C A L I B R A CI ON DE LA BR UJ UL A Dado que la brujula usa el campo magnetico de la Tierra, usted debe tener cuidado de objetos metalicos gr andes tales como vehiculos o puentes, u objetos que emitan radiacion electromagnetica como televisores o computadoras, porque podrian afectar el campo magnetico alrededor del reloj. Si la brujula es calibrada cerca de tales objetos, solo funcionara apropiadamente en ese mismo lugar. Si la brujula es calibr ada lejos de tales objetos, no funcionara apropiadamente en la cercania de ellos. P ara optimos resultados, haga la calibracion en el area donde va a ser usada. Hay que evitar tambien areas que pudieran exhibir concentraciones de hierro duro y suave mas altas de lo normal, pues pueden ocasionar rumbos incorrectos. Cuando un rumbo no infunda con?anza, vuelva a calibr ar. Al calibrar y tomar rumb os es importante, como co n todas las bruju las, mante ner la brujul a a nivel. Si usted no desea programar el angulo de declinacion, puls e D O N E. B R U J U L A El modo brujula permite leer una brujula electronica. Pulse MODE varias veces hasta que aparezca COMP. La brujula debe ser calibrada antes de su uso y la calibracion debe realizarse en el area donde va a ser usada; ver CALIBRACION DE LA BRUJULA. Si la brujula no ha sido calibrada desde cuando se cambio la pila, en el reloj aparece PLEASE CAL, para recordarle hacer la calibracion. El reloj muestra un rumbo en la direccion de las 12 en punto y una aguja virtual (un bloque al frente y tres bloques atras) senala al norte. Si el reloj se gira, el rumbo se actualiza y la aguja virtual rota, senalando siempre el norte. Despues de 20 segundos, la brujula se apaga automaticamente para alargar la dur acion de la pila. Oprima cualquier boton en cualquier momento par a mantener la brujula encendida por otros 20 segundos. US A N DO LA B RU J U LA Una vez activada la brujula como se describio anteriormente, hay dos formas comunes para usar la aguja virtual y dar vuelta al anillo giratorio. ?Hacia donde voy? Sostenga el reloj de modo que las 12 en punto esten en la direccion de su viaje. Rote el anillo giratorio hasta que la aguja virtual este senalando el norte en el anillo. Su rumbo es la direccion en el anillo a las 12 en punto. Esta debe ser la misma direccion presentada en pantalla. ?Cual ruta debo seguir. Si sabe la direccion a donde desea ir (p.e.,NE), rote el anillo giratorio hasta que la direccion aparezca a las 12 en punto. Sostenga el reloj de modo que usted este colocado a las 12 en punto. Enseguida, gire su cuerpo hasta que la aguja de la brujula senale el norte en el anillo giratorio. Ahora usted esta colocado en la direccion que desea seguir. A NG U LO D E DE C LIN A C I O N Una brujula detecta el “norte magnetico”, el cual pudier a ser ligeramente diferente del “norte verdadero” que ?gur a en los mapas. Esta diferencia, llamada “angulo de declinacion” y que varia alrededor del mundo, es por lo general pequena y puede ser ignorada en muchos casos. Sin embargo, usted puede hacer que el reloj compense automaticamente ajustando su angulo de declinacion despues de calibrar la brujula; ver CALIBRACION DE LA BRUJULA.
