With the very low prices of ceiling fans these days, it makes more sense to replace it outright, rather than to have its components repaired, without knowing how long the appliance will last. In other words, I wanted a ceiling fan with built-in lighting, not a fancy lamp with built-in fan. I liked it for its rather minimalist design. Fanco, if you’re reading this, please ensure the right instructions go into the packaging box for the correct fan model.http://www.sa-grapsas.ibisologismos.gr/admin/uploads/eltax-symphony-4_2-manual.xml

A normal fan would have been done in less than half that time. Here we go! Included are 2 incandescent bulbs which we will later replace with energy-saving compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs). Seems we will have to figure out the following installation without the help of diagrams and texts! Before dismantling these components, note the end of the ceiling rod attached to the rubber spool anchor, and the end to the bolt and pin. We are far from done. Run all the wires from the ceiling rod end through the cap as shown. The wires and safety cable remain above the cap as shown. Allow the three electrical wires to emerge from one side, and the safety cable to emerge from the other side. This is not critical, but I did this for better cable organisation. This is so that all the Electrical Wires, including the Earthing Wire, will be on the same side. To get an idea of this hole, scroll down to Step B20 below. After inserting the bolt through the hole, the other end is first fitted with the flat-ring washer, the broken-ring washer, the nut, and finally the locking pin through the tiny hole on the screw-thread. The rubber spool anchor should now be attached firmly in place to the ceiling rod. Note that now all the electrical wires (and earthing wire) are on the same (right) side. Safety cable is on the other (left) side. Just to explain a little, the electrical wires consist of red (live), white (neutral), yellow-green (earth) for the fan, and blue (power control) for the lighting. They have been cut for easy removal by the manufacturer, but in case they are not, just use a wire stripper to do so. Twist the loose internal conductor wires on each exposed end to tighten them together. Study the fan remote controller unit and try and understand the connections shown on the diagram attached to it. The little disclaimer on the label which reads something like “ This Receiver must be connected directly to the current incoming wire. Warranty void if wire connected wrongly.http://www.pemas.at/admin/fckeditorupload/eltax-service-manual.xml ” certainly doesn’t help to ease the situation. Well, don’t be! It is difficult, but it isn’t that difficult. Just follow the connections on the diagram accurately, and you can’t go wrong by adhering to the colour code and label on each wire. Each wire on the Fan and Remote Controller Unit (RCU) is labelled with its designation, e.g. AC IN L, AC IN N, FAN L, FAN N, LIGHT etc.L for Live, N for Neutral. Looking on the contours of the controller unit and the design of the ceiling cup, the position of the unit should be with the connection diagram facing up. See the next photo for the complete seating position. Also, take heed of the following CONNECTIONS. Only three pairs of twisted wires shall be secured with wire nuts as shown. Note the other cable and wires without wire nuts left to be connected. Here I used the connector block, which I prefer of the two methods. Note the following connections: This secures the safety cable and its purpose further. If my guess is right, this will need to be exposed as shown above. Note that there should be a slight gap of about one finger between the cup and the ceiling. The only items left to assemble are the lighting and fan blades. Let’s start with the lights. For brighter lights, I would use the main lights currently installed at my ceiling. I also chose warm white for its slightly yellowish hue for ambience lighting. Check the bulb holder size on your fan to be sure. The light should come on. This is the reason I installed the bulbs before the fan blades, so that I can test the remote controller unit and wires have been connected correctly. You may also press the button printed Low at this point, to ensure that the motor is functioning. If there are any errors in the connection of wires, I can still remove the ceiling cup and make adjustments. Now that we know everything is working fine so far, it’s time to fit the fan blades on. So where are the screws?http://dev.pb-adcon.de/node/17421 Remove each set of screws as you’re installing each fan blade to the fan motor. Notice that the words SIDE UP is also embossed on the top surface of the fan blade. I do this to keep the entire fan in equilibrium and in balance as much as possible and so, had installed the blades in the order 1, 3, 5, 2 and 4. This may not be necessary as the fan blades are each weighed on electronic scales for perfect balance. I’m glad to say the fan did not wobble on the first