The ability to set virtually any mode to manual, automatic or special preset is powerful for the enthusiast (or even professional -- i dare say). The HD images are stunning, videos are brilliant and true to color. I took a video at 1000fps of a pistol firing and the camera captured the bullet leaving the barrel. I must admit the camera can be a bit much with all the various features and options, but this is offset by the means of pre-setting the camera functions to automatic which helps serve to acquire much of what you would expect from that great camera you were looking for.Note: When it arrives it only comes with Japanese instructions and the camera language is in Japanese. As for the camera language, after setting the time and date press the Menu button. Then scroll up the the language tab ( even though it is in Japanese you'll see the word English. Click that and the camera now displays English.The only drawback and big disappointment is that the camera I received was made in China and not in Japan as I thought it would be since vendor is listed as from Japan. Hopefully camera lasts!!! This model (ZR 1000) aside from being fast offers so many features and one that I am fond of is its ability switch to fisheye-lens mode. Small and compact with lots to offer.The resolution is not very high, but for the money there isn't anything that I could find on the market that comes even remotely close to the capability. Loaded with features, I have used this as a backup to my DSLR's and it allows RAW capture and manual mode, as well as full HD video. Is it still a point-n-shoot.But it takes some really great images, and for the money it would be hard to beat, and impossible to find anything other than Casio's other Exilim line that can capture the speed. So far, it has been durable and I am very pleased with this camera. A little difficult to decipher all the options at first, but after some reading (you will need to download an English version of the manual from Casio if you don't read Japanese) it is easy to operate, and the controls are very adaptable to your style.For the cost of this camera: I am truly amazed at the quality at 120fps, 240fps, and even at 1000fps. It does take about 40mb for each second of slow motion video, but for my needs, that's fine. The quality is really good, easy to use, and regular photos and HD video is also better than I expected.
