Once centered I put some carbon from a pencil on the blade face and the lock started working okay at that point. I would recommend a purchase with one caveat. I bought this because a previous model similar to this was 3Cr13 and this knife is advertised here as 8Cr13. That is incorrect. this blade is still 3CR13. It will not stay sharp long but should sharpen very easy. As I said this would be a very light use knife just for emergency type use. Unfortunate choice of blade steel though.I'm a fan of Kershaw blades in general and I find their Chinese 8CR13MOV steel to be good knife steel.
