Technically that's the solution manual though so you can't get to upset at THIS book for it. I am sitting down doing homework out of this book as I write this (well.Formula 2-60, which gives the formula for combinations (a very important concept in statistics) is given in bold as a definition, and the writer accidentally 'left out' a factorial symbol (!) which means that the formula they give is wrong and cannot be used to solve problems with. Luckily I figured this out after 15 minutes of wondering why the hell I was getting the wrong answer, and come to find out, whoops. Thank God I wasn't building a bridge or designing playground equipment. This thing is trash, I can't imagine why my professor required us to buy it. Worst money I ever spent and I can't wait to sell this thing after class ends or possibly burn it. I am not an expert at probability or statistics, but I can guarantee you that the odds of me keeping this book are exactly zero.Only then will you be able to piece together the scattered bits of information in this book. The discussion is Brief. For example, the significance of the autocorrelation function is never mentioned until one of the last lines of the chapter, when the author mentions that it shows interdependence between values of the random process at two time instants. Mind you, he does not show explicitly how the autocorrelation function shows interdependence; he is content to just throw it out there as if it were a matter of course (trust me, it is not a matter of course). There are numerous other examples I could give; for example, the presentation of conditional probability and the conditional pdf leaves too much to the imagination. Again, the reader may be able to piece together the logic with the help of a professor, and after doing so, the presentation in the book will make a heck of a lot more sense. It is riddled with errors and too few exaples to lend insight into the end of chapter problems. My professor tells me that there aren't any other (better) authoritative books out there on the subject. That's really hard to believe.
