Thanks, Nicholas I'd love to see your model F manual. I think the F is the rarer of the manuals you have. In particular, the 1205 manual is a little hard to find, for some reason. Sorry about the quality, the ink is light in person too. Nicholas I'll get the other two up as soon as I can. Both of them have a lot more pages and are more fun to look at. I'm waiting on the edge of my seat to so that model R manual.:) Thanks, Nicholas One thing- Page 6 did not come through completely. The bottom of the page is not there. I've tried refreshing my browser, and that didn't work. Could you re-post that one page. Tip to all members: If you have any kind of imaging software, such as Photoshop or Microsoft Photo Editor, these images can be adjusted to make the print darker. Use the Contrast control. Again, thanks! Now, somebody- Model L? Pretty please? I have one of these machines, and it works so well. (Thanks Jimmy!) I am not a canister fan in general, but the Lux is so quiet that it is a pleasure to use. I do not have the power nozzle (nor do I need one), but the straight suction is great for my hardwood floors. Thanks again. --Tom Page 6 seems fine on mine, but here it is again just in case. Sorry I'm not too savy with editing pictures. I'm not sure why the ink is so faded on this book. This manual is basically the same as the Super J, that can be found on the manuals section of the site. I'll get to work on the older books, they are much more fun. Nicholas Good thing we can preview our threads before we post. I think it is mostly because of the textured body and the polished metal. It looks far superior to the 1205s that have the untextured bodys. I wonder when they switched to the later textured style. I don't see very many of them. Oh, about that model R manual. I can't find it at the moment. Does anyone else have a copy. I'll keep looking but at this point it could be years before I find it. Chances are it's in the same place as all of my other missing paperwork. I mean they look absolutely pristine. How did I overlook them when I was in that room?! I guess I was so overwhelmed by the myriad of vacuums that my eyes just glazed over at some point. I may have mentioned that my grandmother had a Model G, but it was actually a 1205. She may have had a Model G at some point, but the vacuum I remember as a kid was a 1205. I was confusing the model numbers--showing my lack of vacuum knowledge. I'm learning. I guess I've caught the bug for sure! Being a new Model L owner, I wanted to have a manual for it. And though I've given up on 1205's for the moment, I'm never going to say never- maybe I'll try again someday. So, having a manual for one of those is great, too. I have all these saved, and I'll be burning them to CD for safekeeping. Fred, you have the most immaculate collection. I thought my Lux PN-2 was well-polished, but the one I see in your photo beats mine by a mile. You have so many things I envy, especially that Maytag 906 pair and the KitchenAid KDS-15 in turquoise. I'm really happy so many nice things have found a great home with you. Again, many thanks, guys. Video Downloads Digital Millennium Copyright Act Policy Our Privacy Policy. Couldn't have the Kirbys ganging up on that lone 'Lux, right. It's got a few scratches and a small dent on one side of the tank, but it runs great. I've already posted in another thread about a problem it has with the lockout switch that is supposed to shut the machine down if the bag is full or the bag door is open. I've got it functioning okay for now and I have a new lockout switch on order to permanently fix the problem. I will install that when it arrives in a few days.I really didn't need another hose, but I was glad to find it, along with the other two pieces, for a good price. The Power Nozzle has a few battle scars but is otherwise in good working order with a solid brush roll. I'll post pix once I've got everything cleaned up a bit. When I slide the metal tube into the plastic sheath with the spring clip pointing upward to align with the release button, It will push in about three inches and click into place, but the button is immobilized and I cannot push the shaft any further into the sheath. I am assuming this white wand assembly is meant to telescope like the teal one for my 1205, but maybe it's not. Is there a trick I'm missing here or do the two halves just click together at full length? They were soon found to be problematic and as a result were recalled for armature and motor brush replacement; As you can see, they both have a few battle scars (you can see the little dent in the canister, just behind the bag door in the first one), but