anti-freeze to the central heating system. Please scroll down this page for our free guide to common errors and fault indicator lights you may see on your Boilers front display. If you cannot resolve the simple problem yourself (which DO NOT involve opening the boiler cover) using the tips lower down this page or our videos page and need to call us out you can be confident in the following. A01, F01 or a constant red light depending on your boiler This means ignition failure. Check your gas is on and that your condense pipe isn’t frozen. F40 No heating or hot water. Maxima, Optimax, Extrema Pressure is too high on gauge or digital display gauge. Vent a radiator until the pressure falls back down to about 1.5 bar. A03 or F03 error code depending on the boiler This means over-heating. Check your heating valves are open. They are normally at the far left and far right of the boiler. Check you have a radiator without a thermostat. If you do make sure it is open both sides. D1 code showing This is not a fault code. It means DELAY. This indicates that someone has used the hot water. D2 code showing This is not a fault code. It means DELAY. This indicates that your heating has reached the temperature set on the boiler. If you have no heating and D2 is showing: First check the heating valves haven’t been turned off by mistake. If they haven’t your boiler will need a repair. If your boiler will not re-set anymore Some boilers do have a limit on the amount of times you can reset them. Wait 30 seconds then turn it back on. Sometimes you will have to wait up to 2 minutes for the software to set up again. Then press reset. NOTE: There may be an underlying problem which will require a repair to prevent a much more costly repair in the future. This is particularly true if you find yourself having to keep resetting the same ongoing fault. If you have no heating but the hot water works fine The following relates to the above problem with HE boilers. First check the timer is on, turn the room stat to maximum. Make sure temperature on the boiler is set for 65 to 75. We Are Certified By Ferroli Customer service and advice is paramount to us. The divertor valve is constructed of plastic and therefore expands over time with heat so it sticks. A new diverter valve is probably required.
