A voltmeter is a voltmeter.?Its a high impedance meter, but so are most digitals. It can be used on anything, volts are volts. You need the specific probe that goes with it, and you'll probably want to rebuild it. That guy is some 40 years old now, and I wouldn't be surprised if its had the same C cell battery in it for most of them. Its also got some ancient capacitors and probably some resistors that are off value. Those things were kit built though, so it should be pretty simple to rebuild it. I would get my hands on a known accurate meter to calibrate it against though, or follow whatever directions are in the assembly manual for calibration.Yeah - it came with the wand and the construction booklet the fella I bought it from used to build it. Very cool. I tested it out on a 9v battery but I likely did it wrong anyway. The needle moved so I bought it. Wand twists: volts to ohms. Many thanks!It is my understanding that some requrie a revised schematic for the different switch (part number 6006). You may wish to adopt this popluar military surplus test lead kit. The one shown is from APEX Jr.The usual VTVM had 10 meg resistance in the case plus 1 meg in the probe; total 11 meg. Losing the probe caused problems and many, like the HP410C, had non-detachable probes. The meter will still work without the 1 meg probe; it will just read about 10 high. GB has given you links to good RF probes; there are plenty more if you Google. They also appear on ebay at highly-variable prices; if you are patient you might get one cheaply.Two nuts and washers hold it in the pipe cap. A wire goes to a tiny slide switch mounted inside the pipe. It is wired SPST across a 1 meg resistor. It will be good to get this one going again -- it was bequeathed to my friend by her Elmer (now SK), and will be a tangible reminder of his help and guidance as she advances in the hobby (and perhaps pursues an engineering career later on).