they work well together. The gold color scheme is a little garish but it's growing on me. It's a true artifact of its era. In fact, I believe the first Diamond Jubilees may have had the black PN-5s. Rugsucker would know for sure. And, yes, it--like other Electrolux colors--is not a favorite of everyone's (albeit some found them attractive). The lackluster hammertone blue Models E and AE and the institutional gray of the Model F are two that don't appeal to me but I suppose I'd get used to them, too, if I ever find one for cheap. Actually I'd have liked the blue better if a secondary color would have been used for the ends. I guess it's because that's what I remember from my childhood--that and my grandparents' gray XXX. The machine now works good as new. Now that it's out of the machine and I can look at it closely, the old switch is downright scary looking. It appears that the black wire (blue on the new switch), which is permanently attached to the switch, had broken off and was soldered back together in the past--yikes. I'm glad that switch is now in the trash. It doesn't always happen like that, but it's fun when it does. I haven't torn that far into it and don't intend to if I don't have to.It looked so nice when I got through, I pulled my 1205 out of the closet and gave that dusty old warhorse a similar treatment. Now both are ready for their close-up. I don't think the metal top panel on the 1205 has shined that nicely in the 11 or 12 years that I've had it. It seems then that my PN5 is fully functioning as it should. At this point, I think it's pretty safe to assume that any motor failure I might experience would be a result of age and wear rather than defect. I don't know that it's an indication the motor was ever serviced, but there is a sticker inside the bag door from an Electrolux dealer in Moline, Illinois.Made yourself proud Later in the DJ life cycle, the PN-5 returned to black, but it featured a squareish off-white reset switch (instead of the round button). I can confirm that that the black DJ PN-5 came after the sand PN-5 because the Marquise's power nozzle also featured the squareish off-white reset switch.I recently acquired a Golden J. not sure what shape it's in. I'll post pics when it arrives. I actually like the color of those machines. Something about it is so evocative of the 70s.It's not beautiful, but it's retro and funky. I prefer the Diamond Jubilee, 1205 and blue-body Ultralux models more, but the J machines round out my top 4. It came with a matching plastic hose and the newer style two-piece wand.I've actually come to like it. Granted, it's an artifact of its era?the '70s were not known for subtlety?but that's part of its charm. Mechanically, it runs great and is a cleaning beast?not quite Kirby caliber, but pretty darned good. By contrast, the PN-6s would have had the opposite color scheme of PN-5 (v.2)--jade plastic hood with sand-colored trim.Admittedly, one of the PN-6A's bumpers looks more taupe (pinkish brown) than the other. I'm not sure if there was a difference, or if it's just the lighting. But I only have 3. Silverado Deluxe, Diamond Jubilee, and an Ultralux Classic.Throwing the plastic canisters into the mix causes confusion, at least for me, because there were so many different versions of them. The 1977 manual (shown below) is the first to show the PN-4; so the PN-4 was either introduced in late 1976 or 1977 (rather than 1975 as I listed in my earlier reply). The new style of ivory sheath with the exposed wand latch at the bottom seems to have been introduced with the PN-4 according to the 1977 Super J manual.I'm assuming that everything is original with my machine since it has so many original, matching parts. And since it was still officially a Model 1205 (service manuals tacked on a 'J' to make a distinction between the teal 1205s and the gold) it likely retained the teal cord on the PN-2 and some of the attachments. Another possibility is that teal-colored overstock was used on the early Jubilees and later ones were furnished with the new ivory color items. The ones I have seen for the Jubilees, Super Js, and Olympia Ones have ivory tools with no secondary color--except for the brush plates that were painted the same as the tank bodies (which had been done since the tool was introduced on the Model E in 1954). These were also used on the early Super Js.So there doesn't seem to be a consistent reason teal was used in hose tracers other than it was an attractive and complementary color. The likely reason the PN-2 elbow color changed from the teal-colored PN-1 elbows was due to the larger size of its pivots than those of the latter; to