You do have to install some software though, which leaves icons on your desktop (OSX Mavericks) that I haven't found a way to get rid of. I'm not crazy about that part. But aside from that, it's a really handy foot controller. Smaller than the Behringer FCB1010, which makes it more practical for travel and takes up less space on stage if you have a tight setup. Also a lot less pedals than the Behringer, but since I need to be able to find pedals easily without looking down for long, fewer pedals may be more practical anyway. In researching MIDI foot controllers I didn't even know this existed until someone I know got one. So I suspect this item may be overlooked by a lot of people who assume you need to use it with the amp. You can only change A,B,C,D presets--- then if you want a new set of 4 you have to switch it by hand on the amp --then you can use the A,B,C,D again. I wish that I could use my Peavey Sanpera 1, it is a waaaaay better functioning pedal. I'm stuck in the middle. I like the Spider Jam sound(s) but, this pedal is lame. I like the Sanpera 1 but, not the Peavey Vyper sound(s).Please try again later. Audio Junky 5.0 out of 5 stars I used to have a Peavey Transfex 212 with a 10 switch pedal. This was worth its weight in gold playing live. Going from clean to crunch, psychedelic to acoustic, crazy to mild, gives you the ability to change fx at the speed of sound. Covering some songs requires it, writing your own music makes it essential. With the FBV pedal you also get a built in link to the spider 4's tuner in a better way than the amps own display. Its also the only way to connect the amp online to update it. A major design flaw line 6, but a damn good way to ensure you sell a boatload of pedals. Tedious for live playing. I pick bank A, then program the four sounds I need for a few songs, then change banks between songs. Works ok. The other thing you cant miss about this pedal is the very average volume and wah pedal. The volume side is sooooooo sensitive, it goes from naught to blaring in one tiny tap. Once you get past the popping and clicking of the repeated stomps and get to the wah side, it is a very non natural electronic sound. When comparing to a baby wah or cry baby, you get none of the tube like sound that you expect or desire. I did find that using a wah sounding effect while using the pedal helps a ton. On the plus side, and there are a few.Solid build quality can handle just about anything the stage can throw at it, including the stage. I read a story of the entire forward light truss falling on the guitar setup area, destroying mic stands all the bonus pedals, a les paul, a monitor speaker, and floor lights and lasers. The line six fbv pedal had one scratch and a torn rubber wah cover. Rock solid. Made with what every rock pedal should be, heavy metal. The sound switching, although limited to one bank at a time is clean and seamless. The lighting on the pedal, all l.e.d.'s, are very bright even in the brightest daylight and stage lighting. The tuners lights fade from dim to bright as your tuning reaches desired frequency. This is for me the goldmine. We have all been amazed by the quality of how close line 6's artist inspired tones sound. These take that a full light year closer to reality, sounding almost perfect in some cases and dead on in others. Inspiration will take you for a ride with some of these tones that I dare say you would not have found otherwise. My advice is as follows; if you can only afford the 100 bones on a pedal buy it. It's worth it for the ability to switch channels, the make shift wah, and the icing on the cake is the download ability for updates and user made tones. Please try again later. Please try again later. I run bass, vocals, and VST instruments and effects through a live host. With the mapping software I can remap the pedal to control different functions. The build is pretty sturdy. Please try again later. Please try again later. The FBV Express Mk II is the least expensive pedal to give one full control over all basic and essential amp features. This pedal should have been ( or be) included with the amp but it wasn't. Anyway, if you are considering buying the amp (which is great), you really will want to have this pedal, even though it costs 33 of the price of the amp itself. With the FBV Express Mk II you can store the 4 amp channels, each of which has its own settings for model and all effects, as well as control the 14 second looping ability of the Spider IV. Without the pedal, you will not be able to access looping and channel switching in real time while playing (which is the whole point of this thing) unless you have more than the standard compliment of 2 arms, equipped with one hand each. The pedal also interfaces with a computer to allow deep editing and storing of all of the effects of the Line 6 Spider IV combos through a USB port. This feature alone makes it a must-have for taking full advantage of the amp. J.M. TepperPlease try again later. Please try again later. Clarke 4.0 out of 5 stars Using Line 6's Spider IV amps, it's only real shortcoming is it's inability to switch between the 16 User Banks - that is, it can only switch between the 4 channels within a single User Bank. The fix is to throw another hundred bucks at it and get its bigger brother the I've ordered the Please try again later. Please try again later. Wyzman 4.0 out of 5 stars Please try again later. Please try again later. Genesis006 4.0 out of 5 stars This pedal uses an Ethernet cable and will only work with line 6 products. That being said if you have a line 