No power seems to be going to it, as I've tested it with my phone, and with a USB. I'm lost. and very confused about the USB. I wouldn't worry about it. It isn't mentioned because it isn't something you are ever suppose to interact with. Now, did the Blue Ray player ever work with the VGA adaptor. Is it a PC based Blue Ray. I am assuming it is as you are using it with a chromecast. VGA doesn't carry audio. So the adaptor would need a separate audio output jack to support analog audio. Some adaptors have this, some do not. Most of these adaptors also respect HDCP. VGA is not a protected output standard, so they will shut down when they encounter an HDCP protected signal (which all Blue-Rays are). That could, and would be my first assumption for your problem. I hope if someone else runs into a similar issue that this post helps. You have adapted this to VGA which does not carry audio. You cannot get audio with your current setup. If the Chromecast has updated, it may no longer support output to a non HDCP compliant display. Your display does not support HDCP as it does not have a digital input. The projector last shipped in 2007, so is almost 10 years old. I only have another HDMI adapter to test it with my computer, so that would likely exhibit the same issue.
