enya 45cx manualI have gone to Webra Austria. This is not new motor prob. Can't find parts manual. Can someone help me out Its from circa 1959 Regards Its from circa 1959 Regards The engine has only 'Millineum' on one side and '65' on the other. I came up with just a few hits on it and it appears to be a 1990's vintage knockoff of a OS 60 FSR style engine made in Taiwan. Seems that it is a Mutunuc Millineum 65. They are reported to run strong but the carbs were a problem and with a good replacement they do well. ref: 2. Also have a.46 that I can't ID, only has a logo in a 'O' on it. Need paperwork for both. Get a disposable jar (pickle jar) or a coffee can and pour enough fuel in it to cover the carburetor, then put the carb in there overnight. Let it soak for a few days if you have to. I have three of these engines, but I bought them all used and without instructions, otherwise I would shoot a copy your way. Hang in there. Maybe someone reading our posts will take kindly to us and send us a copy of their instructions. Just run it. If it doesn't work, then you start thinking about which part you might strip. If you must be cautious, take the backplate off and flush the internals out in a methanol bath to clean out any loose debris, (castor gum, dirt). Then inspect the rear ball race for rust. If the ballrace isn't rusted, put the backplate back on and flood the engine with air tool compressor oil or sutomatic transmission fluid (after-run oil) through the plug hole and carby intake hole. Fit a prop and turn it over to work it into the bearings and coat the parts. Turn it upside down, open the carb oriface and exhaust port and drain the oil out.I had a quick look through the backplate and noticed alot of caramel looking gluggy crap. Should i clean this all away by flushing it, or is it there to lubricate the bearings. Also 20 seems like alot, should i need that much just for training? If you're using 20 nitro you should apply for American citizenship. You don't need anywhere near that much, so reduce the amount by 15-20 and give it a go.I had a quick look through the backplate and noticed alot of caramel looking gluggy crap. Also 20 seems like alot, should i need that much just for training? Some caramel looking goop in the engine won't hurt how it runs, if it is not presently affecting how it runs. How's that for Catch 22. That is why I am being so cautious about disassembling the engine. What you have is valuable to someone that knows the performance that these engines are capable of providing the owner. Not many folks do. They treat them as regular sport engines and that is how they behave, but generally have developed a bad reputation for being low on power and cantankerous.http://rueanthai-raminthra.com/images/upload/userphoto/dj-tech-vinyl-usb-20-manual.xml The latter is true if you over prop (bigger than a 10x6 prop) and burn too much nitro simultaneously. That is why they didn't sell all that well. Why Enya did not include this information with the engine is beyond me. Believe it or not, I got my information second hand from an MRC representative. He knew about the.40 -.45 CX engines and how to tune them for max performance. He spoke to the factory folks and found out. However, if allowed to spin up with a moderate load (10x6 to 11x5), fed 5 or less nitro fuel and tuned slightly leaner than the typical ABC engine, they come alive and will not sag in the verticals like other engines. What size should I use? Most need 'long', or universal length and 'short' is only for tiny engines. Of all the plugs, you should select one with the correct heat range. For your Enya.45CX engine the right heat range is 'medium'..And use fuel with 20 lubricant, 5 nitro and the remaining 75 methanol. I strongly suggest that you enlist the help of a more experienced flyer and modeler, to make your first steps more enjoyable. Trying to persist on your own and making all the mistakes by yourself, may quickly get you frustrated and out of the hobby. It will cost you unneedlessly too. What size should I use? You won't need to use high castor content fuel. I guess the Enya is ABC construction. I've also had very good experiences buying from Ken Enya - an absolute gentleman. In short as a personal preference I'd consign the Fox to the engine drawer. Regards Greg Enyas take a bit to run in but will last almost for ever. Currently building a 'Pluto' 44in span profile sport stunt job from Aug 79 Model Aviation, original motor was a Fox 35 or so. There are plenty of classic stunters for the Fox 35 but I don't care for that motor. The SS30 looked like a good replacement. Thanks. Aero58 The model was quite heavy (0.8 mm ply fuselage sides), but it came alive with the 30. 