6 amp, this pedal is a must have for the amp!!! The pedal is extremely durable. The pedal also will need some oiling every once in a while otherwise when you're doing swells in the middle of a worship set everyone in the crowd will suddenly hear a loud squeak. Lol! This is from experience Lol!!! Anyway I highly recommend This pedal to anyone who loves there line 6 amp and wants to expand its capabilities. Please try again later. Please try again later. Patrick 5.0 out of 5 stars It came in the mail earlier than the given due date, which didn't bother me. I plugged it in right away to my line-6 spider IV 15, and it sounded great. The volume control works excellently, as does the wah pedal. The channel switching is seamless. There is nothing that I don't like about this product. For players who are just looking to get more into the sound affects of guitar playing, this is a must have! Please try again later. Please try again later. MetalMan 5.0 out of 5 stars I love all the effect available right at my finger tips. However, that was my main problem, i had to push buttons with my hands to change effects. But not anymore! I just got this in the mail, and I've been messing around with it for hours and hours. I instantly fell in love with it. The wah is very tasteful, not overwhelming. And the volume control is very handy as well. Eventually i will upgrade to the fbv shortboard, but for now, this is perfect. From just messing around at home, to jamming with a band, this is a must for anyone with a compatible amp. Please try again later. Please try again later. This was recommended to me by one of Thomann's studio techs (kudos to them!), and i couldn't have been more happy. Positive sides: first of all, the unit feels very sturdy and rugged, and looks like it could withstand fair amount of abuse. You can even save the mappings as presets if you use different mappings for different software. Works perfectly with DAWs and with Amplitube 3. Uses pretty standard USB connector (type B), no proprietary crap here (except for Line6 amp connector which looks like a regular Cat5 cable anyway), doesn't need any special drivers - works out of the box with Windows 7 x64. Top notch stuff, really love this thing. There are a few small flaws with it, however. First of all, the USB cable is not included. As a IT guy i have loads of cables lying around so it wasn't a problem for me, but i think this should be clearly indicated on the product page. The pedal itself, when pulled completely downwards, doesn't always rest on a zero value so if you're controlling a Whammy pedal emulation, you'd have to constantly press the pedal down to make the pedal value zero and thus NOT slightly pitch-shift the sound all the time. Not a big deal though, since you can just switch off the Whammy with a button:-) Also, sometimes the unit stops sending MIDI signals without any apparent reason - although the problem usually solves itself after a minute or two. Overall, a great product and well worth its asking price. I would give it five stars if it wasn't for a few small flaws. Send report Total features quality Very useful addition to the Line 6 Amplifi Alan796, 24.04.2020 I use mine with an Amplifi 75, and it's a godsend for that, because otherwise you're fiddling around with the app. You can save your top 4 settings as A-D on the stomp buttons and then of course make any changes via the dials on the Amplifi. The wah-wah volume pedal is good too. The action is a bit lighter than say a real Cry Baby pedal, but it's absolutely fine, in fact some may prefer the lighter action. You've to do a little stomp on the pedal to flip between wah-wah and volume. If I'm nit-picking, more stomp buttons and a second swell pedal would be nice, but I guess for the price, this is more than good enough. Send report Total features quality Does exactly what it says on the tin. TByrne, 11.12.2019 I bought this footswitch to use as a midi controller with BiasFX 2 via Reaper to turn on and off virtual guitar pedals within the BiasFX program. It worked straight out of the box without having to fiddle with any settings (only Reaper itself needed a couple of changes). The pedals all have a nice feel and a satisfying click. The wah pedal has just the right amount of resistance. You just assign the physical pedals to your virtual pedals and you're off. Very happy with this product. Send report Total features quality Perfect Price 24.11.2015 The Line6 FBV Express MKII is the perfect accompniment to many Line6 products such as Spider IV amps and the POD. Personally I have a Spider IV 150w Amp which is a great combo modelling amp, however it can be impractical when it comes to changing channels etc. In order to do this you need a dedicated footswitch or floorboard. I chose the FBV Express MKII because I was happy with the fact that it could change up to four channel settings and was far cheaper than the FBV Shortboard MKII. I was even tempted to go for the FBV Shortboard due to their price but managed to resist temptation. The product was delivered to Scotland within 3 days of ordering so absolutely nothing to complain about there either. I figured out the ethernet connection and channel switching thing quickly enough, but I have two problems I was hoping someone would help me answer? 1) I can't switch from volume to wah. I have been stuck on volume since I got the thing. 2) I can't hook up my other effects pedals without getting this nasty squeaking sound. Is there some sort of manual calibration require. Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thanks Pleasure.
