Subscribe to our free newsletter Request a new review I bought it online about three months ago. I'm not sure who sold it to me. I paid the going price for it, whatever that was. IT has eight sliders, eight knobs, and eight buttons for real time midi control, along with the 61 key keyboard and jacks for a sustain pedal and an expression pedal. Every key in the second octave is problematic. Three of them don't work at all, the rest work sometimes, or when they are pounded really hard. Sometimes touching a key lightly produces the maximum velocity and what should have been a delicate little ghost note explodes in the middle of a phrase. It is EXTREMELY frustrating to attempt to play this piece of junk. IT looks well built and would be a very good piece of equipment if the darn keys worked when they were pressed. Avoid it at all costs. It will only break your heart, and you will be tempted use a hammer on the non-working keys, which may lead to unjustified feelings of guilt on top of the feeling of stupidity at having bought it in the first place. Maybe they made some good ones, but mine sucks. This review was originally published on Did you find this review helpful? yes no. Did you find this review helpful? yes no. And as long as I wanted to touch type Roland enjoyable. OVERALL OPINION I've had a little over six months, I'm really happy with this choice, for some, a desire to give to the piano. I prfre, touch trs cool, and its potential even if I still does not operate. J'apprcie well as the feeling of solidity at times I attack the keys a little strong PPRE and does not flinch. Nothing I Drang, except that I'd like the keys a little longer, but that price should not RVer. I test MODELS 4 or 5 in the same price range is my prfr. The PCR-M80 is a revised version of the popular PCR-80 MIDI Keyboard controller.https://www.jbnature.com/images/carter-afb-tuning-manual.pdf Like the PCR-80, the PCR-M80 offers direct connection to the computer through USB, plus 61 keys, 27 assignable MIDI controllers, a software editor, MIDI input and output, and sustain and expression pedal connections. Advancement the PCR-M80 has over the PCR-80: the addition of velocity curves, a switchable MIDI interface, and a new key-action that offers less mechanical noise and a consistent, playable feel. The redesigned keyboard is more comfortable to play and provides a better reaction to the player’s touch. In addition, changes have been made to reduce the mechanical noise and eliminate vertical shake on the key strokes. Comprehensive Connectivity Connect everything with one USB cable. Since the power is supplied from the computer, no AC adaptor is needed. The same USB connection provides MIDI in and out ports that allow the keyboard to function as a MIDI interface to external devices. It addition, the information from keys and controllers can be sent through the MIDI out port so you can control software and external devices at the same time. The MIDI processing is compatible with FPT (Fast Processing Technology). This technology provides stable, high speed, low latency, and low jitter MIDI transmission regardless of the music app you're using. 27 Assignable Controllers The PCR-M80 provides eight knobs, eight sliders, nine buttons, and two pedal ports. These controllers can be assigned to any MIDI message, Control Change (CC), RPN, NRPN, System Exclusive, and more. You get to choose what parameters to control in your MIDI hardware and software to create the perfect playing environment. 12 Selectable Velocity Curve Combinations Pick from 12 velocity curves to precisely match your playing style. As the PCR-M80 has four velocity curves and three grades of sensitivity (Light, Medium, and Heavy), the player can find the combination that perfectly suits them. In addition, a Fixed Velocity Mode is provided where the keyboard always outputs a fixed velocity (selectable from 1 to 127). PCR Editor software for use with the EDIROL PCR Keyboard Series is included. The PCR Editor allows for extensive and convenient control of the PCR keyboards from a PC or Mac. The PCR Editor is designed to assist in creating control maps for the PCR, and allow users to quickly and easily make assignments to any of the 27 assignable controls. This powerful software also allows the user to copy system exclusive messages for the PCR into a sequence so the controls can be mapped or changed during a sequence. In addition to offering easy implementation of different MIDI messages, the PCR Editor also allows the user to specify minimum and maximum values for each control. I have this for a few years. So far as setup goes it works fine when playing, but the trouble is when it comes to setting up act and using the knobs and sliders. I went to options- control surfaces, I added Edirol PCR-M30 (That should work right?), I put Edirol PCR 1 for the input and selected wai display and act. However, it doesn't work after I set it up.I think I finally got it to work by (you know how it is.you change so many things some times you're not sure) changing which control map was being used. On the PCR-500, it comes with 15 control maps installed on ther device and once I changed it to control map 1 (which is the default map for Sonar), it all worked. Thanks for trying to help though. I recall PCR1 is for keyboard control, and it's another one for getting ACT to work. It's an area where the documentation could be clearer for sure.I'm unsure what should happen when you enable ACT Learn and then disable it, but I was under the impression that it asks you to save the settings after you disable it, but in my Sonar that doesn't happen.I use PCR 1 for individual tracks as the default in. But if one day I have to get back to the keyboard, it is certainly among Edirol I go see, and certainly this model. 