If so, they have a top loading bobbin and not a removable bobbin case. Bobbins are metal with holes on the top. Elna also did budget models made in Japan such as the Elnita or Contessa and these were front loading removable bobbin cases. Later model Elnas are still top loading but plastic bobbins and look similar to Janomes.
