Dentro desta categoria incluem-se os agentes etiologicos da: tuberculose, varicela (catapora) e do sarampo. Nas precaucoes contra aerossois deve-se utilizar protecao respiratoria do tipo respirador N-95. (vide p.53) As precaucoes contra goticulas reduzem a disseminacao de patogenos maiores que 5 micra, a partir de um individuo infectado, podendo alcancar as membranas mucosas do nariz, boca ou conjuntiva de um hospedeiro susceptivel. As goticulas originam-se de um individuo fonte, sobretudo durante a tosse, o espirro, a conversacao, e em certos procedimentos, tais como: a aspiracao ou a broncoscopia. A transmissao de goticulas (maiores que 5 micra), requerem um contato proximo, entre o individuo e o receptor, visto que, tais goticulas nao permanecem suspensas no ar e geralmente se depositam em superficies a uma curta distancia. Dai a importancia de ressaltarmos a necessidade da limpeza concorrente e terminal.