5 of 5 people found this review helpful Did you find this review helpful? yes no Internet manual. What motivated my choice, especially the number of controllers (some thirty faders, knobs, buttons, pad etc..) and the ability to manage different velocity curves because I had problems to overcome in VST. In short, it connects via USB so does not use a MIDI (it's always something gained). Connections are on the side, which is convenient in many cases. It can also import specific configurations of software or other MIDI devices. UTILIZATION Touch is quite sensational compared to what is now finally I think. A big cheer for this semi-weighted soft but firm. The keys are of good quality. For cons, the general configuration is not simple at all. Too few buttons config. To say that I complained of configs Yamaha is much better here. OVERALL OPINION I use it for several months. Just to touch, but I do it again this election just for this. 1 of 2 people found this review helpful Did you find this review helpful? yes no. Should your use? Touch is pretty horrible. True piano refrain. For me, it suits me. This is the spring which is rather unpleasant. The pads are still to be configured. - Manuel entirely in English, but quite clear. - Functions surprises: The dual keyboard, it's nice. The selector device is a pleasant surprise. The aftertouch - Damage.OVERALL OPINION I have this keyboard for 48 hours, I am completely satisfied for the moment. I have not tested on Linux. Feedback to come. -Conclusion Damage to the affected and non-pads, velocity sensitive. A default by these little USB master keyboard that is of excellent quality. Almost perfect at this price, you can go! 3 of 3 people found this review helpful Did you find this review helpful? yes no. Connected to the Mac via USB, and my old S80 connects via MIDI (diffrent corresponding port on the computer: top!) UTILIZATION Everything is simple and enjoyable on the keyboard. OVERALL OPINION Bought to replace an Edirol PCR-M50, which was only four octaves, this product s'avre trs satisfying: the feel was amlior and we can say it is perfect for this range Price (rponse excellent, excellent flexibility, comfort is short). A home on scne much in the studio. Perfect, what. 2 of 2 people found this review helpful Did you find this review helpful? yes no By using our services, you agree to our use of cookies. Find out more. I found the SD card much harder to swap out of the Zoom H4 than out of the Edirol R-09. The Edirol R-09 has four very small rubber buttons on the back. They're too small to notice until someone bumps the surface the recorder is sitting on and the unit doesn't move. The Zoom unit has one rubber button on the back but it didn't seem to grip much. As the side-by-side photo I uploaded shows, the Zoom H4 is a bit larger than the Edirol R-09. I did not find the H4 so much larger as to be a burden. I did find the Edirol's screen easier to read, however. A Zoom plus: The Zoom has a true automatic gain control, where the Edirol's is a compressor circuit. The Zoom prevents clipping at high volume where the Edirol boosts low volumes without guarding against clipping. A Zoom minus: Both devices have level meters. The Zoom has no peak indicator that I could find. The Edirol, in addition to its meters, has an impossible-to-miss LED that blinks when the unit peaks. This makes it very easy to adjust levels properly by using Up and Down buttons on the side of the unit, which can be done even while recording. One final comment that won't mean much except to other die-hard MiniDisc users like me who stuck with the MiniDisc despite its shortcomings because its fidelity is so good. The Edirol R-09 is the unit that got me to finally abandon the MiniDisc!!!Please try again later. Please try again later. J. C. LEONARD 5.0 out of 5 stars I selected the R-09 over offerings from M-Audio, Korg, Marantz, and Sony. For my use, which is recording live music played on a wide variety of acoustic, acoustic-electric, and electronic instruments, the R-09 seemed to be the best fit. I decided to give the R-09 a whirl at lunch. Once you know the secret of the little slider button and the dual action of the compartment door, it really works quite well. With two fresh AA batteries (not supplied) installed, and the 512K MB memory card in place, I was ready to go in just a few minutes. I had been warned to expect a somewhat less-than-sturdy package, but the R-09 is well-designed and up to current electronic manufacturing standards. The unit is very light, which may account for the impression that some may have that it is cheaply-made in comparison to its price tag. During my lunch hour, with my office door closed, I recorded a simple rhythm on my Ovation (unplugged). Setting recording levels is very simple and the peak indicator keeps you out of trouble. Tonal balance was lifelike and the detail was truly amazing. Emboldened by my initial test, I took the R-09 to rehearsal that night. I placed the R-09 on the knuckle of my mic's boom stand using a previously-owned flexible claw-type tripod inserted into the receptacle on the R-09's optional case. The manual suggests placing the unit in the center of a rehearsal group. Amps we placed at seated head level and on the floor. Again, setting the sound level was surprisingly easy. I still used the high mic gain setting and found that the peak led meter kept me out of trouble. We recorded eight tunes before we knew what hit us and the R-09 performed perfectly. The system menus are intuitive, simple, and not so deep that you get lost. The most common functions are easy to access; though renaming the resultant recording files is a little cumbersome. This is a minor inconvenience, however, since you will probably do most of your file management later on a PC. If you are recording at medium and higher resolutions, I definitely suggest springing for a 2GB SD card. At one point, an electrical storm interrupted our session and I grabbed the R-09 and headed for the back porch. I hit the record button, set the levels, and then recorded about six minutes of the storm. The playback, not to beat a dead horse, was truly amazing.
