There's two levers, one beside the outlet and one beside the inlet, but I can't push them without breaking them, hard to push but if I push too hard I'm afraid they'll break. Does anyone have any idea where I can find an instruction manual for these models. I'll familiarize myself with the specific units when the time comes to really get down on it. My problem is the tubing and other extraneous parts. I've never seen this stuff before, looks like a 10th grade science experiment to me. I have a rena, and it's nowhere near as screwy with parts as these. I'm excited to try these eheims out, as everything I hear about them sounds pretty good but the hassle of figuring them out has me wishing for another XP4. To start viewing messages,I saw it all working well at the person who i bought it from. So when i brought it home i decided to give it a great wash. So i unpluged everything and put everything back. When i plug the nozzles in then turn the leavers to on position, the water rushes into the pump like its supposed to. It fills the pump then fills the wet dry cylinder. It almost seems like the pressure is too much for it to handle and it gushes the water out from the top of the wet dry cylinder and the middle grey ring of the wet dry cylinder. Until i plug the filter in. Once pluged in there are no leaks, but everytime the wet dry cylinder emties and starts to fill again it makes this fan sound which is quite irritating. Its a audible sound, just like it would make if the filter was running dr. Once it finishes the cycle it pushes the water back into the tank and the sound stops for 30 seconds until the next cycle when the cylinder is being filled again. I opened to make sure the impellers are clean. My XP3 just fills up by itself once I lock the hoses back on.So Little Tank Space When the water flow is 100 it doesnt have any issues, but when the water flow reduces for the wet dry cycle it makes a sound like the impeller is running dry. My XP3 just fills up by itself once I lock the hoses back on. You can adjust the flow rate and I love the spraybars that come with it. Does a great job on my 120. As far as priming goes, it's a push button primer. It can be a little tough to push down (ours probably needs a little lube) and I usually have John do it. I LOVE that you can't even hear it one bit. The only thing you might hear is the water coming out of the spraybar if the water level is too low. The Ecco have issues with the plastics of the head lift mechanism (broke my second one this weekend) and from what I have heard and read the wet dries have problems on regular base. I was very pleased with the 2028 that was running on a tank I maintained in a resthome. It was always running, quite, large media baskets, good output and never let me down. Dough I suggest to be careful with the plastics. The valve that shuts the hoses doesn't look to strong to me. Always use Vaseline on the rings around the head, valves and also on the rubber inside the pump head that holds the impeller in the midle of the magnetic field. I'm sure you will be pleased abouth the 2028. I also suggest the Eheim substrate Pro. It works the best with foam in the lower basket and very fine filter pad on top, other baskets filled with Eheim substrate Pro and on top a very fine filter pad. This way the foam holds back the large particles, the fine filter-pad protects the substrate against mid sized dirt particles and the last very fine filter-pad protects the impeller to small parts of the substrate. This way the media seem to be more sufficient. The very fine filter pads have to be replaced every 4 weeks and the rest of the media can be rinsed quickly and ready to go for an other month.What do you guys keep ur flow rate at. I am afraid 100 flowrate might be too much of a current for discus.Thats a total of 520 gallon on a 75 gallon tank. This reduces the flow and increases the real output of the pump. The output of the second pump is pointed to the background so the flow will diffuse. It doesn't bother the fish at all and there is some turbulence in the tank but no strong curent in one direction.The noise you are getting is the air that is being let into the filter to aerate the substrate and hence make the bacteria more efficient in breaking the pollutants down.Web Hosting. Kat 5.0 out of 5 stars I just changed the filter pads out yesterday, and the media is still going strong. I use the Eheim 2080 for a 100gal turtle tank, one turtle. The filter is well made. Clearly the designers thought about how the filter will actually be used. The filter pads are located at the top of the canister and the filter comes with a tray to make it easy to take the blue pad out and wash it in the sink. I suspect that a full filter cleaning will be a bit more cumbersome since the canister is large and heavy when filled. But the little wheels at the bottom are surprisingly helpful. And it appears the parts that will need to be washed are easy to remove, unlike my previous filter. If you have a turtle(s), I would highly recommend buying this filter. The up front costs are high, but well worth it given the time you save not having to do a full filter cleaning every 3 weeks. Wahter 4.0 out of 5 stars It is very large (about the size of a 5 gallon (almost 19 liters) bucket and weighs a lot when it's full of media and water (it even comes with wheels which come in contact with the ground when you tilt it). At 450 gallons (about 1703 liters) per hour (a bit less when the media is inside), it does have a good flow, but I wish it was even stronger (the Eheim Classic 1500XL is more powerful). I have the single outflow on one side of the aquarium and both intakes at the other end. I think the priming button works okay, but it's not the best. As mentioned in other reviews, this filter doesn't come with much media (one coarse blue sponge is all). Okay, some pointers. Every few months, per the instruction manual, I use the Eheim Lubrication Spray on the rubber parts (especially on the ball joints inside the motor head where the three hoses (two intakes and one outflow) connect to the unit. That makes the flow lever very easy to slide.
