The next step was a call to Elkay whose technician diagnosed the problem over the phone with our plumber as a faulty compressor. You would think the next step would be for Elkay to honor the warranty, we pay the shipping costs, plumbers installation fee again etc.Had we done this in the beginning we would have saved enough money in plumbers costs and the initial cost of the cooler to buy five coolers like the one recently purchased at Sams Club. Our advice is a warranty is only as good as the company who stands behind it. At least in our case Elkay failed to stand behind their product and made it so frustrating in our attempts to enforce the warranty that we have conceded defeat.It was easy for the plumber to install and seems to be well built. I was disappointed at first with the water pressure. I searched high and low for a solution online and was unable to find any documentation or user with a solution. Just when I thought all was lost, I noticed a white screw to the left of the altitude suggestions and decided to give it a turn. Sure enough, it increased the water flow and I was able to adjust it to my specifications. Also of note, we decided to install the electric receptacle outside of the fountains enclosure so we'll be able to unplug it when its not in use. We have young kids that love playing in water whenever they can so it's best that we have the option to shut it down completely if needs be. You'll be unable to simply run the plug out the bottom. I had to run to the home improvement store and purchase a 1.5 inch drill bit to pop a hole into to make it work. It not a defect at all, just something I wish they'd provide the option for. So far so good- I've attached a picture of that elusive water flow adjustment screw.The cooler arrived in two days. It was a little challenging to install in the same footprint as my previous cooler: the drain was a challenge due to were it was roughed in but with a bit of thinking and a couple of trips to the lumber yard we got it installed. The water line was very easy to install. The water stream was a bit low and the trouble shooting instructions are a bit confusing but with the help of an online video we figured out were the adjustment was and now we have a good stream of water. The adjustment valve says it's for altitude but it adjusts the water flow also. Out last Elkay unit lasted over 20 years hope this one gives us that kind of service, I'm sure it will.Except it is ONLY designed for installs where the electrical receptive is on the wall INSIDE the frame of the fountain cabinet. This was a replacement in my case, and my receptive was about 6 inches outside the cabinet. I had to just drop the cable between the metal frame and the drywall and it's kind of smashed. It would have been so simple for the manufacturer tojustcut a little divot out of the frame to allow room for the wire.but oh well. it works.Would have been nice if seller could have mentioned this in description.We had a refrigerated outdoor fountain that died on us and replaced it with this. So far it's been working like a champ (6 months). Water keeps cool, the machine is quiet, and looks spiffy. Our summers get up to 120 degrees here, so that'll be the ultimate test to see if this thing can hang. I'll update if it doesn't.Follow the rough-in plumbing as close as possible. Honest Review 4.0 out of 5 stars Shop Diligently. Nothing to really complain about, the water tastes good, has a proper stream arc and is always cold. The only issues I have is that the unit is a little noisy from time to time. I wish I knew what to call it, but after you take a drink or two it sounds like the unit is recharging, perhaps it is temp related. As well, you'll need to buff out the catch sink as hard water stains will appear. I think Elkay has the market cornered on these units. Shop wisely and get the best price, the price ranges on these are pretty dramatic but there are deals to be had if you shop diligently. We have been getting rave reviews for the unit from the end users. I think the only unhappy people are the concession people who are no longer selling 200-400 bottles of water a day.They were recommended by Elkay Customer Service for Elementary Schools. (Our State DOE uses a vandal resistant model.)If fact, while I was on the phone with CS, she found the recommended item here on Amazon. Will update on our experience with installation, as the other reviewer had some difficulty. As the installers are volunteers, we hope our giving attitude will help to smooth out the install. CS did mention that these were the latest models that self diagnose and are programmable, leading us to believe that the install concerns have been addressed.
