Herr 2.0 out of 5 stars The colors do change... but, contrary to what the owners manual states, you can not turn the color changing feature off while the unit is playing. Nor can you turn the colors off when the unit is not playing. So if, like me, you put this unit in your bedroom you now have a very bright nightlight to keep you company. The company did replace the unit when I complained, but the replacement works exactly the same. In order to sleep I either have to cover the unit or place a piece of cardboard in front of it to shut off the light. Would I buy again? No way.The radio picks up stations very well and is really easy to mount on the wall. All of the directions in the user's manual are simple and clear so the set-up process is quick and painless. Highly recommend this CD player! When I received it, it didn't work. The return process was a joke. I waited 2 weeks just to find out what to do to return it. Had to return 1st before they would send a new one. They have to look at it and deem whether it functions or not. I had to pay the shipping to return it. It is now Nov 3rd. I have never heard from them. I know they have received it. I am waiting to find out if they are replacing it.The warranty is, of course, only 90 days. I can usually get a cd to start playing, but sometime during the playback it will go into a permanent pause mode that I cannot unpause. I'm disappointed with this stereo. I noticed another reviewer complained of the colored lights keeping them awake. It is true that you cannot turn off the colored lights when the stereo is on, but they do go off when you power the stereo off. I'm not sure if that reviewer was trying to use the sleep function for it to play a period of time while they fell asleep, but there is certainly no need to put a blanket over it or cardboard in front of it as long as you power it off. The colors change while it is on, or you can freeze the color-changing feature at a single color, but you cannot turn them off while it is on. You cannot change one cd while another is playing. The stereo will play all 3 cds consecutively, or you can program it to play a certain sequence (when the cds will play). I originally gave this stereo 4 stars right after I got it, and Amazon will not allow me to edit that like I can edit this part of the review, but I'd only give it 1 now (if even that!).They have both been actively used as an all night background noise provider, a hook up to my DVD player and as a main source of music. The only bad thing I can say about it is that when powered off, the colors still shift quite brightly (which is a tad annoying, particularly when it's in the bedroom). Over than that, this is a great little unit. It's beautiful, compact and the quality of sound beats units that I've had that were three times the size of this one. I haven't watched tv since I got it. I'm going to buy three more by Christmas for three of my grand-children. Also I'm not very good at putting things together but it was a snap and after a couple of hours, I could operate everything.Sorry to run on but I just couldn't help it.The illuminating colors are amazing. Everybody got impressed with it. But right now the CDs are not working. The only thing I can hear is the radio. And now the illuminating lights are having trouble. It has only 3 months of warranty.I like the looks but its not reliable. They replaced it with a new one but its no wall mountable. I don't recommend itSo upset that an ex jerk broke it. The colors were so pretty. Now I can't find another like it. PD6870CH - Champagne. Page 2 WARNINGUnpacking and Setup. Page 5 PREPARATION FOR USE (CONTINUED). Battery Operation.