attempt. If you notice any wobbling, just swap adjacent blades and retest. Keep swapping until the fan stops wobbling. Usually one or two swaps should do the trick! Learn how your comment data is processed. There are many reasons to buy from Del Mar Fans and Lighting, however, here are just a few reasons we would like to bring attention to!A safe shopping experience. If the circuit breaker tripped, reset the breaker. If there are any blown fuses, replace the damaged fuses. Turn the power off the circuit breaker. Loosen the canopy, check all the wire connections are correctly assembled and secured with wire nuts. Make sure the fan blades spin freely. Pull the pull chain to make sure it is on. Confirm the reverse switch is not in a neutral position. Flip the switch several times to lock into position. Verify the plug connection in switch housing is securely fastened and all color-coded cables are aligned. If you have the electrical know-how, check the wall switch for power. If you are inexperienced in this area, call an electrician to check the wire connections. An electrician can diagnose the issue at a reasonable cost. If you are using a remote control, check that the batteries are installed properly and are not dead. Check that the dip switches on the remote and receiver are set to the same frequency. If you’re using a wall control, check the power to the breaker from your control and try working your ceiling fan manually. If your ceiling fan is located in a damp or wet environment, confirm the fan and outlet box is UL rated for that environment. While damp-rated and wet-rated ceiling fans can be installed indoors, dry-rated fans should not be installed outdoors as these fans are not equipped to withstand moisture or direct contact with water. If your ceiling fan is new, go through each of the steps listed above. If the issue is not resolved, contact your ceiling fan manufacturer and explain the problem as this is most likely an issue with the specific model. Many manufacturers offer a limited or lifetime warranty on the ceiling fan. If your ceiling fan is found to only be rated for indoor use, you will need to purchase an outdoor ceiling fan for the damp or wet rated areas around your home. Ceiling Fan Remote Troubleshooting Ceiling Fan Speeds Are Not Working If your ceiling fan won't turn on or your speed settings are not working properly, you may notice a sharp change in the airflow. To determine the cause of the fan speed malfunction, follow the steps below: Clean and lubricate the ball bearings. Replace the ceiling fan capacitor. If the above does not resolve the issue, continue to the following steps to check for over-heating. Run the ceiling fan for a few minutes. Turn off the ceiling fan and allow the blades to come to a full stop. Feel the motor housing with the back of your hand to determine if it's hot (be careful not to burn yourself). If the motor housing is hot, the bearings are shot and the motor needs to be replaced. To replace the motor, contact the ceiling fan manufacturer directly. Many ceiling fan manufacturers offer a limited or lifetime warranty on the motor. To ensure that your ceiling fan will work for years to come purchase a Minka Aire or Hunter ceiling fan. Shop All Ceiling Fans Fan Light Kit Not Working If your ceiling fan is operating correctly, but the light kit fails, use the steps below to determine the cause: Check that the light bulb is securely fastened into the socket. Confirm the bulb has not burned out. If so, turn the power off and replace the light bulb. Restore power and resume normal use. Be careful not to over tighten the light bulb into the socket. This can cause the light bulb to flatten a small tab in the light sockets interior, causing the socket to fail and preventing ceiling fan from powering the light. Turn off the power and use a small knife or screwdriver to pull the tab up. Inspect the light bulb sockets for charred or burn marks. If so, you may have a short in the wiring and you will need to fix or replace the wiring. Verify the light bulb's wattage does not exceed the light kit's wattage limit. Some ceiling fans are equipped with a wattage limiting device, which disables the fan's light kit. If so, turn the power off and replace the light bulb, keeping the wattage under the recommended watts. Restore the power and resume normal operation. Verify the wires in canopy and switch housing are wired properly and secured with wire nuts. Generally, the blue wire controls the light kit. If you are using a remote or wall control to operate the light kit, confirm the dip switches on the receiver and control are set to the same frequency. Use the following tips to identify the cause: Confirm the circuit breaker is not malfunctioning. Verify the wire connections are not frayed and are securely connected with wire nuts. Remote and wall controls often come with default factory settings. So if your neighbors recently purchased a new fan, they could very well be controlling yours. When installing a new ceiling fan, create