65 ft lines, and a blast to fly in just about any conditions. To make this happen the prop was a 10 x 6 APC, not sure of the TO RPM. Prior to that I'd tried a 25 LA and a TT25 in the model, but the 30 just blew them away. I'm strongly contemplating building an Ares for one, problem is it takes me forever to build even simple models. Chris Chris, only the good models take the time. One tip for modelling progress is to do something on your project every day, even if it is five minutes just looking at the plan. Soon there will be progress and the model will nearing completion. Give it a go. Aero58 Feel sorry for the guys that buy OS 25LA, pay alsmost the samething and get a lot less. Martin Not have as in done so yet Aero58, but seriously considering it -which is what drew me to this thread. I'm a huge ENYA fan. I had a SIG Banshee years ago and the Fox 35 I had flew that strongly enough for me on 60' lines. So if ENYA's SS30S puts out more power than a venerable Fox, and can cope with a decent sized prop without loading up -which is a positive characteristic of ENYA motors IME, that it'll be plenty. That PB ENYA seems about just right.. and the price is very right too for such a quality motor. It's pleasing to hear such reaffirming comments about another fine ENYA product. I use an APC 10.5x4.5, launched in a wet 2-stroke at about 10300 rpm. I just use the stock venturi and muffler (with 5 nitro) and would have no hesitation in using this setup in any classic.35-size stunter. Steve Alleviates my only real concern re it not developing power or running well unless operated near the top of its RPM power curve due to the Schnuerled design and its bore x stroke parameters. Unfortunately Enya direct and AU supplier RCHQ are both OOS ATM.First flick starts as well. Aero58 Link: Aero58 - sounds like it could do with a bit more running-in, or maybe run it a bit richer if you can. They certainly start nicely. I just choke mine twice, turn it over a few times, and tweak the spinner backwards. Starts first time, every time. It's good to know the eBay seller is a solid one. That actual link has actually been on my watch list since I first started contemplating the SS30. I almost pressed buy button on it a week and a half ago when Paypal were offering a tasty discount incentive if you used them for the purchase, which I would in any case. But hadn't made up my mind vacillating on which motor as the most suitable powerplant for what I want to do with it. So I used the promo discount on an new WAECO Cool-Ice fibreglass cooler instead because it had a use by date. I have several other concurrent projects running I'll get on with interim. I'll just bide my time until Enya produce some more and Enya direct have them listed back in stock again. July sometime is the planned availability envelope for the next batch of SS30's from the Enya foundry I've been led to believe. Fingers crossed. I'm in no great rush. I even emailed RCHQ in Werribee for a shipping quote as he still had them listed but the site doesn't reflect real time stock status. Had sold the last and he too is awaiting stock. It also appears Mike no longer has the SL distro for Enya in AU his dad had. But Enya was an early adopter to change distro and sales model to direct online selling. It appears to be working as demand is quite apparently outstripping supply. I even emailed Alberto Parra after belatedly seeing his Enya offer of 14th Jan in another forum. No joy with supplying a SS30S. All gone. And he doesn't do a tongue muffler for them either which rather surprised me. Sufficient projects in progress and on the planning board to keep me well occupied until then. It's for one of a pair of Twisters, and I plan on having my Akromasters x2 and Skyray 35s x2 operational before the cutting out (kit parts of ea used as masters) starts on those. Just bought me a new scroll saw and shop vac to assist with the 'harder than I remember' to cut out English birch ply and assist with 'mess control'. Cheers! Ciaran Got the SS30 months earlier, glad I did. Keep building and flying traditional models. Do have an OS LA 46 saved for a Strathmore (large area model) and an ENYA 45-II for Palmers Skyscraper. Ya Ya I know I should get an OS or something else. But the Enya's have some sentimental value. My main ? is who stocks them regularly.Chapleau, Ont I priced an Enya SS25BB last week and their price was OK and delivery quick. These folks came to our fun fly last June and not only set up shop but donated all the fuel used at the event. David DeLucaI think poor marketing and poor distribution have allways underplayed the value of an Enya VS OS, etc. If Rio hobby can get them, thats something they should advertise to the clubs as they are not as easy to get as some others. Even Great Hobbies doesnt list them. They are very strong and reliable engines. Not all that powerful, but very reliable, and like Andrew said, bullet proof. It has been through alot!I have had it for years and the external is beat up but the insides are very good. Flew it for 2 years and did not even have it broke in but thats a different story. Would I reccomend them: You bet. JohnI have the impression that the Enya engine line is a very small part of MRC,s business, and the Canadian market is probably miniscule compared to that of the US,so marketing in Canada is probably not very high on MRC,s activity list.So often we think we are supporting Canadian Industries by buying in Canada, but in reality the profits are usually going back to a US distributor and an Asian manufacturer, and we are of course supporting two levels of government with the GST and PST. Ever wonder what the actual cost of an Asian produced radio or engine actually is?I really dont want to know because I think it might be so discouraging