Someone who's had experience with the Eltron or Zebra P310C (which is their color card printer) and getting it to print from Windows XP.Some more details, from the one topic I was able to find they said that the printer pretty much has a parallel to USB converter built in to it, this may or may not be factual. There are both USB and Parallel on the back of the unit. I do not however have a parallel cable just a USB one. When I print the demo card it does say it has the USB firmware installed. When I connect to the PC it detects the Eltron P310 but cannot find the driver. I've downloaded the driver from Zebras site under their legacy drivers which says the P310i and P310c use the P330i drivers. The driver download is a.exe file that creates a folder in the c:\windows directory which I verified is in fact there.I've forced it to use the P310i driver that it installed and I know it's communicating via USB as the printer starts to warm up but then it gives me a command error hmm It seems to just be having issues accepting the driver the printer doesn't seem to accept the P310i Driver whcih is what Zebra is giving me. The printer clicks fans spin up but a Command Error comes up on the computer which seems to me that the printer isn't getting the correct commands but it is indeed talking to the printer. The Printer shows up as a Eltron P310CF and the cards list it as a P310C from the test print using V2.65 USB for firmware. In windows print settings and Device Settings it does show it sees the printer and that it's the P310CF EDIT: Got it working had to do Have Disk and select the P330i Driver manually and connect it to a physical windows box and not a VMWare. So it was both, I was able to get it to talk to the printer by doing have disk in VM Ware but it kept erroring. As soon as I connected it to my physical Windows 7 Desktop and installed the driver via HaveDisk. Edit Edit: I can print just fine from the print preferences (print demo card, print programming info) but when I try to print from an app I get an error.I updated via the firmware on Zebras site but of course there was no actual check to see if it's the proper firmware and it would seem since there's multiple versions of the 310 that this firmware has now confused the printer. It still responds and all that but the wheels spin the wrong direction and some dont spin at all.Or perhaps a button you can push to reset all the settings.Did you try the P310F driver. A 19 2 Installation and Setup 2.1 General Information This section will guide you through the installation and setup of your printer. This consists of the following procedures, which should be performed in the order presented. 2.2 Unpacking the Printer Setting up the Printer Connecting Power Connecting the Printer to your Computer Installing the Printer Driver Changing the Printer Driver Options Loading Ribbon Cartridge Loading Cards Printing a Test Card Printer Operation The procedure to be followed for Packing the Printer for Shipment is given at the end of this section Rev. The InstallWizard will: Automatically install the User Interface when the driver CD is inserted. Start the installation process when the Install Printer Driver menu item is selected from the Main Menu. Allow you to install Ethernet drivers, if you plan on networking your card printer. Allows you to adjust the image colors; these adjustments apply to the entire card, not just photographic images. Intensity - decrease or increase the image intensity by moving the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) slider bars left or right. This will change the overall lightness or darkness of the image. Move the slider to the right to increase, and to the left to decrease. Contrast - decrease or increase the image contrast by moving the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) slider bars left or right. This magnifies or minimizes the difference between the light and dark parts of the image.