avoid mix-ups when being serviced. Otherwise teal would have probably continued to be used. Anybody who can get me an answer is welcome to tell. My Silverado has a similar problem to this Super J. The bag door doesnt close all the way. When i push it all the way closed, the motor seems to gain RPM and when I let go it returns to its first position. Is that normal? There was a set of instructions posted here a few months ago showing how to tear one down and repair it. I put it on two, and it opened. The switch to open the door was 'quivering' on 3 and I always run it on 4. Obvious loss of suction by this point but i only have a few bags left. I might run it on 3, but im not sure I need to put a new trash bag in the wastebasket first. Fortunately, 'C' bags are plentiful and cheap. The best bang for your buck will be to order them in bulk from eBay. The offer is still there (see link below). These are good quality four-ply generic bags and I can attest to their excellent performance. And no, I am not a paid spokesperson. Plus I have 10 generics left. I tossed the generic I had in it (full) and put one of the genuine bags in it. So much suction with a new bag. I hope i get some time out of this bag, since i wont use the rest of the genuines, or the bags from the '60's i got with my Lx.Video Downloads Digital Millennium Copyright Act Policy Our Privacy Policy. New hoses are an option available when the originals are collapsed, and no longer useable. The motors come with a One Year Guarantee from the date of purchase. You send the vacuum back, I'll repair the motor, and ship it back. Normal wear items, switches, cords, wheels, self inflicted damage, etc, is not covered. These Vacuum cleaner's were built to withstand the test of time, and Take a Licken' and Keep on Ticken' New nylon covered, original hoses are tough to locate. Folks have been pouring Latex down their hoses trying to repair the leaking hoses and this isn't the answer. The first time the hose gets yanked around a corner, pulled on, or run over by the kids tricycle, it's a leaker again. I have developed the right way of doing this job, and the hoses are leak free, and draw the same suction at the end of the hose as it does at the intake of the Vac. You can send me your hose to renew, or I still have a few nice looking hoses that I can seal. Either way, i have the fix for ths age old problem. One note; If your hose is fractured,, fraying, crushed, or flattened out, it's all done. Nothing but a new hose can fix this problem. But--if your hose is in nice shape and is losing suction through the woven rubber bands inside and through the nylon webbing on the outside, I have the Fix. Inquire, drop me a line and ask for details. First drop me a line, let me know what vacuum your interested in, and where the vacuum or parts are going to be shipped. There is a price difference in the two operations. Well, yes you can. Ask that seller if the motor's are new, and what sort of suction they actually produce in inches of water lift, and what sort of guarantee they come with. They will tell you they don't know what measurement of suction it might have, and there isn't any guarantee, other than it works. What you are buying is a vacuum that has been bought at Salvation Army, Goodwill, garage, estate or foreclosure sale. 9 times outa 10 your buying a used up, worn out machine, that the seller has paid 5-10 dollars for, and is selling it, without touching it. He has no idea what condition the vac might really be in. If the vacuum cleaner is pulling is hand to the end of the hose or the intake of the vac--it's good suction. Beware of what might look like a good deal. It really isn't. Just something to think about. Thanks for visiting my Vintage Electrolux Web Page. Terry All of the speeds don't function properly. Is the mixer making some growling noises. Think it might need servicing after 60 years of use. Does the mixer run fine, but the paint is falling off from years of hard use. Prior to performing any work or restoration, I'll send you an e-mail with an estimate of repair's, or what it will cost to restore it to brand new operating condition. If you decide to have the mixer repaired, the inspection fee is waved as part of the repair or restoration. Or--if the mixer needs too much in repair's--I'll take it in trade on an already rebuilt or restored Mixmaster motor unit. All kinds of options are available. The usual turn around time is 10--14 days, depending on what type of work you want performed. I think the older, vintage Sunbeam Mixmaster's are a really neat, retro kitchen appliance, and do warrant keeping them running and looking good.