a unique frequency. Verify the ceiling fan is suspended to hang between 7-8 feet from the floor so the air is reaching the ground. Also, a fan that is too close to the ceiling or wall will provide poor airflow. Consider using a longer downrod that allows the ceiling fan to hang at least eight - nine feet from the floor. If you have an older ceiling fan, turn it off for a few minutes and then carefully touch the base to see if it's hot. If so, you may need a new fan motor or bearings. To ensure you have a ceiling fan that moves a good amount of air, consider replacing your existing fan with a high airflow ceiling fan. Shop All High Airflow Ceiling Fans Ceiling Fan Is Not Reversing If you've attempted to reverse your ceiling fan for the winter, but noticed no change in the direction of the fan blades, there could be several causes. Turn off the ceiling fan and allow the blades to come to a full stop before flipping the switch. Follow the steps below to determine the cause: Confirm the reverse switch is not in a neutral position. Flip the switch several times to make sure it is the right place. If you have an older ceiling fan, the switch may be worn out. In this case, replace the reverse switch. If you are using a remote or wall control to reverse the ceiling fan, confirm the dip switches on the control and receiver are set to the same frequency. If your ceiling fan is brand new, contact the manufacturer for a replacement fan. Some ceiling fans are not able to be reversed. If a reversible ceiling fans is something that you desire to ensure your ceiling fan is working with your heating and cooling system year-round, consider purchasing a ceiling fan with a reverse on the remote or wall control. Shop Reversible Ceiling Fans Ceiling Fan Is Wobbling If your ceiling fan wobbles or shakes, it may be due to several factors such as bent blade brackets, loose screws, or dusty or warped fan blades. Use the steps below to determine the cause of the problem: Remove any dirt or debris from all fan blades. Tighten any loose screws on the light kit, fan blades, motor coupling, downrod, and mounting hardware. Confirm the hanger ball is firmly seated in the mounting bracket. Confirm the outlet box is ceiling fan-rated and designed to support the ceiling fan's weight. Confirm the outlet box is securely attached to a beam or a support brace. If the outlet box is installed directly to the ceiling, this could cause wobbling and eventually damage the ceiling. How to Balance Your Ceiling Fan Ceiling Fan is Noisy Many people find the gentle whooshing of a ceiling fan soothing; however, anything louder can be a sign of a serious problem. To determine the cause of your noisy fan, use the steps below: If you've recently installed the fan, allow 24 hours for the ceiling fan to adjust. If your ceiling fan has a light kit, tighten any loose screws securing the glassware. Confirm the light bulbs are firmly threaded into the socket. If you're using a wall control, make sure the control is not an infinitely variable speed type. A stepped speed control should be used instead. If your ceiling fan has an oil bath, check the oil level and replenish oil as needed. Locate and tighten any loose screws on lower switch housing, blade holders, motor coupling, and downrod. Confirm all pins are firmly in place. Verify the wire connections are not rattling against each other or the interior wall of the switch housing. Verify wire nuts have not fallen off. Confirm the canopy is not touching the ceiling while the fan is in operation. Verify the fan blades are not cracked. If the fan blades are cracked, replace the damaged blades with a new blade set from the same brand as your ceiling fan to ensure compatibility. Shop Ceiling Fan Blade Sets Do you have a ceiling fan problem that is not listed above. Let us know! Leave a comment below. Have been installed for about a week, and have made the noise from day 1 essentially, and it has increased in frequency in just that short time. For the price of these fans, do you think it is acceptable to have these issues happen and brush it off as installation error (as you have with the reviews above). Like Share More 1 answer Charlie123 2 days ago We have an issue with 4 x 48” with lights installed in August. I wonder if there’s a problem with the new batch. Running them in hasn’t helped and they don’t wobble so that doesn’t explain the noise. We don’t have the issue with the 52” without a light. Like Report Bee Tee asked 2 months ago I'm posing a question based on a response to another post. As per the quoted response from Fanco below, could you please advise if the dimmable fan range requires extra electrical work. The Eco Silent's light has an output of 1200 lumens, which as you mention is quite bright. If you're looking for a fan in the future, we would suggest taking a look at our Urban 2 range. The AC version is available with an E27 light fitting which would allow you to choose your own globe. As Ellen says, the Eco Silent does not have a dimming function - you are referring to the Urban 2 listed here on product review. The Urban 2 has three-step dimming, which means that it will always switch on at 100, but once it's on, you can dim it to 50 quickly flick the switch off and on again. Flicking the switch off and on once more will dim the brightness to 15. What i need to know is if extra electrical is required for a dimmable light. It normally would require extra? Thx. Like Report View 1 more answer Leigh asked 9 months ago Are you able to replace the light globe manually or is it a sealed system Like Share More 3 answers Noel 9 months ago Can’t see anything in the manual Leigh but don’t think so as they are a ring of led lights Like Report Fanco A. Fanco Australia 9 months ago Hi Leigh, Noel is right - the LED light in the Eco Silent is integrated into the fan and can't be swapped out like an E27 globe or B22 globe can. Keep in mind though, LED lights have a much longer life expectancy than traditional globes, and the Eco Silent's light is covered by its own 12 month warranty. Otherwise, we have a couple of options in our range with light fittings which are easier to replace. The closest match would be the AC version of the Urban 2 - available with an E27 fitting. For something completely different, you could look at the Origin. Its light kit is available separately and can be added to the fan after installation, so you could buy a replacement light kit and swap it over if necessary. Just wonder if you are able to do a package deal. Eddie Like Share More 1 answer Fanco A. Fanco Australia 10 months ago Good morning Eddie, we're very happy to hear you're so interested in our product. To buy the Eco Silent you will need to get in touch with one of our re-sellers. They are the best people to speak to about pricing, as we don't sell directly to the public. You can find your nearest re-seller here: Like Report Mez asked 12 months ago Hi, I notice there is feedback regarding poor installation instructions. You say you are looking into updating this. As I don't want to hire an electrician to install 4 ceiling fans that is going to be fiddly and take extra time (more costs to me), have you updated the instructions so that it is easier and simple for installers to follow, as I'm sure no one wants to be sitting on the phone asking questions, and if they have not yet been updated can you please advise when will this be done. Like Share More 2 answers Fanco A. Fanco Australia 12 months ago Hi, Thanks for getting in touch. I'm not sure if you're asking specifically about the Eco Silent or our fans in general, because I could only find one Eco Silent review which mentions that the instructions could be improved. Each of our models has comes with its own specific instructions and we have made several updates to each of them based on feedback over the years. By our judgement, they're clear and easy to read, but of course were quite familiar with our fans. If you would like to show your electrician any of our manuals prior to purchase, they are available on our website here: It's completely understandable that youd prefer not to call but in any case, our team will be available for troubleshooting during business hours if you need us. Like Report Mez 12 months ago Thanks for your quick reply, and yes I was looking at your fans in general. I guess you can say I'm finding it hard having to replace all 4 of my fans that are working very slowly and only 3 years old (and have done this 3 times in 10yrs) including a hunter pacific that only works on winter mode after 5yrs (I live in Qld). I find the warranties with all companies are useless due to the run around with service departments and the cost to have an electrician point out the problems. I think its sad that it comes down to pot luck that you get a fan that will last.I guess China and technology hasn't changed with fans. It would be nice to find a fan that will outdo its warranty period for more years to come rather than the 1-3yrs Like Report Jane T asked 1 year ago Hi there, reading the reviews, it sounds like your product is just what I want, especially now that you are getting rid of the beeping. (Great work on the listening to your customers!) My only concern is the bright LED light. Is it possible to have a warm light that is of a lux level of 200 only. Thank you Like Share More 2 answers Fanco A. Fanco Australia 1 year ago Hi Jane, thanks for getting in touch. It’s great to hear that you’re interested in our range. We try to take customer feedback into account, and we had a lot of consistent comments about the beep, so making the change was a relatively easy decision. However, when it comes to lights, each of our customers seems to want something slightly different. There is currently only one light option for the Eco Silent, but you may be interested in our Urban 2 DC fan. The integrated light has a dimming function and CCT technology, so you can adapt it to your needs. It might be best if you visit one of our resellers to get a sense of the fan and light in person.
