emergen 10-7500 manualYou’ll install your switch next to your home’s electrical panel load center and then you’ll connect circuit breaker wires to the transfer switch’s circuits. Once you power up your portable generator, you will manually turn on each switch and that generator energy is transferred as electrical power and goes through the house circuits you have previously chosen. Your EmerGen Switch cannot permit connection to both utility and generator power at the same time eliminating the possibility of back feeding. Don't be left in the dark! Designate each EmerGen Switch circuit that will be used. Identify the load center circuits that are 20 amps. Designate these circuits for use on the 20 amp EmerGen Switch circuits.Installation was time consuming, but went flawlessly and this product performs as advertised. I'm very satisfied with the outcome. Was easy to wire up just took my time and works as expected. Will be ordering one for my brothers house I like the fact that the wiring can be moved from right hand (factory) to left hand output. Works great. It was perfect. The whole thing is really well built and the the install is well thought out. I did wish my panel would have knocked out a bit easier, that took about 2 hours. But in terms of stringing and hooking up wires this kit was super easy. I put all the pieces out and checked everything and the bits all looked flawless. Plenty of wire to go around the whole box. The large conduit was great but not as flexible as I would have wished. Just wish it came with mounting hardware and the smaller conduit. But no problem I got it done. And it worked - 30 minutes actually stringing and connecting wires and clicked right on. No extension cords running through the house. Much safer. Installation in process. First thing I did was to determine the best way to balance the load between the two sides of the switch so that the power usage on each side is reasonably similar. I have an upper level which has it's own furnace, so I put a furnace on each side of the switch. I also split up receptacle areas that would most likely have similar usage. Using this formula, I feel as if I did a reasonable job of equalizing the load between the two outputs of the generator which is important to the health thereof, even though Connecticut Electric says the switch itself has no problem with an unbalanced load. The physical installation took me about 3 hours with the mounting of the switch and inlet box taking the lions share of this. I did have to move the wires from the right hand side of the switch to the left to accommodate my panel, but this was an easy task. If you take your time and pay attention to what you are doing, it's a virtually foolproof procedure to wire this thing up.Perhaps need to have additional instructions when one has their main panel outside where the transfer switch panel will also be mounted. (See attached picture) Over all I am very pleased with my purchase.
