Karen L. 1.0 out of 5 stars I originally ordered a pot on January 1 and was looking forward to receiving it. Unfortunately, once plugged in, the cord smoked and the base of pot had a heavy burning plastic smell. I immediately returned the pot and ordered another one. ( I am a glutton for punishment.) I got the second pot yesterday only to experience the exact same burning smell when pot was plugged in. I note that both pots were made in Mexico. (Both pots also had quality control stickers on the bottom, so I am not sure what level of quality Farberware now allows for.http://www.santalfioadrano.it/fckeditor/immagini_fck/emerson-radios-manuals.xml I did read other unfavorable reviews from buyers noting their pots were made in China but I ignored them.) Guess Farberware thought they would try Mexico this time for manufacturing. I would continue my review but I must go to UPS to return this item asap so I can get my money back. (I would like to say that Amazon is great on returns!)It failed to perc yesterday. I am returning it to the manufacturer. According to the warranty posted here at Amazon: This coffee pot has a lifetime limited warranty which guarantees this product to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal household use for the LIFETIME of the product. Farberware division promises the original purchaser to replace any defective part or item during the guaranteed period. Mail the item to: Meyer Corporation Consumer Relations 2005 Meyer Way Fairfield, CA 94533 I'm doing that Monday. Will let this list know my experience.I bought my first one 3 years ago and LOVED IT!!! Unfortunately, I forgot to put water in it recently and plugged it in, and that was the end of that. I simply had to have another, and was I ever thrilled that Amazon still sold the same percolator!! I couldn't wait to get it. When it arrived, I immediately noticed the stainless steel was lighter in weight than my first percolator. Not just the pot, but the parts inside that make it work, too. The lid did not fit tightly (in fact, it popped off twice while perking a pot of coffee!!), and the measurements on the carafe were slightly lower than those on my first percolator. And for some strange reason, I have to use more coffee to make the same strength that the other percolator brewed. Again, this is the same brand and model as my first percolator. Sometime during the last three years, Farberware lowered its standards and came up with a cheaply made percolator. I will try to contact Farberware to see if anyone there can find me an older pot like my other one, because this one is a piece of junk!https://events.citeve.pt/chat-conversation/delorme-street-atlas-manualI have had these coffee pots over the yrs.I ditched this pot a few years ago. I just forgot to do a review, probably because I wanted to erase the memory of paying for one of these. I bought this to replace one I had for about 3 DECADES. It made great coffee so I actually had the audacity to think a new one would be just as good. I was wrong. I am finally totally convinced that if you want to see a product ruined, wait till Black and Decker buys the rights and start producing it. The new pot was absolute crap. The stainless was like tin compared to the old one. The lid was so tight I had to fight to get it off. Worst of all.the percolator boiled the bejesus out of the coffee.without stopping. Yes, friends, that is right. It wouldn't stop percolating. Ever. I had to unplug it. To add insult to injury, the plug was hot. Since I was late in using the thing, I could not return it. My only recourse was to place that perolator where it belonged. In the garbage. Well, actually some recycle guy picked it up from the street. Thank goodness I kept the old Faberware 2-4 Cup Percolator. You know, the one MADE IN AMERICA by the Real Faberware Company. I'm still using it. Gee, I wonder where they are making these percolators. I'll take a shot in the dark: China. In my case, it conked out 6 months after purchase and thus, became a worthless piece of stainless steel. I figured that with 180 perks, it cost 21 cents per perk to go from great to junk status. So--if you have any intent to buy this item, throw a few bucks into the 3rd party warranty. Or, buy another brand whose heating element is not made in China. BTW, our 1968 Farberware percolator is still going strong, so perfection is possible with attention to engineering detail. In fact, some of my friends told me that they thought it was the best coffee they had ever had. Unfortunately, after about three-four years it started developing a moldy taste. I ran it through with vinegar several times, and coffee maker cleaner but nothing would get rid of the taste. We use a percolator at work, a large canister that makes about 40 cups at a time. It makes excellent coffee, so I decided to try one at home. I didn't need a 40 cupper, so I bought this unit. I am making a travel size mug every time. I clean it after each use (easy to clean). I do appreciate the all metal design for the interior, and the canister that doesn't need a filter. Unfortunately, this coffee tastes like something you would find in a cheap restaurant. It is hotter (it says it's 25 degrees hotter), and I have the burned lips to prove it, but hotter does not mean tastier. My old coffee maker made better coffee, and I may be forced to purchase another one to get back to the great coffee it made. This coffee maker is OK. I have no idea why the coffee tastes so much different, but the old drip machine I had made a better cupa joe. EDIT After reading some of the other complaints here, I have to agree. The peculation cycle ends too soon. The coffee maker heats the water too quickly, causing the cycle to end prematurely. This is likely why the coffee does not taste as good as other machines. I have also found myself putting more coffee in the machine due to weak tasting coffee. They seem to have designed this machine for hotter coffer and faster preparation time, but that has resulted in weaker, less robust tasting coffee. When this machine dies, I won't purchase another.I ignored some of the reviews about it making weak coffee. Since we all have different tastes, I thought I would give it a try. It's true, it does not perk the coffee long enough for what I like. Much weaker than even a Timmies coffee. I'm more a StarBucks strength coffee person. Would be nice if it had a setting for how long to perk. I know, that doesn't sound appealing, and I never did try it since I always went back to my drip unit. Will purchase a stove-top style one so I can control the perking time myself. So after some checking on Amazon we picked this one. It was sitting for almost a year in an unopened box untill our automatic one has died. At first we were very happy - coffee was much richer, with deep taste. What a dissapointment though after about 7 months. Taste started getting worse and worse. At first we tried changing coffee brand, ratio of water to coffee but without success. I have re-read some reviews here and must agree with those who say that it simply shuts itself off too early. Probably a poor design or poor quality components.More dissapointment because we paid for it top buck. Tried to turn it off and restart it after few minutes but it would not turn itself on again unless it would fully cool off first. In other words - useless. Just ordered a stove-top one hoping that manual control over brew time will help bring the desired flavour backRecibi un Percolador de 2 - 4 tazas mas nunca de 12 como lo que esta descrito. It is perfect for a couple who have a cup each in the morning. I did not realize when I ordered that there was no automatic shut off (this is a very important safety feature for me) and it cannot be programmed to brew at a certain time. I have been using pods for a few years, and decided I could better regulate the taste and price of my coffee by using grounds.I did not realize how important some features might be to my lifestyle. I found it difficult to see the markings for water level when preparing to brew. I recommend this coffee machine, however it just does not meet my own needs. Title: Farberware Coffee Maker Owner's Manual. Creator Tool: Softplicity. Keywords. Producer: Softplicity. In the 1970s, coffee percolators were widely exchanged for automatic drip coffee makers. Coffee percolators can expose coffee grounds to higher temperatures than other brewing methods. Percolators may also recirculate previously brewed coffee through the beans, resulting in potentially over-extracted coffee. Farberware percolators generally include the name “Farberware” in capital letters on the base of the device. Farberware percolators generally include a black plastic pitcher handle and lid handle, as well as a back plastic base that plugs into the wall with a detachable cord. Farberware percolators are usually made of stainless steel to prevent rusting and corroding from coffee. Farberware percolators are generally electric and include detachable cords for easier serving, storage, and cleaning. Farberware’s 12-cup percolator (model FCP412) can produce up to one cup of coffee per minute, though other models produce different amounts of coffee. Something went wrong.
