Lucrarea are o densitate mare de probleme si exercitii, prezentate sistematizat pe tipuri de probleme, grupate mai multe sub acelasi enunt. Acolo unde a fost posibil, s-a realizat o acoperire cat mai completa a capitolelor tratate, dandu-se posibilitatea elevului, ca prin repetitie si evaluare sa aprofundeze principalele tehnici legate de problemele din capitolele abordate. In prima parte a lucrarii sunt prezentate enunturile problemelor, grupate in 11 capitole, referindu-se printre altele la numere naturale de la 0 la 10, de la 10 la 30 si de la 30 la 100, adunarea si scaderea numerelor in concentrul 0-10, in concentrele 0-30 si 0-100 fara si cu trecere peste ordin, la figuri geometrice, masurari cu unitati nestandard si masurarea timpului. In partea a doua a lucrarii sunt date rezolvari ale exercitiilor si problemelor mai dificile. Fiecare capitol abordat se incheie cu cateva teste de evaluare, care ajuta elevul sa aprofundeze cunostintele insusite, sa-si dezvolte imaginatia, gandirea si creativitatea, si ajuta invatatorul sa stabileasca gradul de insusire de catre elev a cunostintelor din acel capitol. Prin anumite probleme cu nivel mai ridicat de dificultate, lucrarea, se adreseaza si elevilor care se pregatesc pentru concursurile de matematica, iar prin unele probleme ce pot fi selectate din fiecare capitol, lucrarea este foarte utila pentru cercurile de elevi.