to see the middle man profits we are paying, and all the taxes and duties along the way, never mind the profit the poor little Canadian LHS or mail order company is trying to generate. If you look at the average magazine in the last 15 years, by far the big glossy full page ads are for OS, and other more well known brands. Enya has been around for as long, and was back in the 70's and 80's more widely seen and used. Today, you barely see any of them, relatively speaking. Their fourstrokes for example are rarely mention with the OS VS Saito battles (along with YS in its seemingly own class) yet the Enya 4 strokes are awesome and as good or better than the big two. I think if they were imported and marketed as heavily as the others, they would have a much greater piece of the engine pie.Personally I like my webras. I will have to give enya a try Please enter your desired user name, your email address and other required detailsShops, Stores, Distributors, Group Buys withoutNote that passwords are case-sensitive. The new style carb and SS bearings I don't mind, but the front housing is a CNC part that doesn't match the case, as prior models did. I hope they are not getting lax in their quality control. It may grow on me in time, after all: pretty is as pretty does. Has anyone else seen this type of 41. I look forward to running it, and flying it soon! With larger props they are about even. When Enya began marketing the mid case four-strokes, their advertising spiel was that you could replace a.40 two-stroke with their four-stroke and not see a power loss. This meant that the little Enyas were designed to spin the smaller props such as a 10x6 at the same speed. That's a lot of revving for a four-stroke, but they did the job as advertised with only a minor penalty in level flight, but a clearly superior edge in vertical ascents. Since that time, two-strokes have evolved to the point where they make much more power, but not back then. Something else must be kept in mind when looking at engines. Power output is not the only criteria used to judge an engine.I have a question maybe a few of you Enya connosieur's may be able to answer. Not too long ago I was bequeathed an old Enya.35. I tried it on the test stand to see if I could get it running, and as you fellows have described, it ticked over in no time. My problem is that it runs too hot and I have to shut it off cause I don't want to damage it. I'm using tower 10 fuel with another 15 of castor oil added, but this doesn't seem to help much. I'd like one of two things to occur. Figure out a modification that allows me to run it, ie, mix my own more appropriate fuel, or modify the engine somehow to burn what I have. Or simply sell the little guy and buy something else that will use what I already have. Any suggestions? TIA guys, you all seem to know a great deal about these engines. ZZ. PS. I read earlier about adding head gaskets to burn higher nitro fuel, this thing has no head gaskets. Thanks Again I have a question maybe a few of you Enya connosieur's may be able to answer. Thanks AgainThe older Enya engines were designed to run on 0 to 5 nitromethane content in their fuel, with 20 or more castor oil for lubricant. It does make quite a difference. If it's not broken in, then as Artisan says, that's your problem. If it is, I would think that adding 15 castor in addition to whatever lube is in the Tower fuel should be enough; I also think that 10 nitro is probably OK, but the upper limit. You might do better with less. An important factor you haven't mentioned is the prop--what are you using? Jim After reading through a few of the posts here I did a test with it over the weekend that was most succesfull. Mixed it all up and tried to run it. Succesful! A little harder to hand start, but after a few runs I think I'm close to having a winning combination. Thanks to the fellow from Australia who posted about using only methanol and castor, your right it works. And it seems to be much cooler running. I suppose if I wanted a little nitro for easier starting I could mix in about 1 of the old 10 fuel. What do you guys think? ZZ. I got it to run well with the new Methanol Castor mix, but at the end of the small tank, the engine head could still sizzle spit for about 10 seconds. I only ran it WOT sporadically. Is this normal? There is NO nitro in this fuel.what gives? Is the 9x7 too big a prop. I didn't think so, but what do you guys think? TIA ZZ. P.S. At least its running through the full tank and not seizing up, and the throttle and transition are all good. Now if we can just kill this heat issue,;) You said you'd mixed it 20-25 by weight which would only give about 16-20 by volume which is nowhere near enough castor. Mix by volume so it's more like 25 all castor. That means 3 parts of methanol and 1 part castor. But first I'd get some decent pure methanol and proper lubricating castor. I will add a bit more castor to try and bring it up to the proper volume and see if there is a difference. By the way, whats up with the vertical slab of metal portruding from the top of the piston. I've never seen a design like this, and I'm sure it has to do with fuel air mixing etc. But its definately different. Anyway, I'll do some more testing. ZZ.
